KnowBe4 alternatives: 11 security awareness training tools compared

Buyers searching for a KnowBe4 alternative are usually weighing the three-year term behind its published seat prices, or finding that a training library is more than a ten-person firm needs. They move to vendors that sell by card for a year, to platforms with a free tier, or to European operators that quote after a call.

Short answer: The first three alternatives to KnowBe4 in our security awareness training software ranking are Hook Security, Wizer and Keepnet Labs. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose Hook Security if you have under 60 staff and want a one-year card purchase that runs without a dedicated admin. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Security Awareness Training Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from KnowBe4.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

KnowBe4

#10 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking

  • Pricing: Published per seat per month on a 3-year term; large teams quoted
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Mid-size companies wanting a published per-seat price and broad content
  • Not for: Buyers who cannot commit to three years or need a small plan
01

Why buyers look past KnowBe4

  1. 01

A list price that assumes three years

KnowBe4 publishes a monthly per-seat table, but every figure on it is labelled as a three-year term and dated May 2026. In euros the SAT Foundation band for 25 to 50 seats reads €2.28 and SAT Advanced €3.56 per seat per month, and the vendor adds that taxes are excluded and prices may change. A buyer who wants twelve months to test whether staff behaviour changes has to ask for different terms.

  2. 02

    A security-awareness product inside a larger platform

The pricing page now lists inbound and outbound email security and an incident response product beside the training tiers, and the company history records the Egress acquisition in July 2024 after Vista Equity Partners took the business private in February 2023. Someone who only wants simulations and modules reads a navigation built around a broader human-risk platform and may prefer a vendor that stays narrower.

  3. 03

No published price once you pass 1,000 seats

The bands stop at 501 to 1,000 seats and the line above reads Get a quote for both tiers. Large rollouts negotiate privately, so the only public figure a procurement team can compare is the smaller-volume one, and rivals that publish further up the volume scale or state a fixed annual price are easier to put in a spreadsheet.

What each one does differently

Hook Security

United States · Published annual prices up to 60 seats; larger teams quoted

States two annual prices, $499 for up to 10 seats and $1,199 for 11 to 60, paid by card through Stripe, with the whole platform in both. It is built around an Autopilot programme and MSP resale. From 61 seats the price is quoted, and the site offers a demo instead of a trial.

Switch from KnowBe4 if you have under 60 staff and want a one-year card purchase that runs without a dedicated admin.

Wizer

Not stated by the vendor · Free plan with basic videos; paid Boost plan published per user per year

Has a free plan with basic training, limited reporting and no single sign-on. The paid Boost plan costs $25 per user per year on a three-year term billed annually, with a 25-user minimum for online purchase. The vendor runs a comparison page titled Wizer vs KnowBe4.

Switch from KnowBe4 if you want to pilot with real employees at no cost before committing to a term.

Keepnet Labs

United Kingdom · Published monthly per user by volume band on a 3-year basis; above 1,000 users quoted

Prints a per-user monthly table for Essentials, Plus, 360 and Enterprise, again on a three-year MSRP basis, which in euros starts at €1.56 to €2.72 for 25 to 50 users. Email, SMS, voice and QR simulations are listed. Compliance 360, agentic AI and the incident responder cost extra.

Switch from KnowBe4 if you want a published euro table with simulation channels beyond email at the lower tiers.

Keepnet Labs, #7 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking →

SoSafe

Germany · Published from-price with 50 seats, then degressive per user

A German vendor whose plans start from €625 a month billed annually for 50 seats, then fall per user without threshold jumps. E-learning is offered in 36 languages. Core and Advanced are both priced on request, so the starting figure covers only the smallest account.

Switch from KnowBe4 if you have a multilingual workforce in Europe and prefer a vendor headquartered there.

SoSafe, #6 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking →

Hoxhunt

Finland · Quoted per employee after a 30-minute scoping call

Sends simulations by email, SMS, phone call and Teams, personalised by department and location, and sells email incident response automation next to the training. Pricing is per employee after a 30-minute scoping call; the page shows no figure. Finnish operator with a Helsinki head office.

Switch from KnowBe4 if a security team wants employee reporting behaviour to drive the programme and accepts a scoping call first.

Hoxhunt, #4 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking →

Phished

Belgium · Quoted per organisation across Core, Advanced and All-in-One

A Belgian company in Leuven that sells Core, Advanced and All-in-One through a conversation, with no amounts on the page. Zero Incident Mail and repeat-offender training arrive at Advanced; custom training and Power BI reporting only at All-in-One. It also runs a partner programme.

Switch from KnowBe4 if automated simulations and a staged feature ladder suit you and a Benelux supplier is a plus.

