Best Yard Management Software in 2026

Yard management software tracks trailers, containers and trucks between the gate and the dock door, assigns moves to yard drivers and records who is on site.

This guide ranks thirteen products on setup effort, the cost once gate, tracking and integration modules are added, data exit, and whether the yard tool can be bought alone.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

In short

What yard management software does

Yard management software records trailers and trucks on a logistics site from gate entry to departure, assigns yard moves and dock doors, and reports dwell time and yard inventory.

How we ranked these

5 criteria, in order

Setup effort, true cost, data portability, exit options and buyer fit are the five tests, applied in that order to every yard management tool here. Top three places belong to challengers outside the best-known brands whenever possible, and incumbents follow from four. Reasons for the choice of tests, and for skipping a score out of ten, can be read on the how we work page.

#1 Peripass

Ghent yard software with a per-site monthly entry price and add-on tracks

Ranked #1 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Published pricingEurope

The pricing page lists an entry package from a stated monthly figure per site, billed annually, with four configured logistics flows, driver self-registration, automated driver messages, an optional 4G kiosk and digital dispatching through a virtual yard.

The Security, Efficiency and Throughput tracks start higher. The product page names trailer plate verification, visitor management and weighing automation. Hosting and contract length are not stated on the pages read, so confirm both before signing.

What stands out
  • Per-site pricing
  • Truck registration
  • Weighbridge integration
Where it costs you
  • The entry package covers 75 trucks a day, so high-volume sites need a track or a larger agreement.
  • Integrations and weighing links belong to the Efficiency track, and yard automations to Throughput, each priced separately.
Right for

Mid-size sites wanting yard control with prices they can model before any call

Wrong for

Sites handling hundreds of trucks daily on one agreement

#2 Goramp

Vilnius-built cloud yard and dock platform with driver self check-in

Ranked #2 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestEurope

The home page groups features under scheduling, execution, communication and visibility: dynamic dock planning, driver self check-in, configurable gate management, digital yard checks and carrier performance. It calls the product a cloud-based yard and dock management solution.

The about page puts the founding in Vilnius in 2017. The pricing path we tried returned an error, and the home page offers only a demo. Ask about integration with your warehouse system and what the live map needs on site.

What stands out
  • Cloud-based
  • Driver self check-in
  • Live yard map
Where it costs you
  • No plan or price appears on the pages read, so cost comparison has to wait for a demo.
  • The site does not say which hardware, such as cameras or tags, the live map depends on.

Wrong for

Buyers who need published prices or a named hardware list

#3 C3 Solutions

Montreal vendor of yard and dock software sold as SaaS only

Ranked #3 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

The FAQ states C3 Yard is available only as software as a service, with a one-time implementation fee and an annual subscription based on yearly trailer check-ins; support runs around the clock in every programme.

Integration uses web services or XML and flat files over SFTP. Shunters use a progressive web app or the C3 Hub app. The page needs only a computer or mobile device with internet access, with no tags or RFID mentioned.

What stands out
  • Yard and dock
  • Shunter app
  • Volume-based fee
Where it costs you
  • Pricing rises with gate volume, and the service programme tier changes what support and test environments you get.
  • Appointment booking is a separate module, so yard and dock scope must be priced together.
Right for

Distribution centres wanting a hosted yard system that scales its fee with trailer volume

Wrong for

Teams wanting a bundled single price with no implementation fee

CanadaOne-time implementation fee plus annual subscription by gate check-in volume; SaaS only

#4 YardView

Colorado-based yard system with 1998 roots and gate-to-dock coverage

Ranked #4 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

The about page lists the company as incorporated in 1998, moved to Amazon Web Services in 2013, and later added a reporting API, GPS on driver tablets, driver self check-in and single sign-on.

Its headquarters footer is in Englewood, Colorado. The same timeline ends with Vector acquiring YardView in 2026. The only pricing language is a line about tailored solutions at a reasonable price, so ask for a written quote.

What stands out
  • Detention tracking
  • Blind seal check
  • AWS-hosted
Where it costs you
  • The company's timeline records an acquisition by Vector in 2026, which may change support and contracts.
  • No prices or trial appear on the pages read, so cost stays unknown until a demo.

The yard management page lists dock door scheduling, gate management, asset tracking, appointment scheduling, yard space optimisation, performance reporting, automated alerts and a carrier communication portal.

