Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026
Data security posture management tools locate sensitive data across cloud, SaaS and file stores, show who and what can reach it, and rank the exposures worth fixing first.
This guide ranks eleven products. Order follows set-up effort, the real price once modules are added, exit, independence and buyer fit. Each entry states a limit, and several face ownership changes.
Paid visibility exists on this page, yet it has no say over what an entry says about a product, criticism included. A click on a vendor link earns us nothing. How that works.
In short
What data security posture management software does
Data security posture management software discovers and classifies sensitive data across cloud, SaaS and data-centre stores, maps the identities that can access it, and prioritises exposures for remediation.
Every data security posture management tool was judged on five points in a fixed order: setup effort, cost in practice, how data is exported, how easily you can leave, and the buyer it was designed for. Vendors outside the best-known names fill places 1 to 3 when they exist, and the big brands rank from place 4. Our how we work page explains the choice of these five and why we give no mark out of ten.
Metadata Lake joins data and identity; Snowflake scanner costs nothing
Ranked #1 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Free tierPublished pricingNorth America
Start with the Snowflake sign-up, which needs only a dedicated scan role and native APIs, and read the Impact Score per schema and table. Use the Agent Cards to see which Cortex agents reach sensitive columns.
Then ask for the full platform scoped to your other stores, and request the GraphQL schema so SIEM and catalog owners can test the Metadata Lake before anyone signs.
What stands out
Metadata Lake
Serverless agentless scans
Snowflake scanner
Where it costs you
The no-cost scanner covers Snowflake only; every other data source needs the paid platform.
Testimonials on the site carry job titles instead of names, so reference calls have to be requested from the vendor.
Right for
Snowflake-heavy teams wanting a no-cost first scan before committing to a platform
Wrong for
Buyers who need published prices or a long customer reference list
United StatesFree Snowflake scanner with no expiry; platform pricing through a demo
Agentless in-environment scanning, licensed by volume of stored data
Ranked #2 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestNorth America
Give Sentra one cloud account and one warehouse for the proof of concept, then check where the ephemeral scanner runs and what metadata it stores. Compare its classification with a hand-labelled sample of 200 records, including free-text files.
Ask for the licence quote at three volume tiers, because price follows data at rest, and ask which modules (DLP, access governance, resilience) are separate lines.
What stands out
In-environment scanning
Volume-based licence
M365 Copilot coverage
Where it costs you
Because licences follow stored volume, cold archives and backups count toward the quote even when they hold nothing sensitive.
Accuracy figures such as 98%+ classification come from the vendor's own pages, so run a labelled sample before trusting them.
Right for
Organisations with large, mixed data estates that want scanning to stay inside their accounts
Wrong for
Buyers who want a published price list or self-serve sign-up
United StatesQuoted per organisation, based on data volume at rest; demo request
Language-model classification with access governance and Purview tuning
Ranked #3 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestNorth America
Run it first against Microsoft 365 and one Snowflake database, the sources the site lists, and read what it reports as business-critical versus merely sensitive. Test the remediation actions in a sandbox site before enabling any automatic fix.
If Purview labels are already in use, ask how the optimisation layer reads and corrects them, and request a written connector list with read-only or write permissions.
What stands out
Language-model classification
Data access governance
Purview optimisation
Where it costs you
The route to a price is a demo form, because the site has no pricing page, so budget comparison starts only after sales contact.
Its integration list centres on Microsoft 365, Snowflake, Google Workspace, Slack and Salesforce, so check each less common source against it.
Right for
Mid-sized security teams wanting context-based classification across SaaS stores and file shares
Wrong for
Teams that need a published rate card or a trial login
United StatesDemo request; no price list on the pages checked
Agentless DSPM and DLP sold as two plans on one platform
Ranked #4 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestElsewhere
Pilot DSPM first, using the agentless connectors on one cloud and one SaaS system, and have the team review the auto-remediation previews and blast-radius notes before any action runs.
Compare the 95% precision claim with your own labelled sample. Then ask for the DSPM-only quote beside the DSPM plus DLP quote, and for DataWatcher as its own line, so add-ons stay visible.
