Perplexity Pro is listed at $17 a month billed annually, and Max at $167 a month billed annually. Gemini starts free with a Google account, then AI Plus at EUR 4.99 and AI Pro at EUR 21.99 a month on the Dutch page. Gemini has the cheaper first paid step.

Sources behind answers
Perplexity states that every answer carries inline citations, and Pro adds premium data sources such as PitchBook and Statista. The Gemini pages we read describe Deep Research on the free tier but make no equivalent promise about citing on every reply.

Bundled extras
Gemini AI Pro includes 5 TB of storage and Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids, so the fee covers more than chat. Perplexity bundles Computer, Comet and an API under its own name, but no storage. Which bundle matters depends on whether you already use Google Workspace tools.

Privacy position
Google says human reviewers read some Gemini data, and chats are kept as account activity unless you turn Keep Activity off. Perplexity's privacy notice lets users ask for access in a portable form and for deletion. Both are US companies by their own filings.