It says data reaches users on mobile devices and that solutions are designed, tested and supported in the USA. The footer gives an address in Beavercreek, Ohio, and the company says it has operated since 1989. Confirm deployment, integration depth and cost directly.

What stands out

  • Dock door scheduling
  • Carrier portal

#6 YardNexus

Modular yard tools for tasking, gate flow and trailer location

Ranked #6 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

The home page names real-time tasking and prioritisation, digital yard inventory and yard health reporting under NexusYMS; workflow automation, asset tracking at the gate and YMS integration under NexusGate; and location mapping with compliance and audit support under NexusLocate.

The footer address is in Alpharetta, Georgia, and describes YardNexus Technologies as a Lazer Logistics affiliate company. Ask how the modules are licensed and what NexusLocate needs on the yard.

What stands out
  • Three modules
  • Gate automation
  • Lazer affiliate
Where it costs you
  • The location module may depend on hardware that the page never names.
  • The footer ties the company to Lazer Logistics, so it is not fully independent.
Right for

Sites wanting to begin with gate automation and add yard tasking later

Wrong for

Buyers who want one price and one contract for everything

United StatesThree modules; amounts absent from the home page

#7 Opendock

Dock scheduling platform that added yard management and AI gate cameras

Ranked #7 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

The about page says Opendock launched in 2018, was bought by Loadsmart in 2021 and reports 4,500 warehouses and 14 million appointments a year.

The yard page names real-time tracking, custom yard layouts, smart truck assignments, time-stamped image logs and ISR 2305 compliance reporting. A 2025 entry adds real-time yard visibility. Loadsmart is based in Chicago. Ask what happens to your data if Loadsmart changes strategy.

What stands out
  • Dock scheduling
  • SmartGate cameras
  • Loadsmart-owned
Where it costs you
  • The history page dates the yard module to 2025, so it has a shorter record than the scheduling product.
  • No prices or trial are stated on the pages read.

Alpharetta yard software with driver kiosks and tracking inside the yard

Ranked #8 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

The about page says Kaleris was built from PINC Solutions, ShipXpress and RailCarRx and later added Navis, and serves over 650 companies. The headquarters is Alpharetta, Georgia. A bundle with Kaleris TMS is possible.

What stands out
  • Driver kiosks
  • RTLS tracking
  • TMS pairing
Where it costs you
  • The payback claim of three to six months comes from the vendor and no pricing backs it.
  • Kiosks and real-time location tracking imply hardware work that the page does not cost.
Right for

Large networks with complex yards, gates and container or rail links

Wrong for

Small single-site yards with a short setup budget

United StatesNot listed; can be bought alone or with Kaleris transportation management

#9 Generix Yard Management

French yard module attached to a warehouse or transport system

Ranked #9 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestEurope

The yard page describes yard operations and planning with loading and unloading tasks, multi-stop routes, calendar sync, a collaborative carrier portal where carriers pick slots, and appointment management with SMS.

The about page puts the headquarters in Lesquin, France, and lists more than 3,000 clients and over 850 staff. It names Pleiade Investissement as the historical shareholder and a 2025 refinancing. Ask for a standalone price and an exit clause.

What stands out
  • WMS add-on
  • Carrier portal
  • SMS to drivers
Where it costs you
  • The module is presented as an add-on, so a site with another warehouse system may find less value.
  • Hosting, price and trial are not stated on the page read.
Right for

Existing Generix warehouse or transport users who want to add yard control

Wrong for

Sites running other warehouse systems and wanting a standalone yard tool

FranceNot listed; offered as a module for Generix warehouse or transport software

#10 IFS Softeon

Yard control bundled inside a configurable warehouse management system

Ranked #10 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

On a yard shortlist, Softeon is a bundle rather than a product. The yard page lists appointment scheduling for moves, deliveries and pickups, task-level audits of moves inside the yard, graphical live inventory, door scheduling, alerts for container demurrage, printed gate passes and temperature checks on RF scanners.

All of it is included with the warehouse system. That keeps buying simple for existing users and rules it out for everyone else, and the page states neither price nor hosting.