What stands out
Agentless setup
DSPM and DLP plans
Identity and AI modules
Where it costs you
Breadth is growing quickly (DLP, identity, agent security), so a DSPM-only buyer has to price which modules sit inside the quoted plan.
The contact page lists New York, Tel Aviv, London and Toronto offices without naming a headquarters, so the contracting entity needs confirming.
Right for
Large estates that want DSPM and DLP bought together from one vendor
Wrong for
Buyers wanting a narrow scanner with a visible price list
Not stated by the vendorQuoted per organisation; two plans (DSPM, DLP) plus add-ons
Discovery, classification and remediation across cloud, SaaS and hybrid data
Ranked #5 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestElsewhere
Ask BigID to scope the demo to one multicloud account and one SaaS source, and to show the remediation actions it runs automatically against those two. Get the hosting answer in writing, since the DSPM page leaves it open.
Request a quote that lists discovery, classification and remediation separately, then compare scan time and false-positive rate against a labelled sample from your own data.
What stands out
Agentless, cloud-native
Remediation workflows
Demo and tour
Where it costs you
The DSPM page does not state the hosting model, so ask whether scanning runs in your accounts or in BigID's.
No trial or price appears on the page checked, leaving a demo as the only way in.
Right for
Buyers with hybrid and multicloud data who want remediation steps built in
Wrong for
Teams wanting a self-serve trial or published pricing
Not stated by the vendorDemo request; no price or trial on the DSPM page
Identity-to-data graph with deployment inside your own cloud or air-gapped
Ranked #6 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestElsewhere
Take the free trial against one cloud account to see findings within hours, as the site says, and test the identity graph on a service account that agents use.
If data residency matters, price the Outpost and federated options separately from managed SaaS. Ask Symmetry and Zscaler in writing what happens to existing contracts, support and roadmap after the deal closes.
What stands out
Identity x data graph
Outpost in your VPC
Air-gapped option
Where it costs you
The 21 May 2026 Zscaler announcement means later packaging may follow Zscaler's, so avoid long commitments before terms are stated.
Prices are not listed and the site gives no address, so confirm the contracting entity before negotiating.
Right for
Regulated teams that need classification to run inside their own network
Wrong for
Buyers who want an independent vendor over a multi-year term
Not stated by the vendorFree trial offered; plan prices not shown on the site
Discovery and classification built to pair with Forcepoint DLP
Ranked #7 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestNorth America
Run discovery on one file server and one cloud store, then list the files the tool marks as shared too broadly. Test the move-with-stub remediation on a copy of a team folder, since it changes where files live.
Ask Forcepoint to quote DSPM alone and with DLP so the cost of the pairing is visible, and request its ROT report as the basis for a storage clean-up case.
What stands out
Pairs with Forcepoint DLP
ROT data clean-up
Permissions remediation
Where it costs you
Enforcement depends on Forcepoint DLP, a separate product with its own quote.
The product page gives no scan-speed or accuracy figures, so those must come from a proof of concept.
Right for
Forcepoint DLP customers adding discovery and permission clean-up to existing policies
Wrong for
Cloud-only teams wanting a standalone posture tool without DLP
United StatesQuoted per organisation; pricing request form on the product page
Ranked #8 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestNorth America
Securiti sells DSPM as one module of a Data Command Center that also covers privacy, access governance, AI governance and a data catalog, and its pricing page says modules are procured by use case.
Veeam announced on 21 October 2025 that it would acquire the company, with CEO Rehan Jalil staying on as a Veeam president. A buyer wanting posture scanning alone must work out what the bundle adds.
What stands out
Module-based quote
Privacy and AI governance
Veeam acquisition announced
United StatesQuoted per organisation, assembled module by module
Agentless data discovery tied to cloud attack paths, now inside Google Cloud
Ranked #9 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestNorth America
Wiz connects to cloud accounts through their APIs and builds a graph of workloads, identities, network exposure and vulnerabilities, so a finding arrives with the path an attacker would use to reach it.
