Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026

Fraud detection software scores payments, sign-ups and logins, and sometimes underwrites the loss. Products differ in what they watch, who carries a chargeback and how the price is built.

This guide ranks eleven vendors on first-90-day effort, the price at working volume, how data leaves, and whether you can buy without a partner.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. How that works.

In short

What fraud detection software does

Fraud detection software analyses transactions, accounts and devices in real time, scores risk with rules and machine learning, and returns approve, review or decline decisions to shops, banks and platforms.

How we ranked these

5 criteria, in order

In this order: setup effort, what it really costs, how your data comes back out, whether you can leave, and who each fraud detection tool is built for. One rule sits on top of those tests: Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Why those five, and why there is no score out of ten, is on the how we work page.

#1 SEON

Fraud and AML checks sold with a priced monthly starter plan

Ranked #1 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Published pricingElsewhere

SEON combines device, email, phone and IP signals with rules the customer writes, and the pricing page names more than 1,000 signals. The Starter plan lists implementation help through support tickets and email only.

The company shows offices in Budapest, London and Austin but names no country of establishment on the pages we read. A free trial can be requested from the pricing page, and a Shopify and an AWS integration are named in the menu.

What stands out
  • Published starter plan
  • Device and digital footprint signals
  • AML add-on
Where it costs you
  • The Starter quota counts fraud checks, so a shop with a few thousand orders plus sign-ups and logins can pass 2,500 checks quickly.
  • Case management and AML compliance are listed under Premium only, so Starter has no built-in review queue.
Right for

Small fintech or shop teams that want a priced starting plan and own rules.

Wrong for

Buyers who need a guarantee that shifts chargeback liability.

Not stated by the vendorStarter plan published per month with a check quota; Premium quoted

#2 Fingerprint

Device identification API with a free plan and published usage pricing

Ranked #2 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Free tierPublished pricingNorth America

Fingerprint's pricing page lists Free, Pro Plus and Enterprise, with Android calls free up to 500,000 a month and a 14-day trial of Pro Plus on the free plan. Its terms are with FingerprintJS, Inc., a Delaware corporation.

Chargeback handling, case management and transaction scoring are not part of the listed features. The ladder is simple to model: choose a monthly identification volume on the slider and read the price, then compare it with the cost of one engineer-week.

What stands out
  • Free plan
  • Device identification
  • Smart Signals
Where it costs you
  • It returns device signals, not a verdict, so someone must write and tune the decision logic around it.
  • The free plan is capped at 1,000 web and iOS API calls a month and 5 requests per second, which suits a pilot only.
Right for

Engineering teams that want device signals through an API with public prices.

Wrong for

Teams wanting a managed service with analysts and case queues.

United StatesFree plan; Pro Plus published per month plus usage; Enterprise quoted

#3 Ravelin

London fraud platform for online merchants, with a PSP-agnostic 3D Secure server

Ranked #3 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestEurope

The company says it was founded in 2014 and its privacy notice gives a registered office in London. Solutions are split by problem: payments, refunds, accounts, promotions and partners.

Ravelin states PCI 3D Secure certification for its 3DS server. Pricing is not shown, and the page offers a call booking, so the first useful step is a demo with your own refund and chargeback figures.

What stands out
  • Online merchants
  • Refund and promo abuse
  • 3D Secure server
Where it costs you
  • No price or plan list is on the site, so the cost only appears after a booked call.
  • The pages target high-volume online merchants, so a bank or lender looking for AML tooling finds none described.
Right for

Online retailers and marketplaces that also want 3D Secure handled by the same vendor.

Wrong for

Banks and lenders that need AML and KYC modules.

United KingdomPrice on request; demo call booked on the site

#4 Fraud.net

Fraud, entity screening and transaction monitoring from one Delaware company

Ranked #4 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

The terms of service name Fraud.net Inc., a Delaware corporation, and the about page lists offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, India, South Africa and Colombia. The site speaks of a global anti-fraud network and 600+ fraud schemes.

