Best Customer Journey Analytics Software in 2026

Customer journey analytics software strings together what one person does across pages, apps and channels, then shows where paths split or end.

This guide ranks eleven products on setup effort, the bill once replay and extra modules are added, how data can leave, and whether you can buy without a partner.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

In short

What customer journey analytics software does

Customer journey analytics software joins events from several touchpoints into one timeline per customer, then reports the common paths, drop-off points and conversion routes between them.

How we ranked these

5 criteria, in order

Five tests decide the order: setup effort, real cost, how your data leaves, whether you can walk away, and who the customer journey analytics tool was built for. A separate rule reserves the first three places for challengers and moves the household names to place 4 and below. Why those five, and why there is no score out of ten, is on the how we work page.

#1 Mixpanel

Event analytics with a Flows report, billed by events tracked

Ranked #1 of 11 in Best Customer Journey Analytics Software in 2026.

Free tierPublished pricingNorth America

For journey work, Mixpanel offers the Flows report, which lists the most frequent paths to or from any chosen event. Counts are by uniques unless you switch to totals or sessions, the window defaults to 30 days, and only the top three intermediate events are shown before the rest fall into Other events.

Pricing follows tracked events across all projects, with published Growth examples at 1.5M, 5M and 20M a month. Group Analytics and Data Pipelines cost extra.

What stands out
  • Flows paths
  • Billed by events
  • Session replay
Where it costs you
  • A route only appears for events someone has instrumented, so gaps in the tracking plan become gaps in the journey.
  • The free tier ends at 1M events a month, and a chatty tracking plan pushes a team onto the event-billed Growth tier sooner.
Right for

Teams that want to answer journey questions from their own tracked events

Wrong for

Buyers who need journeys reconstructed without any tagging work

United StatesFree plan up to a monthly event cap; Growth billed by events with published examples; Enterprise quoted

#2 PostHog

Open source analytics with Paths, replay and flags in one account

Ranked #2 of 11 in Best Customer Journey Analytics Software in 2026.

Free tierOpen sourceSelf-hostablePublished pricingNorth America

In this market PostHog is the option where a path can be checked against a recording in the same account. Its docs describe Paths as an exploration aid: transitions are counted rather than unique users, a 30-minute gap starts a new path, and the docs advise confirming findings with funnels and replays.

The free allowance renews monthly and includes 1M analytics events and 5K session recordings. The code is MIT-licensed apart from an ee directory.

What stands out
  • Open source
  • Self-hosted option
  • Paths insight
Where it costs you
  • The Paths insight keeps only the top 50 transitions and the first five events per session, so rare routes drop out of view.
  • A self-hosted hobby instance is advised only up to about 100k events a month and comes without vendor support.
Right for

Buyers who want to check a route in Paths and then open the matching recordings under one login

Wrong for

Analysts who need every transition counted per unique user

United StatesFree monthly allowance on each product; usage-based billing once a card is added

#3 Amplitude

Product analytics whose Journeys chart compares converting and dropped paths

Ranked #3 of 11 in Best Customer Journey Analytics Software in 2026.

Free tierPublished pricingNorth America

The Journeys chart has two views. Pathfinder explores paths from, to or between events, while Journey Map sorts paths by frequency, similarity or average completion time and sets converted users against those who dropped off.

The window can follow clock time or the session. The free plan allows 2M events a month, 10K session replays and one year of data. Plus accepts a credit card and goes to 70M events with two years of data.

What stands out
  • Journeys chart
  • Event-based pricing
  • Session replay
Where it costs you
  • Extra replays, agent sessions and experiments are priced as a percentage of the platform plan, so add-ons enlarge the contract.
  • Growth and Enterprise are priced on request, which makes budgeting above the free tier a sales conversation.
Right for

Teams that want to compare the routes of converting and dropped-off users in one chart

Wrong for

Buyers who need a fixed price for every tier before talking to sales

United StatesFree plan with a monthly event cap; Plus scales by events on a card; Growth and Enterprise quoted

#4 OpenReplay

Session replay and journey analysis you can run on your own servers

Ranked #4 of 11 in Best Customer Journey Analytics Software in 2026.

Open sourceSelf-hostablePublished pricingElsewhere

OpenReplay lists Session Replay, Funnels, User Journeys and Journey Analysis on its homepage, with a self-host option. A single VM with 2 vCPUs, 8 GB of RAM and 50 GB of storage is enough to start, and the README says no data is shared with third parties.

Most code is AGPLv3, while the ee directory carries a commercial licence. The Dedicated cloud has a seven-day trial without a card, and stopped instances still incur a small disk charge.

