Best Talent Management Software in 2026

Talent management software covers the processes that follow hiring: skills records, reviews, calibration, succession, internal mobility, development and pay decisions.

Vendors range from review specialists to full HCM suites. This guide ranks twelve products on first-90-day effort, real price once modules are added, exit, independence and fit, with challengers ahead of the large suites.

Some vendors pay for visibility. That never touches an entry, the critical parts included, and following a link to a vendor brings us no income. How that works.

In short

What talent management software does

Talent management software keeps employee skills and performance records, runs reviews and calibration, plans succession and internal moves, links development to learning, and feeds pay decisions from one profile.

How we ranked these

5 criteria, in order

We ranked the 12 talent management tools on setup effort first, then total cost, then data export, then exit, then fit for the buyer. One rule overrides the order: smaller vendors take the first three places when the category offers them, and the best-known brands start at four. The reasoning behind the five tests, and behind having no score out of ten, is set out on the how we work page.

#1 Abacus Umantis

St. Gallen HR suite with talent, development and pay-round modules

Ranked #1 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestEurope

Umantis passes the independence test with a Swiss vendor you can buy from directly, and its Smart edition follows five fixed steps from questionnaire to go-live, so the first 90 days are mostly data delivery and testing.

Flex adds a consulting phase with options, costs and process effects shown before configuration. Data is hosted in Frankfurt and Zurich, and its AI runs in Switzerland. Nothing we read describes a data export for leaving, so request one in writing.

What stands out
  • DACH hosting
  • Smart and Flex editions
  • Pay rounds
Where it costs you
  • Development plans and the applicant module are optional extras in the Smart edition
  • The two editions target 100 to 500 and 300 or more staff, so very small teams are outside the stated range
Right for

DACH employers with 100 to 500 staff wanting a quick live start

Wrong for

Global groups wanting a skills ontology and AI agents

#2 Cegid HR Talent Management

Lyon-based skills repository with performance, salary and talent reviews

Ranked #2 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestEurope

Cegid frames talent management around a skills repository that fills itself from HR processes, so reviews, mobility and training read the same competency data. The review cycle covers performance, salary with grids and ratios, and a talent review that maps people to roles.

A reference customer reports saving ten days on a salary review for 2,000 staff in 40 countries. The vendor lists ISO 27001 for hosting; ask what the contract says about export at exit.

What stands out
  • Skills repository
  • Talent review
  • Salary review
Where it costs you
  • Cegid announced on 9 September 2026 that it intends to merge with Silae, which may change product priorities
  • The Plug & Play Edition lists recruitment, training and performance only, with no succession in its three modules

French and European mid-caps running performance, salary and talent reviews in one tool

#3 Beamery

London-founded workforce intelligence on skills, tasks and redeployment

Ranked #3 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestEurope

Beamery answers a different question from a review suite: which roles, tasks and skills exist, and where capacity can move. The Workforce Intelligence Suite adds scenario modelling and a task view, and Ray, an agentic advisor, answers questions over that data.

The vendor reports 90 percent relevance of AI-inferred skills at first implementation. Cloud hosting is Google Cloud with an RTO of 24 hours. Plan the integration with your HRIS before the contract.

What stands out
  • Skills intelligence
  • Task analysis
  • Redeployment
Where it costs you
  • The pages list no performance review, learning or pay module, so it needs a core HR system beside it
  • Its own partner list names Workday and SAP SuccessFactors, which suggests an HRIS feed is a precondition
Right for

Large employers planning reskilling and redeployment on top of an existing HRIS

Wrong for

Teams wanting review cycles, pay rounds or learning in one tool

United KingdomQuoted per organisation; demo request

#4 Lattice

Per-seat review, calibration and succession tools with a visible price list

Ranked #4 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Published pricingNorth America

Lattice, based in San Francisco, includes Succession Planning, Talent Reviews, Calibration and Promotions in its Performance product, which makes it a fit for talent decisions handled by HR.