What stands out
  • Bundled with WMS
  • Gate passes
  • Door scheduling
Where it costs you
  • Yard features come only with the Softeon warehouse system, so a site on another WMS has nothing to buy.
  • The yard page gives no prices and no hosting statement, so cost and deployment need a sales call.
Right for

Sites that already run or plan to run Softeon for the warehouse and want gate and dock control from the same vendor

Wrong for

Yards that need a stand-alone tool next to an existing warehouse system from someone else

United StatesIncluded with the warehouse system; no separate prices on the page read

Yard module of a visibility platform, sold on an outcome model

Ranked #11 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestElsewhere

The Site Intelligence page names a Facility Twin that models trailers, docks, appointments and gate events, a Shipment Twin feeding live ETAs, a digital worker for appointment management, computer vision at the gate, network benchmarking and yard reefer monitoring.

It states the offer as Outcome-as-a-Service and points to an outcome advisor. The page shows only a copyright for FourKites, Inc., and gives no address.

What stands out
  • Facility twin
  • Computer vision gate
  • Outcome-based sale
Where it costs you
  • The yard module is bundled into a wider platform, which raises scope and cost.
  • The page names no price, hardware list or hosting model.

Shippers already tracking inbound loads who want yard data in the same platform

Wrong for

Sites wanting a small standalone yard tool with simple pricing

Ranked #12 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

It says the service is an add-on to dock appointment scheduling. The head office is in Waterloo, Ontario, per the corporate fact sheet.

What stands out
  • Dock add-on
  • Audit trail
  • Touch-screen tablets
Where it costs you
  • The yard module needs Descartes dock appointment scheduling underneath it.
  • No price, trial or hosting detail appears on the knowledge-centre page.
Right for

Shippers already running Descartes dock scheduling or other Descartes transportation products

Wrong for

Buyers wanting a yard tool independent of a large portfolio

CanadaAdd-on module to its dock scheduling product; amounts absent

#13 Blue Yonder Warehouse Management

Yard capability offered inside the Blue Yonder warehouse management suite

Ranked #13 of 13 in Best Yard Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Blue Yonder lists yard management as one capability of its Warehouse Management offer, built around gate automation and real-time yard mapping, and says its solutions run on a common data cloud.

For a yard buyer that makes it a suite decision. The sources show no price, no trial and no statement on whether the yard part can be used alone, so those three questions come before any demo. Its US offices are in Texas and Arizona.

What stands out
  • Gate automation
  • Yard mapping
  • Suite capability
Where it costs you
  • The page does not say whether yard management runs without the Warehouse Management product, so a yard-only buyer must ask.
  • No price, trial or hosting detail is given for the yard function.
Right for

Buyers already standardising on the Blue Yonder suite who want gate automation and a yard map under one contract

Wrong for

Teams that only need a yard tool and would be taking on a full supply chain suite for it

United StatesPart of the warehouse suite; amounts absent

How to choose yard management software

Yard management software records trailers and trucks on a logistics site from gate entry to departure, assigns yard moves and dock doors, and reports dwell time and yard inventory. The differences that matter are rarely in the feature list, so this is the order we would work through them.

  1. 01

Decide whether you need a published price

Prices are public at 1 products (Peripass) and on request at the remaining 12, so budget time for quotes if your favourite is in that second group.

  2. 02

Look at where the vendor sits

Check the vendor's home market (North America 9, Europe 3, Elsewhere 1), because that is where subpoenas and data requests arrive first, whatever region holds your files.

Yard management software: standalone product or warehouse add-on

The first question is whether the yard tool can be bought alone. Softeon bundles its yard features into its warehouse product. Generix offers a module for its warehouse and transport systems, Descartes ties its tool to dock appointment scheduling, and Blue Yonder presents yard control as a capability of Warehouse Management.

Peripass, Goramp, YardView, C3 Solutions and ASCTrac present the yard as their own product. A site on an existing warehouse system should ask whether a bundled module is enough, or whether it leaves the buyer managing a second vendor for the dock side. Ask each vendor in writing what happens to the yard module if you later change warehouse system, and whether a standalone licence exists.

  • Ask whether the yard module works without the vendor's warehouse system
  • Write down which warehouse and transport systems you must integrate with
  • Get the standalone price in writing, not only the bundle price

Price per site, per trailer or by outcome: what the bill follows

Few yard vendors publish prices, and the models differ. Peripass lists an entry price per site per month billed annually, covering up to 75 trucks a day, with Security, Efficiency and Throughput tracks above it. C3 Solutions charges a one-time implementation fee plus an annual fee that follows yearly gate volume.

