Best E-invoicing Software in 2026

E-invoicing software, also called electronic invoicing software, sends and receives structured invoices over networks such as Peppol and national tax platforms.

This guide ranks eleven products from European and other vendors on setup effort, the real price at your volume, how archives and identifiers leave, and whether you can buy and run it without an integrator.

Vendor money can buy visibility on this page and nothing else. No entry is softened, criticism is kept, and a click on a vendor link brings us no revenue. How that works.

In short

What e-invoicing software does

E-invoicing software creates, validates, delivers and archives invoices as structured data, so a buyer's system can read them and tax authorities can receive reports where a mandate applies.

How we ranked these

5 criteria, in order

Ranking criteria for this e-invoicing tool list, applied top to bottom: effort to get started, cost in practice, data return, ability to leave, buyer fit. One rule sits on top of those tests: places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Reasons for the choice of tests, and for skipping a score out of ten, can be read on the how we work page.

Spanish e-invoicing portal and API that starts with a free plan

Storecove shows a Peppol certified access point badge and presents one API for e-invoicing and e-reporting across 31 countries. A sandbox is offered for 30 days at no charge.

How to choose e-invoicing software

E-invoicing software creates, validates, delivers and archives invoices as structured data, so a buyer's system can read them and tax authorities can receive reports where a mandate applies. The differences that matter are rarely in the feature list, so this is the order we would work through them.

  1. 01

Work out how much a sales call is worth to you

7 vendors on this page sell by quote, while 4 publish a pricing model you can read today: B2Brouter, Qvalia, Invopop, ONESOURCE Pagero (Thomson Reuters).

  2. 02

Decide how much the jurisdiction matters

The vendors on this page are based in 8 countries (Europe 10, Elsewhere 1). The country of the contracting company sets which authorities can ask it for your data, whatever the hosting region.

How e-invoicing software differs from invoicing software

Invoicing software creates a document for your customer; e-invoicing software makes sure a structured copy reaches the buyer's system through a network that both sides accept. Storecove, Qvalia and Edicom present themselves as access points, meaning the delivery layer, while Esker and Basware add capture, validation and archiving for payables. Invopop works from the other side, taking data from your billing system and running it through workflows.

Decide first which job you are buying: sending, receiving, reporting to a tax authority, or all three, because few products are strong at every one and the answer shapes the shortlist. Then check whether the vendor names the networks you need, such as Peppol, Chorus Pro, SDI or KSeF, instead of stating a country total, since a headline figure says little about the one country your customers sit in.

  • List the networks and national platforms your customers require
  • Ask whether the vendor is itself the access point or resells one
  • Separate sending, receiving and tax reporting in your requirements

Pricing: published tiers against quoted contracts

Only some vendors show prices. B2Brouter lists a free plan and two annual plans, Qvalia lists monthly bundles by message volume, and Invopop lists credits and a monthly fee per country. SEEBURGER, Comarch e-Invoicing, Edicom, Esker and Basware show none, and Tradeshift's pricing page returned not found.

Volume is the main variable: Pagero's free offer ends after 36 documents a year, B2Brouter's after 24 transactions. Count what you really send and receive in a month, including credit notes and tax reports, then compare the plan ceiling. Ask quoted vendors for a written price at your volume and the cost of every additional country, and ask what happens to the price in a year when your document count has grown.

  • Count documents per month including credit notes
  • Check the ceiling of the plan you would start on
  • Get the per-country fee in writing

Mandates and the effort of switching

Mandates reshape the deadline more than the product. Tradeshift states it is registered as a French PDP, B2Brouter says it is a Plateforme Agréée, and Invopop lists Veri*Factu, KSeF, SDI and ZATCA among its connections. A vendor that is registered with the authority carries the reporting for you; a plain access point may not.

Implementation time differs widely: Comarch quotes about six to eleven weeks for mid-sized firms, while Qvalia and B2Brouter sign up online, so the effort you budget differs by an order of magnitude. Run a test with one customer before the mandate date, because format errors surface only on real documents, and ask who fixes a rejected invoice, you or the vendor.

  • Confirm registration status for each country with a mandate
  • Ask for the implementation timeline in writing
  • Test one live customer before the deadline

Leaving a provider and keeping control

Exit has two parts: your archive and your network identity. Qvalia bills monthly and can be cancelled at any time, B2Brouter keeps invoices for the legal period on paid plans, and Invopop publishes its GOBL format under Apache-2.0. For the others, ask how archived invoices are exported and whether your Peppol identifier can move to another access point.

A vendor owned by a larger group, such as ONESOURCE Pagero under Thomson Reuters, may change contract terms after a sale. Keep a copy of the structured XML for every document, since a PDF alone does not satisfy most tax authorities, and test a full export before you sign a multi-year contract.

  • Ask for a bulk export of archived structured invoices
  • Check whether your network identifier can move
  • Read change-of-control terms in the contract

What goes wrong most often when buying e-invoicing software

  • Treating a PDF sent by email as e-invoicing in a country where the buyer needs structured data.
  • Comparing monthly prices without counting credit notes, received invoices and tax reports against the plan ceiling.
  • Assuming one vendor's country list covers every mandate, when coverage differs by network and by type of document.
  • Waiting for the mandate month to test a live invoice with a real customer.

Frequently asked questions

7 answers
What is the best e-invoicing software in 2026?

Our ranking of 11 puts B2Brouter first. B2Brouter Global S.L. runs a web portal, ERP connectors and a white-label API on one platform, and the Basic plan costs nothing but counts sent invoices, received invoices and tax reports against 24 transactions a year.

Professional and Business remove that cap, while multi-document import and legal archiving sit in Business. Its tiers suit small senders, so a group wanting one global contract may outgrow it.

Which e-invoicing tools publish their pricing?

Published pricing exists for 4 products on this page:

  • B2Brouter: Free plan for 24 transactions a year; paid web plans billed annually, prices published.
  • Qvalia: Published monthly plans by message volume; Enterprise quoted.
  • Invopop: Free Dev plan; Pro and usage credits published; Enterprise quoted.
  • ONESOURCE Pagero (Thomson Reuters): Free tier of up to 36 documents a year; paid use quoted.

Everything else on the list is priced on request.

Is there a free e-invoicing tool?

B2Brouter, Invopop, ONESOURCE Pagero (Thomson Reuters) can be used for free, either as a free plan or a self-hosted edition.

Where are these e-invoicing software vendors established?

Across 8 countries (Europe 10, Elsewhere 1):

  • B2Brouter: Spain.
  • Qvalia: Sweden.
  • Invopop: Spain.
  • Storecove: Netherlands.
  • SEEBURGER: Germany.
  • Comarch e-Invoicing: Poland.
  • Edicom: Spain.
  • ONESOURCE Pagero (Thomson Reuters): Sweden.
  • Esker: France.
  • Basware: Finland.
  • Tradeshift: Not stated by the vendor.
Which e-invoicing tools can you host yourself?

Comarch e-Invoicing. The remaining 10 run only on the vendor's servers.

What should you use instead of B2Brouter?

Second is Qvalia, which suits companies with steady invoice volume that want a Peppol connection and published monthly prices. Third is Invopop, which suits SaaS and marketplace engineering teams adding invoicing across several countries.

Who should not buy B2Brouter?

Groups wanting a single global enterprise contract and SLA. The free Basic plan stops at 24 transactions a year and 10 contacts, so any real invoice flow needs a paid plan..