What stands out
  • Open source
  • Self-hosted option
  • Session replay
Where it costs you
  • The vendor's pages name no country or address behind the Asayer, Inc. trademark, which leaves jurisdiction unclear for a procurement file.
  • The listed journey features are funnels, user journeys and replay, with no offline or call-centre touchpoints.
Right for

Buyers who want journey analysis and recordings kept on servers they control

Wrong for

Teams that need journeys to span stores, calls and other offline channels

Not stated by the vendorSelf-hosted edition costs nothing; Dedicated cloud price published per hour with 7-day trial; Enterprise custom

#5 LiveSession

Polish replay and funnel tool priced on a ladder of monthly sessions

Ranked #5 of 11 in Best Customer Journey Analytics Software in 2026.

Free tierPublished pricingEurope

LiveSession's Free plan covers 1,000 sessions, three team members and two websites; paid plans lift the seat and project limits and are sized from 5,000 and 10,000 sessions upward. The 14-day trial gives all Pro features.

Journey mapping shows the complete path through a website, next to funnels and product analytics for feature adoption. The company is registered in Wroclaw, Poland. Enterprise starts at 100,000 sessions and invoices are possible there.

What stands out
  • Journey mapping
  • Session ladder
  • Cancel anytime
Where it costs you
  • Sessions above the plan limit are not recorded, and the notice arrives at 80 percent of the limit.
  • Retention on the plan table runs from one month on Free and Basic to three on Pro.
Right for

Small web teams wanting replay and funnels at a modest, session-sized price

Wrong for

Enterprises needing identity resolution across devices and channels

Every enterprise plan includes Felix agentic analysis, analytics, interactions, and replay with summarisation. The Journeys capability shows which paths customers take, and an Adobe Experience Platform connector is advertised for faster CJA go-live.

A non-AI package may be available. Session limits are set by agreement, and the vendor states it will not stop collecting because you went over, though some AI features are consumption-limited.

What stands out
  • Journeys
  • Felix AI
  • Enterprise plans
Where it costs you
  • No prices, tiers or trial are shown, and the site does not name its country.
  • Contact centre, employee experience and voice of customer are separate add-ons to the core plan.

#11 Adobe Customer Journey Analytics

Analysis Workspace over Experience Platform datasets, for existing Adobe estates

Ranked #11 of 11 in Best Customer Journey Analytics Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Customer Journey Analytics is described as Adobe's next-generation analytics solution, joining Analysis Workspace to Platform data and years of history.

Concepts change from the older product: eVars, props and events are replaced by dimensions and metrics, virtual report suites become data views, and lookups and profiles become datasets. Existing data can be corrected in Platform, and implementations from several datasets can be combined.

What stands out
  • Experience Platform data
  • Analysis Workspace
  • XDM datasets
Where it costs you
  • Data must first be modelled as XDM datasets in Experience Platform, which adds setup before a first report.
  • The pages read show no prices, so cost cannot be judged without an Adobe sales order.

Large enterprises already running Adobe Experience Platform and Analysis Workspace

How to choose customer journey analytics software

Customer journey analytics software joins events from several touchpoints into one timeline per customer, then reports the common paths, drop-off points and conversion routes between them. Products in this area look alike on a feature list, so we would decide these questions first.

  1. 01

    Start with pricing transparency

5 vendors on this page sell by quote, while 6 publish a pricing model you can read today: Mixpanel, PostHog, Amplitude, OpenReplay, LiveSession, Contentsquare.

  2. 02

Ask which country the contract runs through

4 regions are represented (North America 4, Europe 4, Elsewhere 2, Middle East 1). A vendor outside your own legal area is not a problem as such, but it changes who can compel it to hand over data.

  3. 03

Consider whether you want the source

Source code is available for PostHog, OpenReplay. Running it yourself swaps the licence fee for your own upkeep.

Customer journey analytics software starts with the events you collect

Every product here draws journeys from captured events, and the products split on who captures them. Mixpanel and Amplitude need your team to define events before a Flows or Journeys chart shows anything. PostHog and OpenReplay add recordings, so a path can be checked against what the user saw. Glassbox and Celebrus advertise tagless or pre-login capture, which shifts the work from tracking plans to a vendor deployment.

Ask for the first report on your own traffic, not a demo dataset, and note how many events you had to define yourself before it appeared. A tool that needs ninety days of tagging has an hourly cost the licence price hides, and the two open source options, OpenReplay and PostHog, add server work on top of tagging.

  • Count the events your team must define before a first path appears
  • Ask whether capture is tag-based, tagless or pre-login
  • Request the first journey report on your own traffic

Price customer journey analytics software by volume, not by seat

Nearly every vendor here meters volume: events at Mixpanel and Amplitude, sessions at LiveSession, Contentsquare, Glassbox and Quantum Metric, hits at etracker. A path chart is cheap at pilot size and expensive once every page view is an event. Amplitude and Mixpanel publish free event allowances; Quantum Metric, Glassbox and Celebrus show no figures on the pages read.

Model your real monthly volume, then add replay, voice of customer and data pipelines, which several vendors sell as separate lines. Check what happens past the limit: LiveSession stops recording, while Quantum Metric says it keeps collecting. Contentsquare adds a different wrinkle, since Growth is priced by sessions across a whole account within a region, not per site, so a second site rarely needs a second plan.