FourKites sells on outcomes after an advisor conversation. YardView, Kaleris, Opendock and Goramp show no price on the pages we read. Model your real volume: trucks per day, number of sites and the integrations you need, because on Peripass integrations sit in a paid track and on C3 the fee grows with volume. Ask for a three-year total including implementation.

  • Count daily gate check-ins per site before asking for quotes
  • Ask which integrations and modules sit outside the entry price
  • Request a three-year total that includes implementation fees

Hardware and gate automation: what the yard actually needs

Yard tools differ in how much equipment they assume. C3 Yard needs only a browser-capable device on the network, and Peripass offers an optional 4G kiosk. Kaleris names kiosks for drivers plus live location tracking, Opendock SmartGate uses AI cameras that log gate movement, and FourKites describes computer vision at check-in.

YardNexus separates a location module, NexusLocate, from its gate and task modules. Cameras, tags and kiosks add cost and installation time that licence quotes often leave out, and a gate that depends on them needs a fallback. Ask each vendor for the full equipment list for one pilot gate, who installs it, and what the system does when a camera or tag fails.

  • Get a written hardware list for one gate and one yard
  • Ask who installs and maintains cameras, tags and kiosks
  • Test a gate outage and see how check-in continues

Ownership and exit: who runs the vendor and how your data leaves

Ownership matters for a tool that sits in the daily flow of trucks. YardView's own timeline records that Vector acquired it in 2026. Loadsmart acquired Opendock in 2021, and YardNexus calls itself a Lazer Logistics affiliate. Generix reports a 2025 debt refinancing involving two private credit funds.

Peripass, Goramp and C3 Solutions state no parent on the pages we read. For any of them, ask for a data export of yard moves, dwell times and appointments in a readable format before signing, and check the notice terms and what a change of owner does to the contract. Run the same export test with every vendor on the shortlist, not only the one you prefer.

  • Ask for a sample export of moves, dwell times and appointments
  • Check notice periods and what changes after an acquisition
  • Confirm who owns the historical yard data on exit

What goes wrong most often when buying yard management software

  • Buying a warehouse suite for its yard module without asking whether the yard function can run on its own.
  • Comparing entry prices without adding the integrations, extra tracks and implementation fees that vendors list separately.
  • Assuming cameras, tags and kiosks come with the licence when the vendor page never names the equipment.
  • Piloting at one quiet gate, so peak-hour check-in queues and detention exposure never get tested.

Frequently asked questions

6 answers
What is the best yard management software in 2026?

Peripass takes first place among the 13 we reviewed. Peripass NV, based in Ghent, is the only yard vendor here that lists prices openly: an entry package per site and three add-on tracks for security, efficiency and throughput.

That makes the first-year cost easy to model. The entry package caps volume at 75 trucks a day, and integrations or yard automations sit in the paid tracks, so a busy site pays for more than the headline figure.

Which yard management tools publish their pricing?

1 out of 13 state a price model on their own site:

  • Peripass: Published per-site monthly prices billed annually; three expansion tracks; trial not stated.

12 vendors do not print a price.

Is there a free yard management tool?

Not among the products reviewed here: no vendor on this list has a free tier worth using.

Where are these yard management software vendors established?

Across 6 countries (North America 9, Europe 3, Elsewhere 1):

  • Peripass: Belgium.
  • Goramp: Lithuania.
  • C3 Solutions: Canada.
  • YardView: United States.
  • ASCTrac: United States.
  • YardNexus: United States.
  • Opendock: United States.
  • Kaleris Yard Management: United States.
  • Generix Yard Management: France.
  • IFS Softeon: United States.
  • FourKites Dynamic Yard: Not stated by the vendor.
  • Descartes Yard Management: Canada.
  • Blue Yonder Warehouse Management: United States.
What should you use instead of Peripass?

Goramp and C3 Solutions are the next two on this page. Goramp is for Manufacturers and 3PLs wanting one cloud tool for appointments and yard tasks; C3 Solutions is for Distribution centres wanting a hosted yard system that scales its fee with trailer volume.

Who should not buy Peripass?

Sites handling hundreds of trucks daily on one agreement. The entry package covers 75 trucks a day, so high-volume sites need a track or a larger agreement..
