Google Gemini alternatives: 11 AI chatbots and assistants tools compared
People look for a Gemini alternative when the assistant they pay for is tied to a Google account and a storage plan they did not choose it for, or when they want a different model family, a published team plan or a vendor outside the US. They move to a chat-first assistant from another lab, to a search-led answer engine, or to a suite assistant inside Microsoft 365.
Short answer: The first three alternatives to Google Gemini in our AI chatbots and assistants ranking are Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose Claude if you want a plain assistant subscription priced without storage and are content to pay by card. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best AI Chatbots and Assistants in 2026, and each says where it differs from Google Gemini.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say
about a product. How that works.
Pricing: Free tier with Google account; AI Plus, Pro and Ultra published
Established in: United States
Built for: People already on Google accounts who want assistant, storage and Gmail integration
Not for: Teams wanting an assistant separate from the Google account
01
Why buyers look past Google Gemini
01
The price is a storage bundle with an assistant attached
On Google's Dutch plan page, AI Plus is EUR 4.99 a month with 400 GB of storage, AI Pro is EUR 21.99 with 5 TB, and AI Ultra starts at EUR 99.99 with storage from 20 TB. Someone who wants only a chat assistant pays for terabytes they may not use, which makes a like-for-like comparison with chat-only plans hard.
02
The paid steps are defined against the free tier
Google describes AI Plus as 2x the usage of the no-cost version and AI Pro as 4x, and splits Ultra into 5x and 20x of Pro. None of these is a number of messages, so a buyer cannot tell in advance whether a plan covers a workday of use. Several rivals state limits in the same relative way, but the multiples here are measured against a free tier that Google can change.
03
Your chats live in a Google Account
Gemini works inside the Google Account that holds mail, files and photos. That is the point for people who want Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids, and the drawback for anyone who wants an assistant kept separate from their main identity or from a work tenant. Google says human reviewers may read some Gemini data, so confidential text needs a different tool or a different account type.

Claude
United States · Free, Pro and Max plans published; per-seat Team and Enterprise
A chat-first assistant with no storage bundle: Pro is US$17 a month on annual billing or US$20 monthly, and Max starts at US$100 for 5x or 20x Pro usage. Free is capped at five Projects. Individual plans pay by card only, with no invoicing, and there is no Gmail or Docs integration of Gemini's kind.
Switch from Google Gemini if you want a plain assistant subscription priced without storage and are content to pay by card.
Not stated by the vendor · Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business plans published; Enterprise by sales
Sold as a ladder of Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, so it reaches further into team use than Gemini's personal plans do. Business is billed per user annually with at least two users, and Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs and data residency controls. The many price points make choosing a tier slower, and the vendor's pages name no country of establishment.
Switch from Google Gemini if you want one vendor from a single seat up to an enterprise contract with admin features.
United States · Free, Pro and Max plans published; Enterprise priced separately
An answer engine that shows inline citations on each reply, where Gemini is a general assistant. The Free plan allows a very limited number of Pro Searches, Education Pro costs US$10 a month, and Enterprise Pro starts at US$40 per seat monthly or US$400 per seat annually. We could not read a Pro price on the help page. It chooses the model for you on Free.
Switch from Google Gemini if most of your questions are research questions and you want sources visible beside every answer.
France · Free, Pro and Team plans published; Enterprise by sales
A French vendor whose assistant is now called Vibe. Pro is US$14.99 a month, Team is US$24.99 per user and adds 30 GB per user, domain verification and data export, and Enterprise offers SAML SSO, audit logs and self-hosted or on-premises deployment. Limits are written as multiples of the free plan, and data export starts at Team, not Pro.
Switch from Google Gemini if you want a European vendor with a published team price and a route to self-hosting.
United States · Bundled in Microsoft 365 subscriptions, published; business add-on per user
Sold inside Microsoft 365, so the assistant arrives with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and 1 TB of storage in Personal at US$9.99 a month, with Family at US$12.99 and the AI limited to the subscription owner. You cannot buy it without the Office suite, and consumer terms do not cover work or school accounts.
Switch from Google Gemini if your documents and mail are already in Microsoft 365, not Google Workspace.
Not stated by the vendor · Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra tiers published; team seats
Priced as The X Subscription: Plus US$8, Premium US$30, Super US$100 and Ultra US$200 a month, with usage at 4x, 15x and 50x on the upper three. Usage is one weekly pool shared with Cursor, and team seats start at Premium. Existing SuperGrok and X Premium plans continue, but switching to the new plan is permanent.
Switch from Google Gemini if you already use X or Cursor and prefer one bill for the assistant, the social account and the coding tool.
Not stated by the vendor · Meta states core use stays free; paid Meta One tiers published
Built into Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp rather than sold as a standalone product. Meta states everyday use stays free, with paid Meta One bundles raising usage for image and video generation. We found no team plan, admin controls or export documentation, and prices vary by region.
Switch from Google Gemini if you want a free assistant inside the messaging apps you already open daily.
United States · Points-based message limits; subscription prices not seen on the vendor site
A platform from Quora, Inc. that puts bots built on other companies' models behind one account, so you compare models without separate subscriptions. Usage is metered in points that cannot be refunded or cashed out. Some subscriptions can be shared with family, friends or a team, but we saw no admin controls.
Switch from Google Gemini if you want to try several labs' models side by side and not commit to one.
China · Per-token API published; chat plans not shown on its site
Strongest on the API side: the pricing page lists deepseek-flash at US$0.15 input and US$0.60 output per million tokens off-peak, with peak rates double, and a 1M-token context. The terms are governed by PRC law and name no data location. We found no published chat plans, so this is a developer replacement more than a consumer one.
Switch from Google Gemini if you are replacing Gemini API calls on cost and can accept a vendor in mainland China.
China · Membership tiers and business edition; prices not readable without JavaScript
Moonshot AI's assistant, with membership tiers and a separate business edition that adds workspaces and seat management. Its home page now advertises the K3.1 Pro model for coding and agent work. The agreements are issued by Beijing Moonshot Technology Co., Ltd. and are in Chinese, and the prices need JavaScript so we could not read them.
Switch from Google Gemini if you work with long documents or agents and are comfortable with a Chinese vendor and Chinese-language terms.
United States · API per call published; chat pricing not found on its site
The company now leads with web search and research APIs. There is a keyless free allowance of 100 Web Search queries a day, then pay as you go at US$5 per 1,000 Web Search or Answer API calls, with no seats or minimums. We found no price for a chat product, so it replaces Gemini's search grounding, not its chat app.
Switch from Google Gemini if you need cited web answers inside your own application and want to pay per call.
Gemini remains the right choice when your mail, files and calendar are already in a Google Account and you want the assistant inside Gmail, Docs and Vids. If you also need the storage, AI Pro at EUR 21.99 with 5 TB can cost less than a chat subscription plus a separate cloud plan, and the no-cost tier is enough to test it. Leaving means giving up that integration and replacing it with copy and paste.