Ask for the data contribution terms, because a shared network implies your events help other customers. Neither a free plan nor a trial is mentioned on the pages we read, so a pilot has to be agreed in the contract.

What stands out
  • Entity screening
  • Transaction monitoring
  • Case management
Where it costs you
  • Pricing is not on the site, and the terms point to signed purchase orders, so plan on a negotiated contract.
  • The solutions pages lean to financial services and payments, so a small web shop gets less guidance.
Right for

Payment processors, lenders and fintechs wanting screening and monitoring together.

Wrong for

Small web shops wanting a priced plan to start today.

United StatesPrice on request; demo booked on the site

#5 Sardine

Behaviour-based fraud and AML tooling for fintechs, banks and merchants

Ranked #5 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestElsewhere

The privacy policy names SardineAI Corp. with SonarAI LLC and SardineAI Payments, Inc. as affiliates, and no country of establishment is stated on the pages we read. Detection is described as behaviour-based.

Check which modules sit on the contract you are offered, because AML and fraud appear as separate product groups. Its sign-up path is a sales conversation, and the pages we read name no free plan or trial, so a pilot has to be agreed with the vendor.

What stands out
  • Fintech focus
  • Bank transfer monitoring
  • Agent-assisted reviews
Where it costs you
  • No pricing page was reachable on 28 October 2026, so cost cannot be compared before a sales call.
  • The breadth of modules (AML, card issuing, sponsor banking) is more than a plain web shop buys.
Right for

Fintechs and banks monitoring several payment rails, with AML from one vendor.

Wrong for

Merchants who only need checkout fraud scoring and a flat price.

Not stated by the vendorPrice on request; no pricing page found

#6 Arkose Labs

Bot and agent defence at sign-up, login and checkout, not payment scoring

Ranked #6 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

The terms are with ARKOSE LABS, INC. at an address in San Mateo, and the about page states a headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area plus offices in Brisbane, Pune, San Jose in Costa Rica, Buenos Aires, London and Madrid.

Test how it treats legitimate AI shopping agents. The site offers a demo request for Titan, and a free maturity model and an SMS toll fraud calculator, which help to size the problem before a call.

What stands out
  • Bot defence
  • AI agent policy
  • Login and sign-up
Where it costs you
  • It targets bots and agents at entry points, so it does not replace a transaction scoring engine for card fraud.
  • No pricing page was reachable on 28 October 2026, so budget has to come from a quote.
Right for

Platforms fighting fake accounts, credential stuffing and scripted checkout abuse.

Wrong for

Shops whose losses are mainly stolen cards and chargebacks.

United StatesPrice on request; no pricing page found

#7 DataVisor

Fraud and AML platform for banks, credit unions, fintechs and insurers

Ranked #7 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

DataVisor states it was founded in 2013 and gives its address as Mountain View, California; the footer names DataVisor, Inc. The platform page presents real-time decisioning, rules and workflow automation, and an AI agent called Vera.

No trial or free plan is mentioned on the pages we read, so a proof of concept on historical data is the route to compare it with others.

What stands out
  • Banks and credit unions
  • Fraud and AML
  • Application fraud
Where it costs you
  • The use cases centre on financial institutions, so a merchant selling goods online finds few matching pages.
  • No price or plan appears on the site, and no pricing page was reachable.
Right for

Banks, credit unions and fintechs that want fraud and AML on one platform.

Wrong for

Online shops looking for a small plan with chargeback protection.

United StatesPrice on request; demo booked on the site

#8 Feedzai

Portuguese fraud, identity and AML vendor selling to banks and acquirers

Ranked #8 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestEurope

The privacy policy names Feedzai - Consultadoria e Inovacao Tecnologica, S.A. with a postal address in Coimbra, Portugal. The product list spans fraud, identity and AML, and a separate Feedzai IQ Score.

Ask whether the AI agent is included or an add-on, because the site presents it as new. The site names no free plan or trial, and the entry point is a demo request, so a scoped proof of concept is the practical way to compare it.