That context is why its queue is shorter than a traditional scanner's. It is a platform sold in quoted modules, the scanner is only part of it, and its move into Google Cloud raises a fair question about neutrality across clouds.
What stands out
Graph context
Agentless discovery
Part of Google Cloud
Where it costs you
Cloud only: nothing for on-premises networks
Modular quoted licensing that grows with every module
Right for
Cloud security teams on several providers wanting one agentless view
Wrong for
Organisations whose risk sits in offices and data centres
United StatesQuoted per organisation; Wiz One, Wiz Go and a la carte options
Assigns monetary value to data and maps attack paths to it
Ranked #10 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestNorth America
Point the proof of concept at Microsoft 365 and one cloud store, and review the data-value scores and attack-path views for plausibility. Use the delegated workflow with two file owners to see whether they can fix exposure unaided.
Ask how Proofpoint will treat Varonis customers and which DSPM product becomes the main one after the 2027 close, and get the answer written into the contract.
What stands out
Data valuation
Attack path view
Microsoft 365 and AI readiness
Where it costs you
The agreement to buy Varonis puts two overlapping posture products under one owner, so the long-term roadmap is unclear.
The product page offers a demo and a brief but no trial or price, which limits comparison before a sales call.
Right for
Microsoft 365 and Copilot estates where file owners should fix their own exposure
Wrong for
Buyers who want a small independent vendor or published prices
United StatesDemo request; no amounts on the product page
Data security platform with access governance and database monitoring
Ranked #11 of 11 in Best Data Security Posture Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestNorth America
Take the risk assessment the vendor offers and use its output as the baseline for a scoped proposal rather than the full platform.
Ask which of the data security, database and identity modules the quote includes, and what the Proofpoint close in 2027 does to renewal dates and support contacts. Test remediation of excessive permissions on one share before wider rollout.
What stands out
Data access governance
Agentless database monitoring
Proofpoint deal pending
Where it costs you
With the Proofpoint deal pending, renewals running beyond mid-2027 carry packaging and support-contact risk.
The platform spans data, identity, email and AI modules, so a DSPM-only buyer must check which parts the quote includes.
Right for
Microsoft-heavy enterprises that want posture, permissions and activity monitoring together
Wrong for
Buyers seeking a lightweight cloud-only scanner or fixed prices
United StatesDemo request; risk assessment offered at no cost; prices not shown
How to choose data security posture management software
Data security posture management software discovers and classifies sensitive data across cloud, SaaS and data-centre stores, maps the identities that can access it, and prioritises exposures for remediation. Rather than compare features, settle the following points one after another.
01
Work out how much a sales call is worth to you
Only 1 of the 11 print a price; 10 quote per organisation. Comparable without a sales call: Bedrock Data.
02
Weigh the vendor's home jurisdiction
The vendors on this page are based in 2 countries (North America 8, Elsewhere 3). The country of the contracting company sets which authorities can ask it for your data, whatever the hosting region.
Separate posture scanning from enforcement in the shortlist
DSPM products find sensitive data, map who can reach it and rank the risk, but only some of them block or fix anything on their own. Forcepoint DSPM hands enforcement to Forcepoint DLP, Cyera sells DLP as its second plan, and Varonis bundles database monitoring and access governance around the same scans.
Bedrock Data and Sentra stress posture and context, with controls arriving through modules. Decide first whether a security team will read reports and open tickets, or whether the tool should rewrite permissions itself. The answer changes who owns the tool, which integrations you need and how much damage a wrong classification can do before somebody notices the mistake.
Will findings go to tickets or trigger automatic fixes?
Which team owns the permission changes the tool proposes?
Is a separate DLP product already running?
Ask what drives the quote before comparing prices
None of the vendor pages checked shows an amount, so the comparison runs on what each one meters. Sentra licenses by volume of data at rest, so backups and archives enter the quote. Securiti assembles a quote module by module, Cyera offers DSPM and DLP as two plans with add-ons, and Wiz packages Wiz One, Wiz Go and a la carte options.