  • Estimate monthly events or sessions from your own logs
  • List each add-on needed for replay, surveys and exports
  • Ask what happens to data collected above the plan limit

Check where journeys stop in customer journey analytics software

Most tools here see the website or app, not the branch, call centre or email. Celebrus describes offline channels, and Adobe Customer Journey Analytics can join several datasets in Experience Platform, but only after modelling. PostHog's Paths keeps the top 50 transitions and five events per session, and Mixpanel's Flows shows the top three intermediate events, so long journeys get compressed.

etracker and LiveSession describe website journeys. Write down which touchpoints your question needs, then test whether the tool can show them in one timeline without a spreadsheet join. Amplitude's Journeys chart can use a single session as its window, which hides paths spanning days, so check which window your question needs.

  • List the channels your journey question must include
  • Test a long path of eight or more steps
  • Ask how identity is matched across devices

Plan the exit before buying customer journey analytics software

Journey data is raw behaviour, so it should leave in a usable form. OpenReplay and PostHog publish code, which gives a way out if a vendor changes terms, although OpenReplay's ee folder and PostHog's ee directory carry separate licences. Adobe, Quantum Metric and Glassbox are sold on custom agreements, so export and retention are contract terms.

Contentsquare's Pro and Enterprise tiers are the same, quoted after a demo. Ask for the export route in writing, the retention period, and whether raw events or only aggregates are returned, before signing a multi-year term. Self-hosting is not an exit by itself: the OpenReplay README asks for a VM to start, and PostHog's README sets limits on hobby deployments.

  • Get export formats and API limits in writing
  • Compare retention periods with your reporting needs
  • Check whether raw events or aggregates are returned

What goes wrong most often when buying customer journey analytics software

  • Buying on the journey map in the demo without asking how many events your team must instrument before it shows real traffic.
  • Sizing the plan on page views and then being surprised when Contentsquare sessions, Mixpanel events or LiveSession sessions climb with a campaign.
  • Choosing a self-hosted route such as OpenReplay or PostHog for cost, then discovering that staff time and unsupported scaling cost more.
  • Expecting one web journey tool to show offline or call-centre steps, which only a few platforms such as Celebrus describe at all.

Frequently asked questions

8 answers
What is the best customer journey analytics software in 2026?

Mixpanel takes first place among the 11 we reviewed. Mixpanel, Inc. makes a single product, which suits a buyer who wants journey questions answered from tracked events rather than from a suite.

Flows lists the most frequent paths to or from any event, counted by uniques unless you change it. The free plan stops at 1M events a month and Growth bills by volume, so a chatty tracking plan raises the bill. A journey exists only where someone instrumented the events.

Which customer journey analytics tools publish their pricing?

The ones that do, with the model each states:

  • Mixpanel: Free plan up to a monthly event cap; Growth billed by events with published examples; Enterprise quoted.
  • PostHog: Free monthly allowance on each product; usage-based billing once a card is added.
  • Amplitude: Free plan with a monthly event cap; Plus scales by events on a card; Growth and Enterprise quoted.
  • OpenReplay: Self-hosted edition costs nothing; Dedicated cloud price published per hour with 7-day trial; Enterprise custom.
  • LiveSession: Free plan of 1,000 sessions; Basic and Pro prices published by volume; Enterprise custom; 14-day trial.
  • Contentsquare: Free plan of 200k sessions; Growth published by sessions; Pro and Enterprise quoted; 15-day Growth trial.

The remaining 5 sell by quote.

Is there a free customer journey analytics tool?

Mixpanel, PostHog, Amplitude, LiveSession, Contentsquare can be used for free, either as a free plan or a self-hosted edition.

Where are these customer journey analytics software vendors established?

Vendor countries on this page, North America 4, Europe 4, Elsewhere 2, Middle East 1:

  • Mixpanel: United States.
  • PostHog: United States.
  • Amplitude: United States.
  • OpenReplay: Not stated by the vendor.
  • LiveSession: Poland.
  • etracker: Germany.
  • Celebrus: United Kingdom.
  • Glassbox: Israel.
  • Quantum Metric: Not stated by the vendor.
  • Contentsquare: France.
  • Adobe Customer Journey Analytics: United States.
Which customer journey analytics tools are open source?

PostHog, OpenReplay.

Which customer journey analytics tools can you host yourself?

PostHog, OpenReplay. 9 products offer no self-hosted option.

What should you use instead of Mixpanel?

Second is PostHog, which suits Buyers who want to check a route in Paths and then open the matching recordings under one login. Third is Amplitude, which suits teams that want to compare the routes of converting and dropped-off users in one chart.

Who should not buy Mixpanel?

Buyers who need journeys reconstructed without any tagging work. A route only appears for events someone has instrumented, so gaps in the tracking plan become gaps in the journey..
