Reverse ETL copies modelled rows from a warehouse into the CRMs, ad platforms and support tools where teams act on them.
This guide ranks twelve products on first-ninety-day effort, the bill once volume grows, how syncs and definitions leave, and whether you can run one without a partner. Facts come from vendors' own pages, checked 30 October 2026.
Visibility on this page can be bought by vendors; the text of an entry cannot, and neither can its criticism. Outbound clicks earn us nothing. How that works.
In short
What reverse ETL tools software does
A reverse ETL tool reads tables or models from a data warehouse on a schedule and writes the changed records into business applications through their APIs.
Our order comes from five tests, taken in turn: effort to set up, what you really pay, what happens to your data on the way out, how locked in you are, and the intended customer. One rule overrides the order: smaller vendors take the first three places when the category offers them, and the best-known brands start at four. We explain on how we work why the tests are these five and why no product receives a score.

Teams after a single SDK feeding a very large catalogue of destinations
Consumer products with huge visitor counts where each tracked profile adds to the bill
We list the country the vendor operates from or contracts through. That is not the same as the hosting region, and any difference is spelled out in the entry.

Start with the 14-day trial, a point-and-click selector for tables and filters, and SQL where logic turns awkward. Syncs move only changed records, which spares API quotas on the destination.
Polytomic keeps no customer data by default, and optional sync history logs are deleted after 30 days. Enterprise adds on-prem deployment, SSO and a dedicated engineer. A Terraform option keeps sync definitions in code, outside the console.

Weld's reverse ETL is one piece of a product that also covers ingestion, transformation, orchestration and lineage, with prices published online.
For a company of about a hundred people that is usually sufficient, and its Copenhagen base eases procurement in Europe. Once the model graph grows past that scale, dedicated transformation tooling becomes attractive, and Weld is then mostly a bill for extraction.

Expect an engineering task rather than a sign-up: deploy the server on AWS, Azure or GCP (the README mentions one-click deployment), connect a warehouse, and define models through SQL, dbt or a data catalog.
The GitHub repository was last pushed on 30 October 2026, which shows an active project. Leaving is simple because code, sync definitions and data all stay in your own infrastructure, and nothing is billed per row.

Hightouch turns a customer table already sitting in Snowflake or BigQuery into an audience for an advertising or messaging tool, while definitions stay in version control for analysts to review.
Marketers get a builder working on those models, and the free tier of two active syncs makes a pilot free of charge. One condition is absolute: with no modelled data there is nothing to sync, and the tool cannot stand in for modelling work.

Dataddo charges per flow, where most rivals here bill on volume that rises as the business grows, so a reverse ETL budget stays fixed. Insert, update and upsert modes run on daily or hourly schedules, so near-real-time pushes are not the pitch.

Fivetran sells connectors that survive source API changes, with schema drift arriving as new columns instead of failed loads, so your team does no upkeep. That earns it a place on shortlists, and Activations extend the idea to reverse ETL.
The risk is the meter: any row touched in a month counts as active, so a constantly updated table costs as much as one receiving inserts, and a real load is the only way to forecast.

Segment set the conventions others later copied, so its integration catalogue remains among the largest and engineers already know the API. For reverse ETL, records are metered separately: each record processed to a destination counts, so 50K records sent to two tools is 100K.
The main problem is the tracked-user model, which makes a free consumer app pay for anonymous visitors who never convert. Leaving is slow because years of downstream tools are wired through it.