Bedrock Data stands apart with a Snowflake scanner at no cost and no expiry. Collect your stored terabytes, data stores, SaaS tenants and expected agents once, send the same inventory to each vendor, and require the quote to name every module, so that no add-on can appear unannounced at the first renewal.
Is the unit data volume, data stores, users or modules?
Which add-ons are separate lines on the quote?
Does a no-cost tier exist for a first scan?
Plan for ownership changes before signing a term
The category is consolidating fast, and four products on this page have a changing owner. Veeam announced on 21 October 2025 that it would acquire Securiti. Wiz describes itself as part of Google Cloud, Symmetry Systems announced on 21 May 2026 that it is joining Zscaler, and Proofpoint signed an agreement to acquire Varonis in October 2026, with the close expected in the first half of 2027.
Proofpoint DSPM and Varonis will then overlap under one owner. Independent vendors such as Bedrock Data, Sentra and Concentric AI carry a different risk, since an acquirer may approach them too. Write exit, data-return and price-protection clauses that still apply after a change of control, and ask for them before the signing date.
What happens to the contract if the vendor is acquired?
Can we terminate or re-price after a change of control?
Which product will the acquirer keep after merging overlap?
Test classification on your own labelled sample
Accuracy numbers on vendor sites cannot be compared: Sentra cites 98%+ classification accuracy, Cyera cites 95% precision, and neither describes its test data. Build a sample of a few hundred records from your own stores, including free text, scanned documents and tables with unlabelled columns, and mark which are sensitive.
Run every shortlisted tool against it and count misses and false alarms. Also record where the scan runs: Sentra and Bedrock Data say analysis stays in your environment, Symmetry offers an Outpost in your VPC, and BigID's DSPM page does not state its hosting. A tool that scans fast but misreads your data will bury the team in noise, and the sample shows that early.
Which labelled sample will every vendor scan?
Where does the scanning compute run and what metadata leaves?
How are false positives reported and suppressed?
What goes wrong most often when buying data security posture management software
Treating a vendor's accuracy claim as a measured result, when the test data behind it is not shown.
Buying the full platform when the first need is only a map of where sensitive data sits.
Signing a multi-year term with a vendor whose acquisition has already been announced, without change-of-control terms.
Scanning only cloud buckets and forgetting file shares and SaaS stores, which the Wiz DSPM page does not list as sources.

Frequently asked questions
6 answers
What is the best data security posture management software in 2026?
Bedrock Data takes first place among the 11 we reviewed. Bedrock Data keeps classification, lineage and entitlements in one Metadata Lake that other tools can query over GraphQL and MCP.
Scanning is serverless and agentless, and the site says data is analysed where it lives, never copied out. A separate Snowflake offering finds PII, PCI and PHI and maps Cortex agents to the tables they reach. Every other source needs the paid platform, whose price the site does not show.
Which data security posture management tools publish their pricing?
1 out of 11 state a price model on their own site:
Bedrock Data: Free Snowflake scanner with no expiry; platform pricing through a demo.
The remaining 10 sell by quote.
Is there a free data security posture management tool?
Bedrock Data have a free plan or free self-hosted edition.
Where are these data security posture management software vendors established?
The headquarters are spread over 2 countries and 2 regions, North America 8, Elsewhere 3:
Bedrock Data: United States.
Sentra: United States.
Concentric AI: United States.
Cyera: Not stated by the vendor.
BigID: Not stated by the vendor.
Symmetry Systems: Not stated by the vendor.
Forcepoint DSPM: United States.
Securiti: United States.
Wiz: United States.
Proofpoint DSPM: United States.
Varonis: United States.
What should you use instead of Bedrock Data?
Second is Sentra, which suits Organisations with large, mixed data estates that want scanning to stay inside their accounts. Third is Concentric AI, which suits Mid-sized security teams wanting context-based classification across SaaS stores and file shares.
Who should not buy Bedrock Data?
Buyers who need published prices or a long customer reference list. The no-cost scanner covers Snowflake only; every other data source needs the paid platform..
Vendors who think their data security posture management software product should be here can tell us about it: what it does, who it is for. The call is ours, and software advice sets out what being listed means.
