Braze alternatives: 11 customer engagement platforms compared

Braze is bought by consumer brands that want one orchestration layer across email, push, SMS and WhatsApp, and the search for an alternative usually starts with the quote. Pricing is metered by monthly active users and only appears after a sales conversation, and the AI features sit on the upper editions. Teams move to vendors that print a price, bill by profile, or concentrate on one channel.

Short answer: The first three alternatives to Braze in our customer engagement platform ranking are Customer.io, Iterable and OneSignal. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose Customer.io if you want a published entry price and an EU data region for event-triggered messaging. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Customer Engagement Platforms in 2026, and each says where it differs from Braze.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

Braze

#11 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking

  • Pricing: Quoted per organisation by monthly active users; trial offered
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Large consumer brands running orchestrated journeys across many messaging channels
  • Not for: Small teams wanting published prices or a free entry
01

Why buyers look past Braze

  1. 01

The price is a quote, and the edition decides what it covers

Braze sells Go, Select, Pro and Enterprise, and its pricing page shows no amounts, only a route to a quote or a free trial. The editions differ by governance and AI: predictive AI and AI-personalised recommendations start at Pro, and the agent console with advanced experimentation at Enterprise. A buyer who wants those features is quoted for the upper tiers from the first call.

  2. 02

Metering by monthly active users rewards a small, engaged base

Cost follows how many users are active in a month, so a large app with many dormant installs is cheaper than one with a broad, busy audience. That is workable for large consumer brands. For a team with a few thousand users, the minimum commitment of a quoted contract is out of proportion to what it sends.

  3. 03

A cross-channel suite, when you may need one or two channels

Every edition carries email, push, SMS, RCS, WhatsApp, in-app messages and content cards, plus cloud data ingestion. A company that only sends push and transactional email pays for an orchestration platform it will not fully use, and a narrower product or a profile-based tool does that job with a simpler contract.

What each one does differently

Customer.io

United States · Essentials tier published; Premium billed yearly; Enterprise quoted

Prints its ladder: Essentials from $100 a month for 5,000 profiles and 1 million emails, Premium from $1,000 a month billed yearly, Enterprise by quote. Data goes in as events and accounts are held in a US or EU region. It lacks Braze's content cards and WhatsApp-led tooling depth.

Switch from Braze if you want a published entry price and an EU data region for event-triggered messaging.

Customer.io, #2 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

Iterable

United States · Request a demo; no prices on the site

Same buyer as Braze, a consumer brand with a vendor-led evaluation, with campaigns, journeys, catalog data and AI decisioning on one platform. The site shows no price and sells through a demo. You swap one quote for another, so the gain is fit, not cost.

Switch from Braze if you want a direct enterprise rival and the quote is acceptable if the journey tooling fits better.

Iterable, #9 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

OneSignal

United States · Free plan; Growth from a published monthly rate; Professional and Enterprise quoted

Free plan with every channel, Growth from $19 a month, and per-unit rates (push at $0.012 per monthly active user, web push per subscriber, email per send). Free allows 3 active journeys and Growth 5. It is built for self-service signup, not for orchestration at Braze's scale.

Switch from Braze if you are a small team that wants to start push and email today without a sales call.

OneSignal, #3 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

CleverTap

United States · Core tier published by monthly active users with 30-day trial; Pro and Ultimate by demo

Core starts at $85 a month with a 30-day trial before billing, scaled by monthly active users up to 100,000. Pro and Ultimate are by demo, and Ultimate keeps up to 10 years of data. WhatsApp Direct, geofencing and several analytics functions are paid add-ons.

Switch from Braze if you want a priced entry tier and a month to test before any contract.

CleverTap, #5 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

MoEngage

Not stated by the vendor · Quoted per organisation; metered by monthly tracked users

Two plans, Growth and Enterprise, metered by monthly tracked users, with no figure on the plans page. The vendor lists six data centres and connected channels such as WhatsApp, RCS, LINE, Viber and Telegram. Personalize and Inform are separate add-ons.

Switch from Braze if your users are spread over several regions and regional data centres matter in the contract.

MoEngage, #7 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

Klaviyo

United States · Free plan for up to 250 profiles; paid plans configured in a plan builder

Free for up to 250 profiles and 500 emails a month, then a price built in an on-page plan builder. It centres on email and SMS with a customer hub and analytics, not on app push and in-app. Orchestration is narrower than Braze.

Switch from Braze if email and SMS are the revenue channels and an app is secondary.