What moving off Google Gemini involves
01
Decide what the Google Account still holds
Cancelling an AI plan does not move your chats. Gemini conversations are stored as activity in the Google Account, which you can review or delete there. Export what you need first, and check whether the storage tier you drop to still fits your mail and photos before you downgrade.
02
Rebuild the workflows that ran inside Google apps
Anything you did with Gemini in Gmail, Docs or Vids has no direct equivalent in a chat-only tool. List those tasks before leaving. Microsoft Copilot covers the same ground inside Office, while Claude, ChatGPT and Mistral need you to move text between the assistant and the app.

Questions about replacing Google Gemini
6 answers
What is the closest alternative to Gemini?
Claude and ChatGPT are the closest in shape: general chat assistants with free tiers and paid individual plans. Claude Pro is US$17 a month on annual billing. ChatGPT offers six plan levels. Neither includes cloud storage in the way Google's AI plans do.
Which Gemini alternative has a free plan?
Claude, Mistral, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Grok and Poe all have a free way in, and Meta says everyday use of Meta AI stays free.
Free tiers differ in what they cap: Claude limits Projects to five, and Perplexity gives very few Pro Searches, so compare them on the work you actually do.
Is there a European alternative to Gemini?
Mistral, which is based in France, is the one on this list. Its assistant is now called Vibe, Pro is US$14.99 a month, and its Team plan adds data export. Its Enterprise plan offers self-hosted and on-premises deployment through sales.
Is DeepSeek a safe replacement for Gemini?
It depends on the data. DeepSeek's terms are governed by PRC law and do not state a storage location, so regulated or confidential data is a poor fit.
For non-sensitive API workloads its published token prices are low, with off-peak rates at half the peak rates.
Can I get Gemini-style Gmail and Docs integration elsewhere?
Microsoft Copilot is the nearest, but inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook instead of Google's apps. Microsoft 365 Personal is US$9.99 a month and includes it. If your documents sit in Google Workspace, no alternative here plugs in as directly as Gemini does.
Which alternative suits a team better than Gemini?
Claude Team seats are US$20 per seat monthly on annual billing, Mistral Team is US$24.99 per user, and ChatGPT Business is billed per user annually with a two-user minimum.
Grok sells team seats from Premium at US$30. Check data export, SSO and invoicing before choosing, because they differ by plan.