Compensation and Grow (competencies, development plans, career tracks) are separate add-ons charged per seat per month. Courses and hiring need other vendors, since the pricing page lists neither. Enterprise pricing is quoted separately, and annual contracts carry the $4,000 minimum.

What stands out
  • Succession planning
  • Calibration
  • Per-seat add-ons
Where it costs you
  • Succession, talent review and promotion tools sit in Performance, but pay and career tracks cost extra
  • A $4,000 annual minimum applies
Right for

HR teams wanting succession planning, talent reviews and calibration inside a performance product

Wrong for

Organisations needing learning courses or hiring in the same system

#5 Phenom

Pennsylvania hiring platform adding career pathing and an internal marketplace

Ranked #5 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Phenom treats career pathing as an edit job rather than a build job: AI reads your roles and skills against its ontology and proposes paths, and your team publishes function by function.

Talent Marketplace then ranks internal roles, gigs, mentors and courses by skill fit, and internal applicants arrive in the recruiter pipeline flagged as employees. Pricing is not shown, and learning content comes from a connected learning system, so check that link first.

What stands out
  • Career pathing
  • Talent marketplace
  • Skills profile
Where it costs you
  • The product menu lists no performance review, calibration or pay module
  • Career paths are drafted by AI and nothing goes live until your team has reviewed and published them
Right for

Wrong for

Buyers needing review cycles, calibration or pay planning

#6 Eightfold AI

Santa Clara talent intelligence with career hub, mobility and agents

Ranked #6 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Eightfold bundles Career Hub, skills development and internal mobility into one view of each employee, driven by a Digital Twin built from live work signals.

Workforce Readiness adds two quarterly figures for boards: AI Potential and AI Adoption, with a gap by role and location. The vendor lists SOC 2, ISO and FedRAMP and publishes bias audit results for two models. Expect a demo-led purchase with no list price.

What stands out
  • Digital Twin
  • Career Hub
  • Workforce Readiness
Where it costs you
  • The Talent Management page names no performance review, calibration or compensation cycle
  • The Digital Twin acts on signals from email and work apps, so a privacy or works-council review is likely before rollout
Right for

Large employers building internal mobility and skills visibility on AI matching

Wrong for

Teams that need review cycles or a published price

#7 Learnsoft

LMS with a talent module for 360 evaluations, goals and succession

Ranked #7 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestElsewhere

Learnsoft starts from learning records and bolts talent processes onto them: 360 evaluations with peer and manager input, skills gap tests, goal tracking against business targets, development plans and succession pools.

That order suits employers whose main duty is proving training was done. The platform integrates with HRIS systems and content providers, and imports SCORM and AICC courses. Pricing needs a demo, and the site does not state where the company is based.

What stands out
  • 360 evaluation
  • Skills gap tests
  • Succession planning
Where it costs you
  • The talent module has one short product page and no description of calibration or pay planning
  • The site gives no company address or country
Right for

Regulated employers in healthcare or government that already centre on compliance training

Wrong for

Companies wanting skills ontology, mobility marketplace or AI agents

#8 Dayforce

HCM platform talent suite with a skills engine and agentic features

Ranked #8 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Dayforce positions the talent suite as one record from hire to retire, with a skills engine feeding recruiting, Career Explorer and learning. Talent Management is described as engagement, performance, pay and succession in one place.

The company says the agents shown at Discover are rolled out over 2026 and 2027, so the demo will mix shipped and planned items. Ask for a dated list of what is live for your region.

What stands out
  • Skills engine
  • Career Explorer
  • Succession
Where it costs you
  • The agentic talent features in the 27 October 2026 release are dated mostly to 2027
  • The Ribbon AI Inc. purchase had not closed when the release was written
Right for

Employers with hourly and frontline staff that want talent tools on their payroll platform

Wrong for

Buyers who want a standalone talent product with a list price

#9 Cornerstone OnDemand

Learning-first packages that add performance, marketplace and skills layers

Ranked #9 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Cornerstone sells talent management by outcome. Learn+ covers learning, Elevate+ adds performance management and a talent marketplace, Intelligence+ adds People Graph and Skills Architect, and HCM+ is the skills-centred suite with hiring, succession and compensation.

