Bot management software separates people from scripts, scrapers and automated fraud on websites, apps and APIs, and then blocks, challenges or lets each request through.
Almost no vendor here publishes prices, so the ranking below weighs integration effort, how the contract is built, what the trial proves and whether you can leave without moving your CDN.
Vendors can fund visibility on this page. They cannot fund a better entry, since criticism stays in, and we are not paid when readers click through. How that works.
In short
What bot management software does
Bot management software scores each web, app or API request as human, good bot or malicious automation, using device, behaviour and network signals, then blocks, challenges or allows it.
Setup effort, true cost, data portability, exit options and buyer fit are the five tests, applied in that order to every bot management tool here. A separate rule reserves the first three places for challengers and moves the household names to place 4 and below. We explain on how we work why the tests are these five and why no product receives a score.

Teams wanting a visible price or a stand-alone bot filter
The country column shows the vendor's headquarters or contracting entity. Data hosting is a separate matter, and an entry flags it when the two diverge.
Manchester bot filter that runs server-side through your CDN
Ranked #1 of 11 in Best Bot Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestEurope
Netacea Limited, company number 11566936, is registered in England and Wales and gives a Manchester address. Its integration page walks through Akamai EdgeWorkers, a Cloudflare Worker, Lambda@Edge on CloudFront, Fastly VCL and an F5 iRule, each streaming request data and asking Netacea whether to allow or mitigate.
The page calls the approach agentless and says it fails open if the service is unreachable. Use cases listed include scalper bots and loyalty point fraud.
What stands out

Proof of concept
Where it costs you
The pages we read give no price, so the cost of the proof of concept and of the contract stays unknown.
Mitigation needs an edge module on your own CDN or a direct data feed, so a site without either has no easy start.
Right for
Retailers and media sites that already sit behind a major CDN
Wrong for
Teams wanting a self-serve plan with a price list

Australian bot defence built on hidden challenges instead of rule tuning
Ranked #2 of 11 in Best Bot Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestAsia-Pacific
The privacy policy names Kasada Pty Ltd, with Kasada Australia Pty Limited, Kasada UK Limited and Kasada Inc. as affiliates.
The bot defence page describes invisible signal collection, client validation and a proof-of-execution step that runs obfuscated code in a virtual machine, then session scoring in under 2 ms. It says the platform needs no CAPTCHA. The page is silent on setup, so ask whether your CDN or load balancer is supported.
What stands out
Hidden client challenges
Proof of execution
Account intelligence
Where it costs you
Neither integration methods nor prices appear on the pages we read, so scope is only learned in a call.
The pitch rests on removing rule work, which also means little visible control for teams used to writing their own rules.
Right for
Ticketing, retail and travel sites that want little rule maintenance
Wrong for
Teams that want to write and audit their own detection rules

Frankfurt edge service where bot control is one module of WAAP
Ranked #4 of 11 in Best Bot Management Software in 2026.
Pricing on requestEurope
Bot Management here is one module in Link11's web application security range, next to web DDoS protection, a firewall and API security. The company grew out of volumetric DDoS defence and is a German contracting party running the service from Europe, with GDPR and ISO 27001 mentioned.
How the module spots bots is not described, so a trial must answer that. Reblaze now redirects to this domain. Outside Europe there are fewer locations than American edge networks.

Bot management software scores each web, app or API request as human, good bot or malicious automation, using device, behaviour and network signals, then blocks, challenges or allows it. Differences that change the outcome seldom sit in the features. Here is the sequence we would follow.
01
Start with pricing transparency
None of these bot management tools publishes a price. Each one quotes per organisation, so budget for at least one sales call per shortlisted vendor.
02
Decide how much the jurisdiction matters
4 regions are represented (North America 6, Europe 2, Elsewhere 2, Asia-Pacific 1). A vendor outside your own legal area is not a problem as such, but it changes who can compel it to hand over data.
Choosing bot management software by where detection runs
Start with the place where the decision is made, because it fixes the integration job. Netacea reads request data your CDN streams to it and answers allow or mitigate, Kasada and Akamai Bot Manager lean on client-side signals, and Cloudflare Bot Management and Fastly Bot Management work inside their own networks. DataDome documents modules for Nginx, Kong, CloudFront and mobile SDKs.
Ask each vendor which components touch your origin, your CDN, your mobile apps and your front end, and what happens to traffic when the vendor's service is unreachable: Netacea says its design fails open. A tool that fits your CDN saves weeks of effort, while one that needs a new CDN turns into a migration project with its own risks.
List your CDN, load balancer and mobile apps before the first demo
Ask what happens to traffic when the detection service is down
Check whether a script must be added to every page
What price information you can expect
Almost no vendor in this guide shows a bot price. Netacea, Kasada, HUMAN Security, Imperva Advanced Bot Protection and Akamai Bot Manager point to demos, forms or trials, and Link11 describes a flat-rate model without a bot price, and Akamai offers only a demo. Cloudflare's plans page lists Bot Management without amounts, and Fastly links to a general pricing page.
Ask for the billing unit in writing, whether requests, sites or bandwidth, and for the price of the second year of the contract, since entry discounts end. Compare quotes on the same traffic sample from your own logs, because a vendor billing on requests behaves very differently from one billing per application during a scraping peak.
Get the billing unit in writing
Ask for the year-two price
Quote every vendor on the same traffic sample
Running a proof of concept that settles the claim
Detection claims on vendor pages are impossible to compare, so run the vendors against each other. Netacea offers a proof of concept, Arkose Labs a guided 7-day proof of value, Imperva a trial form and Link11 a test page. Run each tool in monitoring mode first, then switch on blocking for one path such as login or checkout.
Count false positives by checking blocked sessions against orders and sign-ins in your own system, not the dashboard's. Kasada says it needs no rule work, so measure how many tickets your team still receives afterwards. A seven-day test misses weekly attack cycles, a seasonal sale and the quiet weeks in between.
Start in monitoring mode, then block one path
Check blocked sessions against real orders and sign-ins
Run the test across a full business cycle
Bots, AI agents and the vendor's wider platform
Several vendors now sell agent governance as well as bot blocking. HUMAN Security lists AgenticTrust, Kasada sells AI Agent Trust, and DataDome documents Agentic Trust, so decide whether you want known AI agents allowed with limits or blocked outright.
The extra modules also change the contract: HUMAN covers advertising and client-side threats, Cequence sits in an application and API suite, and Arkose Bot Manager is part of the Titan platform. Ask which modules the quote includes, which can be dropped, and what each costs on its own. A narrow contract is easier to leave, while a platform contract tends to bring a longer notice period and a larger bill.
Decide how known AI agents should be treated
Ask which modules can be dropped from the quote
Check notice periods and renewal terms
What goes wrong most often when buying bot management software
Comparing vendors on the percentage of bots each dashboard reports instead of the same sample of sessions checked against your own records.
Buying a bot tool tied to one CDN, such as Fastly Bot Management or Cloudflare Bot Management, without confirming that you will stay on that CDN.
Blocking an entire site on day one, which turns the first false positive into a lost order.
Treating a CAPTCHA as the whole defence when vendors such as Kasada and Netacea describe attackers solving or bypassing them.

Integration pages describe modules for Akamai, Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly and F5, plus direct API, S3 or Kafka feeds. Without one of those, the cost of onboarding rises, and no price is shown.
Which bot management tools publish their pricing?
0 out of 11 state a price model on their own site:
None of them publish a price.
The remaining 11 sell by quote.
Is there a free bot management tool?