What stands out
  • Banks and acquirers
  • Scam prevention
  • AI agent Farol
Where it costs you
  • Product pages address large banks and acquirers, so a mid-size merchant must work out which modules apply.
  • No pricing page exists on the site, so the contract scope decides cost.
Right for

Banks, acquirers and payment firms wanting fraud and AML across channels.

Wrong for

Small merchants who want self-service sign-up and a price list.

PortugalPrice on request; demo booked on the site

#9 Sift

Payment protection and account defence scored by an API, sold by quote

Ranked #9 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestElsewhere

The site is operated by Sift Science, Inc., and the pages we read give no country. Products are split between payment and account use cases, plus a score API that exposes the model to your own engineers.

Expert services are sold separately, so confirm whether tuning help is in the base contract. The site names no free plan or trial, and its contact route is a sales form, so ask for a test on a sample of historical orders first.

What stands out
  • Payment Protection
  • Account Defense
  • Sift Score API
Where it costs you
  • The pricing page was not found on 28 October 2026, so cost is known only after a sales conversation.
  • Network claims come from the vendor's own page and cannot be checked from outside.
Right for

Mid-size and large online businesses wanting payments and account fraud in one scored API.

Wrong for

Teams that need a published price or a chargeback guarantee.

Not stated by the vendorPrice on request; no pricing page found

#10 Forter

Identity-based fraud, payment optimisation and dispute tools for large retailers

Ranked #10 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestElsewhere

The website terms name Forter Ltd. and are governed by New York law, while the about page lists offices in New York, Denver, Tel Aviv and London without naming a headquarters. The founders describe themselves as Israelis working in the US.

Ask which of the five product areas are in the quote. Because the pricing page is a form, a procurement team should ask for a written quote that lists each product area and the unit used to bill it.

What stands out
  • Identity network
  • Dispute management
  • Agentic commerce
Where it costs you
  • The pricing page is only a contact form, so there is no way to compare cost before a sales process.
  • Positioned at the world's largest brands, so a small shop may find the scope larger than needed.
Right for

Large retailers wanting fraud, payment and dispute tools from one vendor.

Wrong for

Small shops looking for self-serve pricing and quick setup.

Not stated by the vendorQuoted per organisation; contact form only

#11 Signifyd

Percentage-of-order fee with a configurable chargeback guarantee for merchants

Ranked #11 of 11 in Best Fraud Detection Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Signifyd, Inc. states a headquarters in San Jose, California, with offices including New York, Belfast, London and Budapest. The pricing page offers a custom quote form and lists integrations such as Shopify, Adobe and Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

Read the guarantee terms for which chargeback reasons and order types are excluded. The pricing FAQ says it does not use a low introductory rate that later rises, but only the signed quote shows the true percentage.

What stands out
  • Chargeback guarantee
  • Ecommerce
  • Return abuse
Where it costs you
  • Cost grows with order value because the fee is a percentage of approved orders.
  • The percentage depends on vertical, volume and ticket size and is not published, so the quote decides.
Right for

Ecommerce merchants who want chargeback liability moved to the vendor.

Wrong for

Banks and lenders that need account opening and AML checks.

United StatesQuoted per organisation; share of approved order value

How to choose fraud detection software

Fraud detection software analyses transactions, accounts and devices in real time, scores risk with rules and machine learning, and returns approve, review or decline decisions to shops, banks and platforms. The differences that matter are rarely in the feature list, so this is the order we would work through them.

  1. 01

Decide whether you need a published price

2 of the 11 tools here publish what they cost; the other 9 quote per organisation. The ones you can compare without a sales call: SEON, Fingerprint.

  2. 02

Decide how much the jurisdiction matters

These 11 vendors are established in 4 countries across 3 regions (North America 5, Elsewhere 4, Europe 2). That decides whose disclosure law applies to what the vendor holds, wherever the servers are.