A talent buyer should note that the higher packages build on the learning one. All of them are sold through sales, and no price is shown anywhere.

What stands out
  • Elevate+ package
  • Skills Architect
  • People Graph
Where it costs you
  • Elevate+ includes Learn+, so performance and the marketplace are bought on top of the learning package
  • Every package goes through sales with no price shown
Right for

Talent leaders who want skills data, a talent marketplace and succession or hiring in one suite

Wrong for

Buyers wanting a single list price per package

United StatesQuoted per organisation; four named packages

#10 SAP SuccessFactors

Broad talent modules from recruiting to succession with AI assistants

Ranked #10 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestEurope

SAP SuccessFactors covers the talent cycle end to end: recruiting (SmartRecruiters is named for hiring), onboarding, performance, learning, compensation and succession, plus assistants for development plans and performance preparation.

Evaluating it is awkward because the free 30-day basic trial shows screens with sample data and not your own processes. Every module has to be scoped on its own, and the price is quoted per organisation.

What stands out
  • SmartRecruiters
  • Joule assistants
  • Compensation modelling
Where it costs you
  • Each module is scoped separately, which complicates the overall picture
  • The 30-day trial uses a shared tenant with sample data, English only, no configuration rights and no Joule AI
Right for

HR leaders wanting recruiting, onboarding, performance, learning, pay and succession from one vendor

Wrong for

Buyers who need to test their own processes in a trial

GermanyQuoted per organisation; 30-day basic trial with sample data

#11 Workday

Talent acquisition and development on Workday HCM with Skills Cloud

Ranked #11 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Workday, Inc. (Pleasanton, California) splits talent management into Talent Acquisition and Talent Development: onboarding, Talent Optimization for careers and succession, Learning, Employee Voice, Talent Insights and AI-based mobility.

Skills Cloud supplies the skills ontology. The vendor says talent and skills intelligence are built on top of core HCM, so a company on another HR system has an integration to plan. Pricing sits behind a demo.

What stands out
  • Skills Cloud
  • Talent Optimization
  • Learning
Where it costs you
  • Even the packaged deployments take ten to twenty-plus weeks
  • Cost of change after go-live is high
Right for

A large enterprise consolidating HR and finance

#12 Oracle Talent Management

Fusion Cloud HCM modules for skills, performance, pay and succession

Ranked #12 of 12 in Best Talent Management Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Among Oracle's AI helpers for managers are a calibration and review workspace, a performance and goals assistant, and a team sync agent. Succession Planning identifies successors, evaluates readiness and runs scenario simulation, and compensation can model scenarios.

Learning content connects to Skillsoft, LinkedIn Learning and Coursera. Everything shares one data model, which helps reporting and raises the exit cost. Ask for the export terms in the order form.

What stands out
  • Dynamic Skills
  • Succession Planning
  • Opportunity Marketplace
Where it costs you
  • The modules assume the Fusion Cloud HCM data and security model
  • No price or trial is shown on the talent management page
Right for

Enterprises already on Fusion Cloud HCM wanting succession and compensation in the same model

Wrong for

Small teams or buyers wanting a standalone talent product

How to choose talent management software

Talent management software keeps employee skills and performance records, runs reviews and calibration, plans succession and internal moves, links development to learning, and feeds pay decisions from one profile. What separates these products is rarely a feature. Work through the steps below.

  1. 01

Decide whether you need a published price

The split is 1 published against 11 quoted. If you want to compare numbers first, start with Lattice.

  2. 02

Look at where the vendor sits

Headquarters range over 6 countries and 3 regions: North America 7, Europe 4, Elsewhere 1. Legal exposure follows the vendor, not only the data centre, so read the contracting entity before you sign.