Where it costs you

United StatesTrial first; priced on monthly tracked users; Reverse ETL usage metered in records
A reverse ETL tool reads tables or models from a data warehouse on a schedule and writes the changed records into business applications through their APIs. The differences that matter are rarely in the feature list, so this is the order we would work through them.
01
Work out how much a sales call is worth to you
Prices are public at 9 products (Polytomic, Weld, Multiwoven, Hightouch, Dataddo, Skyvia, RudderStack, Rivery, Fivetran) and on request at the remaining 3, so budget time for quotes if your favourite is in that second group.
02
Look at where the vendor sits
Look at the contracting entity: these 12 vendors sit in 6 countries, split by region as North America 7, Europe 2, Asia-Pacific 1, Middle East 1, Elsewhere 1. The servers can be anywhere; the legal obligations follow the company.
03
Check the open source options
1 of these are open source: Multiwoven. Hosting one yourself trades a subscription for maintenance.
Billing units decide the real price
Reverse ETL vendors meter different things, so headline prices cannot be compared directly. Weld and Fivetran count monthly active rows, RudderStack counts events and caps connections, Dataddo counts flows, and Rivery sells credits at 0.9 dollars each. Twilio Segment counts records per destination, so one audience sent to three tools is billed three times.
Omnata charges a flat fee per endpoint connection and sync direction, and Multiwoven charges nothing for volume because you run it yourself. Convert each model into a monthly figure for your own row counts, destinations and sync frequency before comparing, and ask whether unchanged rows are counted. A cheap entry price with a low connection cap can cost more than a pricier plan without one.
List your destinations and the rows that change in each one per month.
Ask how each vendor counts a record sent to two destinations.
Price the plan that includes the sync frequency you need.
Frequency, write modes and what a sync does
A sync is more than a schedule. Dataddo describes insert, update and upsert write modes, with schedules of daily or hourly. Weld lists idempotent upserts and row-level diffing, and moves from daily on Basic to hourly on Premium and every 15 minutes on Business. Skyvia reaches once a minute only on Professional and calls itself batch integration.
Hightouch's free tier stops at two active syncs, while RudderStack's Free plan allows ten reverse ETL connections. Check whether a sync can delete or detach records, how it handles a destination rate limit, and whether a failed run replays only the missing rows. Speed that your CRM cannot absorb is wasted, because its API limits become the real ceiling.
Confirm the minimum interval on the plan you would buy.
Check which write modes your destination object supports.
Ask how failed rows are retried and reported.
Where the data and the compute live
Reverse ETL touches your customer tables, so placement matters in security review. Omnata runs inside your Snowflake account and says it never handles your data or credentials. Multiwoven is self-hosted, Polytomic offers self-hosted deployment to your private cloud on Enterprise, and Hightouch lists a mode that runs on your own warehouse. DinMo states that it neither duplicates nor processes customer data outside the warehouse.
Weld hosts in Frankfurt, Germany. Hosted vendors still pass records through their own infrastructure unless you pick one of those modes. Hosted vendors are not wrong by default, but you should know what leaves your account. Ask for the sub-processor list, the audit report and the retention period for sync logs, since Polytomic deletes optional history logs after 30 days.
Ask which components run outside your own account.
Request the SOC 2 report or sub-processor list in writing.
Check how long sync history and row samples are retained.
Warehouse and destination fit
Source support differs more than marketing pages suggest. Twilio Segment reads from Azure, BigQuery, Databricks, Db2, PostgreSQL, Redshift and Snowflake. RudderStack adds MySQL, Trino and S3, Multiwoven names Redshift, Snowflake and BigQuery, and Rivery's workflow page names Snowflake and Databricks. Omnata serves Snowflake only.
On the destination side Fivetran lists 200+ activation destinations and Hightouch 300+ integrations, but a long catalogue says little about the one object you need, such as a custom CRM field or an ad audience. Marketers who build segments in the tool favour DinMo or Fivetran's Audience Hub, while engineers who own SQL models favour code-first products. Test the exact source and destination pair on a trial.
Run your real source and destination object through a trial.
Check that custom fields and objects are writable.
Decide whether marketers or engineers will own the syncs.
What goes wrong most often when buying reverse ETL tools software
Buying on the free tier headline without checking the cap: Hightouch's free tier stops at two active syncs, RudderStack's Free plan at ten connections.
Assuming a product still exists under the name you remember: getcensus.com now serves Fivetran pages, and Hevo's docs say Activate is open only to existing users.
Comparing a per-row price with a per-flow or per-credit price without converting both to a monthly figure from your own volumes.
Choosing a marketer-facing audience builder for table-to-API syncs, or a code-first engine for a team that has no engineer to run it.

What is the best reverse ETL tools in 2026?
Polytomic leads our ranking of 12. Polytomic puts reverse ETL, inbound ETL and CDC streaming in one product, which suits a data team that would otherwise buy a tool for each direction.
The pricing page states a starting point of 500 dollars a month, then routes Standard and Enterprise through a sales call. No row or sync allowance is printed, so forecasting the bill needs that conversation.
Which reverse ETL tools publish their pricing?
9 of the 12, with the pricing model each one publishes:
Polytomic: Published starting price per month; Standard and Enterprise by call; 14-day trial.
Weld: Published plans billed by monthly active rows; 14-day trial; Enterprise by request.
Multiwoven: Open source under AGPL-3.0, free to self-host; no limits on volume or syncs.
Hightouch: Free tier with up to two active syncs; usage-based pricing above it.
Dataddo: Published plans priced by number of flows; start free without a card; Enterprise custom.
Skyvia: Free plan with 10k records a month; paid plans published per month; Enterprise on a custom quote.
RudderStack: Free plan with 250K events a month; Growth published per month; Enterprise custom.
Rivery: Pay-as-you-go credits at a published rate; Base and Professional start free; higher editions through sales.
Fivetran: Activations priced by monthly active rows; 14-day trial per activation; free plan allowance.
3 vendors do not print a price.
Is there a free reverse ETL tool?
Hightouch, Dataddo, Skyvia, RudderStack, Fivetran offer a free tier or a free self-hosted edition.
Where are these reverse ETL tool vendors established?
In 6 countries across 5 regions: North America 7, Europe 2, Asia-Pacific 1, Middle East 1, Elsewhere 1.
Polytomic: United States.
Weld: Denmark.
Multiwoven: United States.
DinMo: France.
Hightouch: United States.
Omnata: Australia.
Dataddo: United States.
Skyvia: Not stated by the vendor.
RudderStack: United States.
Rivery: Israel.
Fivetran: United States.
Twilio Segment: United States.
Which reverse ETL tools are open source?
Multiwoven.
Which reverse ETL tools can you host yourself?
Polytomic, Multiwoven. The remaining 10 run only on the vendor's servers.
What should you use instead of Polytomic?
The next in line are Weld, aimed at small analytics groups setting up a first warehouse with no data engineers, and Multiwoven, aimed at Engineering-led teams that prefer to run their own sync infrastructure on a cloud.
Who should not buy Polytomic?
Marketers who want to build audiences without involving a data engineer. The pricing page prints no sync, row or connection allowance for Standard, so cost can only be estimated after a call.