What fraud detection software is bought to do

Before comparing vendors, write down which loss you are trying to stop. Stolen-card payments at checkout, fake accounts at sign-up, account takeover at login and refund abuse after delivery need different data and are often sold as different products. Signifyd and Forter sell mainly to ecommerce merchants, Feedzai and DataVisor to banks, and Arkose Labs concentrates on entry points such as login and sign-up.

Fingerprint supplies only device signals. A vendor strong on one loss can be weak on another, so match the product list to your loss report. Keep a one-page loss summary by type, because every vendor demo will otherwise steer you to its own strongest use case.

  • Which loss type is largest in your own data: chargebacks, fake accounts or takeovers?
  • Does the vendor list that loss as a named product or only as a marketing claim?
  • Who reviews borderline orders, your team or the vendor?

Price models: per check, per order, per call or quote

Pricing falls into four forms. SEON publishes a Starter plan with a monthly check quota, Fingerprint publishes a free plan and a Pro Plus plan with a per-1,000 overage, Signifyd takes a share of approved order value, and Ravelin, Sift, Sardine, Feedzai and DataVisor give no price. A quota plan is cheap to start but needs watching when sign-ups, logins and orders all count.

A percentage fee scales with sales. Ask each vendor what counts as one billable event, and model your busiest month, not the average one. A vendor that publishes a price lets you test the arithmetic yourself, while a quote-only vendor makes the comparison depend on the first offer you receive.

  • What exactly is one billable check, call or order?
  • What happens when you pass the quota: overage, upgrade or block?
  • Is case management included, or a higher tier?

Who carries the loss and who owns the rules

A chargeback guarantee, as Signifyd describes, moves liability to the vendor but removes your control over borderline decisions. A score or signal product such as Sift Score API or Fingerprint leaves the loss and the rule writing with you. Rule-driven platforms such as SEON and Fraud.net let analysts edit rules, which requires someone to do it weekly.

Decide which model fits your team size and review hours before the first demo, and ask for the contract wording on exclusions, because a guarantee only covers reasons the contract lists. Whatever you choose, write the review process down first, because a score without a named owner for borderline cases only moves the work around.

  • Does the contract cover chargebacks, and which reason codes are excluded?
  • Can your analysts edit rules without a vendor ticket?
  • How long does a rule change take to go live?

Exit: data, models and the cost of leaving

Fraud tools learn from your labelled history, and that history is what you want to keep. Before signing, ask whether decisions, scores, case notes and labels can be exported in a file format, and whether the export is part of the contract or a service. Network products such as Forter and Fraud.net also use data from many customers, so ask what you contribute and what happens to it after you leave.

Device-signal products tie your rules to their identifiers, so keep a mapping table of visitor IDs in your own database. Put these answers in the contract schedule, not in an email, so that your successor, your auditor and your finance team can find them when the term ends, whoever then owns the account.

  • Can you export all decisions and labels at any time?
  • What happens to your contributed data after termination?
  • Which identifiers are the vendor's and cannot move with you?

What goes wrong most often when buying fraud detection software

  • Buying a bot-defence product such as Arkose Labs to cut stolen-card chargebacks, when it watches entry points, not payment risk.
  • Comparing a quota price from SEON with a percentage fee from Signifyd without modelling your own order, sign-up and login volumes.
  • Treating a free device-signal plan such as Fingerprint as a full fraud system, when it returns signals and leaves the decision to you.
  • Signing for a network product before asking what happens to your contributed data and labelled history when the contract ends.

What is the best fraud detection software in 2026?

SEON leads our ranking of 11. SEON lists a Starter plan on its pricing page with 2,500 fraud checks a month, 10 users and 50 custom rules, so a small team can price the first year without a sales call.

Which fraud detection tools publish their pricing?

2 of the 11, with the pricing model each one publishes:

  • SEON: Starter plan published per month with a check quota; Premium quoted.
  • Fingerprint: Free plan; Pro Plus published per month plus usage; Enterprise quoted.

The other 9 quote per organisation.

Is there a free fraud detection tool?

Fingerprint offer a free tier or a free self-hosted edition.