Phished, #5 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking →

usecure

United Kingdom · Quoted per user per month; trial on request

Four modules, uLearn, uPhish, uPolicy and uBreach, aimed at MSPs and in-house IT teams, with a free trial offered on its site. The contracting company is usecure Limited under English law. Its pricing page publishes no amounts, so a quote is needed.

Switch from KnowBe4 if an IT generalist or MSP wants policy acknowledgement and credential monitoring in the same tool as training.

usecure, #3 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking →

Adaptive Security

United States · Quoted per seat; add-ons such as voice phishing priced separately

Priced per seat from employee count and chosen products, with voice phishing as a separately priced add-on. Beyond training it sells deepfake simulations, agentic email security and AI governance. The pricing page does not promise a trial and refers to the demo for that discussion.

Switch from KnowBe4 if your main worry is deepfake and voice impersonation of executives rather than classic email phishing.

Adaptive Security, #9 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking →

Living Security

United States · Quoted per organisation, each product quoted on its own

Sells a platform that draws on signals from tools you already run, with phishing, vishing, multi-channel attacks, awareness training, content studio, CyberEscape Online and AI agent governance each quoted on its own. Its pricing page is a quote form only.

Switch from KnowBe4 if you run a human-risk programme tied to risk data and want to buy only the products you will use.

Living Security, #8 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking →

Proofpoint Security Awareness

United States · Request a demo; no prices on the product page

Training sold under the ZenGuide name inside Proofpoint's collaboration security range. The page describes risk-based enrolment, a Report Suspicious button on email and mobile, and accessibility settings. No prices or trial appear, and the product reads as an extension of its email security.

Switch from KnowBe4 if Proofpoint already protects your mail and you want training under the same vendor contract.

Proofpoint Security Awareness, #12 of 12 in our security awareness training software ranking →

Cofense

United States · Request a demo; no prices on the product pages

Switch from KnowBe4 if the real need is removing reported phishing from mailboxes, with training secondary.

When KnowBe4 is still the right choice

KnowBe4 stays the sensible answer when a mid-size company wants a published per-seat table, a broad content library and a single vendor for training, simulations and the email-security products now sold beside them, and is content with a three-year term. The bands from 25 to 1,000 seats let a finance team budget without a call, and the vendor offers non-profit and competitive upgrade discounts on request. Moving makes less sense if the contract term is acceptable and the reporting already meets your auditors.

05

What moving off KnowBe4 involves

  1. 01

Exporting history before the term ends

Training completions, simulation results and policy acknowledgements may be the evidence an auditor asks for. Ask KnowBe4 what can be exported and in which format before you cancel, and find out whether the new vendor can import users from Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or Okta so that enrolment starts on day one.

  2. 02

    Reporting buttons and mail rules

A Phish Alert button or allow-listing for simulation senders will have been set up in your mail system. Remove the old button and the old allow-list entries once the new vendor is live, otherwise staff see two report buttons and test mails from the previous tool keep getting through.

  3. 03

Tell staff the content has changed

Employees recognise the look of the old modules and phishing templates. A short note announcing the new platform, who sends the simulations and what to do with real reports avoids a spike of support tickets in the first fortnight.

Questions about replacing KnowBe4

6 answers
Which KnowBe4 alternatives publish a price?

Hook Security states $499 a year for up to 10 seats and $1,199 for 11 to 60. Wizer publishes $25 per user per year on its Boost plan, and Keepnet Labs prints a monthly per-user table in euros.

SoSafe states a starting price of €625 a month for 50 seats. The others on this page quote only after contact.

Is there a free KnowBe4 alternative?

Wizer has a free plan with basic training videos, limited reporting and no single sign-on, while phishing simulation and a fuller library sit on the paid Boost plan. usecure offers a free trial on its site. Neither is a free substitute for a full programme.

Does KnowBe4 require a three-year contract?

Its published price table is headed as a three-year term, in every currency shown. Hook Security sells annual plans for small teams, and SoSafe states its starting price as billed annually. Ask each vendor, including KnowBe4, for the cancellation terms in writing.

Which alternative suits a European company?

SoSafe (Germany), Hoxhunt (Finland) and Phished (Belgium) are headquartered in Europe, and usecure and Keepnet Labs are UK companies. The Wizer site does not state where the company is based. Check where each vendor hosts your data and who signs the contract.

What is the easiest alternative for a managed service provider?

Hook Security and usecure both market to MSPs, with multi-tenant consoles and partner programmes. Hook states SOC 2 Type 2, and usecure says it is used by more than 2,000 MSP partners. Compare resale margins and per-client billing in a demo.

Do these tools also cover voice and SMS phishing?

Hoxhunt lists email, SMS, phone calls and Teams. Keepnet Labs lists email, SMS, voice and QR codes, with some on higher tiers. Adaptive Security and Living Security both sell voice phishing, priced separately or as their own product.
