How this site makes money, stated in full, because a ranking you cannot audit is worth nothing.

Commissioned analysis

A vendor can commission an analysis of their own product. Where that happens the page names the commissioner at the top and keeps naming them. The commissioner can correct a factual error about their own product; the judgements in the piece remain ours, including the drawbacks.

We do not sell edits to an existing guide, and we do not publish sponsored work that is dressed up as independent.

Commercial relationships and rankings

This is the specific version of the notice that sits above every ranked list. Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently.

Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order.

A vendor can also be listed without paying, at position eleven or lower, in return for a link to that category page from its own site. That listing gets the same entry as every other product.

Every ranked list carries the short version of this directly above it, with a link here. We do not put it only in the footer, because a reader scrolling a ranking should not have to go looking for it.

What we do not earn

We take no commission on anything you buy after leaving this site. There are no affiliate links, no tracking redirects and no revenue share with a vendor whose product you clicked. If you buy something we ranked, we do not find out and we are not paid for it.

Every vendor link on the site carries rel="nofollow", so none of the ranking credit a search engine might otherwise pass travels with a paid placement. They are all marked identically, whatever the arrangement behind them, which means the markup tells you nothing about the arrangement behind a link.

Corrections

A vendor cannot buy inclusion in a category if the product does not belong there, and cannot review a page before it is published. Change requests are accepted where a factual claim is wrong and checked against the evidence.