Klaviyo, #6 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

Airship

United States · Quoted per organisation; Essentials tier self-service, price not shown

Splits into a quoted Experience Platform and a self-service Essentials tier with no price shown. Its distinct channel is mobile wallet beside push, SMS, RCS and MMS and email. The vendor advertises guaranteed results, with terms to be read in the contract.

Switch from Braze if mobile wallet passes are part of your loyalty or ticketing programme.

Airship, #8 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

Batch

France · Request a demo; no prices on the site

A French vendor, IMEDIAPP SA in Paris, whose legal notice states ownership of the website. It describes an architecture outside the US CLOUD Act and connectors for Snowflake and BigQuery. Pricing is a demo request. Scale and channel breadth are smaller than Braze's.

Switch from Braze if European data sovereignty is a procurement requirement.

Batch, #4 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

Pushwoosh

Not stated by the vendor · Per 1,000 monthly active users, published; free up to 1,000 users

One metric on a public page: $13 per 1,000 monthly active users for all channels, $7 for push only, and $5 per 1,000 unique recipients for email only. A limited offer of $7 until 31 December locks the price for 24 months. Orchestration is plainer than Braze's.

Switch from Braze if you want a flat per-user price you can calculate before talking to anyone.

Pushwoosh, #1 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

WebEngage

India · Request a demo; no prices on the site

Sells six products on one customer record (data, analytics, segmentation, campaigns, automation, personalisation) with an agent layer called Atlas. The site lists fifteen channels and offers a demo, not a price. Most case studies on the site are from India and the Middle East.

Switch from Braze if your market is India or the Gulf and you want local references.

WebEngage, #10 of 12 in our customer engagement platform ranking →

Bloomreach Engagement

United States · Request pricing; entry level stated on the site

Pairs customer data with search and conversational agents. The pricing page says there is no public rate card and that smaller brands start at $60,000 a year. It targets brands with large audiences and catalogues, so it is dearer than the options above.

Switch from Braze if commerce search and engagement should share one data layer.

When Braze is still the right choice

Stay on Braze when you run messaging at consumer scale across many channels and have a team that uses the orchestration, the cloud data ingestion and the AI editions. The quote and the user-based metering are a cost of that scope, and the platform has EU clusters (EU-01 and EU-02) for data residency. Leaving makes little sense if you already pay for Pro or Enterprise features and use them, because most alternatives here cover fewer channels or carry a lower ceiling.

05

What moving off Braze involves

  1. 01

Rebuild the data model before the journeys

Braze holds custom attributes, events and catalogs that a new tool must receive through its own SDK and API. Export users, segments and event history first, then rebuild the Canvases as journeys in the target tool. Journey logic rarely maps one to one, so list every active Canvas and rank them by revenue before you start.

  2. 02

Run both platforms during the switch

Push tokens and email reputation do not move with a contract. Keep Braze live while the new tool warms its sending domain and collects tokens through the updated SDK. Cut over channel by channel, and confirm opt-in records transfer with their timestamps before the first send.

  3. 03

    Ask for terms in writing

Ask the new vendor what its meter counts, which channels and exports are add-ons, and how long data is retained. Ask Braze what your renewal date is and what an export covers. The price list differs sharply between a printed per-user rate and a quote.

Questions about replacing Braze

6 answers
How much does Braze cost?

The pricing page shows no amounts. It offers a trial and a quote, with prices metered by monthly active users across four editions (Go, Select, Pro, Enterprise).

Which Braze edition includes predictive AI?

Predictive AI and AI personalised recommendations start at Braze Pro. The agent console with advanced experimentation is listed at Enterprise.

Does Braze offer EU data hosting?

Its documentation lists EU-01 and EU-02 instances with endpoints in Frankfurt, next to US instances. Braze, Inc. itself is a US company headquartered in New York.

Which Braze alternative publishes a price?

Customer.io (Essentials from $100 a month), OneSignal (Growth from $19 a month), CleverTap (Core from $85 a month) and Pushwoosh (from $7 per 1,000 monthly active users) show amounts on their pricing pages. Klaviyo has a free plan for 250 profiles.

Is there a European alternative?

Batch is registered in Paris as IMEDIAPP SA. Customer.io and Braze both offer EU-hosted regions, though both vendors are US companies.

Can I migrate without losing push subscribers?

Only if the new SDK ships in your app before you cut over, because push tokens are collected by the new SDK. Users who do not open the updated app stay unreachable from the new tool.
