Customer.io vs Braze

Customer.io shows what it costs and starts small, while Braze sells four editions by quote, metered by monthly active users. The channel list is not what separates them. Cost visibility and the route to AI features do.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

  1. 01

    Can you see the price?

Customer.io lists Essentials at $100 per month billed monthly and Premium from $1,000 per month billed yearly. Enterprise is quoted. Braze lists Go, Select, Pro and Enterprise with a trial button and a quote button, and no amounts. A buyer comparing budgets gets numbers from only one of them.

  2. 02

    How usage is metered

Customer.io Essentials includes 5,000 profiles and 1 million emails a month, and push and in-app messages are unlimited on all tiers. Braze states that pricing scales with monthly active users. Both models grow with audience size, but only Customer.io shows where the entry volume sits.

  3. 03

    Channels and AI by edition

Braze lists email, push, SMS, MMS, RCS, WhatsApp and in-app messaging in every edition. Predictive AI and recommendations start at Pro, and the BrazeAI Agent Console at Enterprise. Customer.io's pack names no comparable AI tiering, so for AI tooling the Braze ladder is the better documented one.

    Edge: Braze

  4. 04

    What sits behind the upgrade

On Customer.io, warehouse destinations, managed deliverability and chat support are missing from Essentials and arrive with Premium, a tenfold step in the entry rate. Data export, SSO and the choice of US or EU data centres are on every tier. Braze lists cloud data ingestion and SSO in every edition.

    Depends on the buyer

When neither fits

If you want a free plan or a flat price for a small app, neither fits well. Klaviyo and OneSignal are the other platforms in our category worth a look.
