Disclosure

How this site makes money, stated in full, because a ranking you cannot audit is worth nothing.

Commissioned analysis

A vendor can commission an analysis of their own product. Where that happens the page names the commissioner at the top and keeps naming them. The commissioner can correct a factual error about their own product; the judgements in the piece remain ours, including the drawbacks.

We do not sell edits to an existing guide, and we do not publish sponsored work that is dressed up as independent.

Commercial relationships and rankings

Commercial relationships can affect which products we cover and where they appear on a page. They do not change what an entry says about a product, including the criticism of it.

Every ranked list carries a disclosure directly above it saying so. We do not put that notice only in the footer, because a reader scrolling a ranking should not have to go looking for it.

Commission on outbound links

Some links to vendor websites are commercial. If you click one and go on to buy, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and the vendor cannot buy a better verdict with it.

Commercial links carry rel="sponsored nofollow", so search engines are told what they are as well as readers.

What money cannot buy

A vendor cannot buy inclusion in a category if the product does not belong there, cannot buy removal of criticism, cannot buy the removal of a competitor, and cannot review a page before it is published. Editorial change requests are accepted where a factual claim is wrong; they are declined where the disagreement is about our judgement.