Suite buyers versus specialists: Abacus Umantis, Beamery and Lattice cover different slices

Talent management software is sold in three shapes. Suites such as SAP SuccessFactors, Workday and Oracle Talent Management bundle recruiting, learning, performance, pay and succession on one data model. Specialists cover a slice: Lattice does reviews, calibration and succession at a per-seat price, Phenom does career paths and an internal marketplace, and Beamery models skills and tasks for redeployment.

Learning-first vendors such as Cornerstone and Learnsoft add talent modules to a training core. Decide which shape matches your problem before comparing prices. A company that only needs calibrated reviews gains little from a skills ontology, and a company reskilling thousands of roles gains little from a review form. Mixing shapes is common, for example a specialist for skills next to an existing HRIS.

  • Name the one process that hurts most today.
  • Ask each vendor which modules cover it, by product name.
  • Check whether the slice you want needs a core HR system you do not own.

Where the skills data comes from in Cegid, Phenom, Eightfold AI and Workday

Almost every vendor now builds on skills, and the source differs. Cegid keeps a skills repository fed by HR processes such as reviews. Phenom reads your roles and skills against its own ontology and drafts career paths for you to edit. Eightfold AI's Digital Twin uses signals from email, work apps and tasks, while Workday offers Skills Cloud and Oracle offers Dynamic Skills.

The more automatic the inference, the faster the first view, and the more you need to know what is read and who can see it. Skills a manager typed in are slow to build but easy to explain to a works council. Ask each vendor to show a real profile built from your own sample data, not a demo tenant, and check how a disputed skill gets removed.

  • Ask where each skill record comes from and how often it refreshes.
  • Find out whether employees can see and correct their own profile.
  • Have privacy review the data sources before a pilot starts.

Roadmap risk: Dayforce, Cegid and Cornerstone announcements

Several vendors on this list have moved fast in the past months, and a demo can blur what is live. Dayforce announced agentic recruiting, learning and performance on 27 October 2026 and dates most of it to 2027, with the Ribbon AI purchase pending. Cegid announced on 9 September 2026 an intention to merge with Silae.

Cornerstone reorganised its offer into the Learn+, Elevate+, Intelligence+ and HCM+ packages. None of this is a reason to avoid them, but a contract should name the modules you receive on the signing date, and say what happens to the price if a package is renamed or merged. Treat any slide that says planned, coming or throughout 2027 as a wish until a release note proves it.

  • Request a list of features live in production for your region today.
  • Put module names, not package nicknames, into the order form.
  • Ask what happens to your terms after a merger or product rename.

Price signals: only Lattice publishes, SAP offers a trial, the rest quote

Lattice is the one vendor here with a price list on its site, per seat per month, with compensation and Grow as add-ons. SAP SuccessFactors offers a 30-day basic trial, but on sample data in a shared tenant, so it tests screens rather than your configuration. Abacus Umantis, Cegid HR Talent Management, Beamery, Phenom, Eightfold AI, Learnsoft, Dayforce, Cornerstone, Workday and Oracle show no price on the pages we read.

For those, compare what the quote includes: modules, connectors, content, sandbox, support tier, and the second and third year. A suite quote that looks high may include modules a specialist sells separately, while a cheap per-seat price can climb once add-ons and a larger headcount arrive.

  • Ask for a three-year total, not only year one.
  • List connectors, content and sandboxes the quote leaves out.
  • Compare the quote per module against what you will really switch on.

What goes wrong most often when buying talent management software

  • Buying a suite for one module, then using only the review form while paying for succession, learning and compensation licences.
  • Treating an AI skills profile as a fact: ask what was inferred, from which source, and who may correct it.
  • Skipping the HRIS question: Beamery and Workday talent products assume core HR data is already available to them.
  • Judging a vendor on the demo alone when its release notes date key features to a later year.
