Claude Code vs Cursor
Claude Code is Anthropic's coding agent that runs in a terminal, in VS Code and JetBrains, in a desktop app and in the browser, and comes with paid Claude plans or token billing. Cursor is an AI coding product now owned by SpaceX, with a Teams plan at $30 or more per user per month. Claude Code wins on seat prices and data terms we could read; Cursor wins on model choice.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.
you want one agent that works from the terminal, CI or your current editor, accept Claude models, and prefer a seat price that also covers chat.
you want one product that offers models from Anthropic, Google, OpenAI and its own labs, want pooled team usage with SSO, and accept SpaceX as owner.

Where they differ

Where it runs
Claude Code lists a terminal CLI, a VS Code extension, a JetBrains plugin (which needs the CLI installed separately), a desktop app and a web version, and its docs include a link to install the extension in Cursor. Cursor's navigation lists Agents, Cloud, CLI and Download. Claude Code is documented on more surfaces and does not ask you to change editor.

Published team price
Claude Team lists Standard seats at $20 a seat per month billed annually ($25 monthly) and Premium at $100 ($125 monthly). Enterprise is $20 a seat per month billed annually, 20-seat minimum, plus usage at API rates. Cursor Teams starts at $30 per user per month, with Enterprise on request. Seat for seat, Claude is lower at entry, but Premium seats cost more than Cursor's start price.

Usage beyond the seat
Claude Code usage on Team and Enterprise draws on a seat allowance with a rolling five-hour window and a weekly window, shared with chat; usage credits and spend limits extend it. Cursor pools usage across a plan, refreshes it weekly, and bills third-party models at API list price with optional spending caps. Neither gives a fixed monthly total, so pilot before you budget.

Models on offer
Cursor's docs list models from Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Z.ai, Moonshot and Meta plus its own Composer and Grok models. Claude Code's docs describe Claude models and, for the terminal, VS Code and JetBrains, third-party providers for the same Claude models. If you want to switch between model makers inside one tool, Cursor is the option.

Training on your code and owner
Anthropic says it does not train on code sent under commercial terms (Team, Enterprise, API), while Pro and Max accounts follow a setting you control. Cursor says that with privacy mode on, Cursor and its providers do not train on your data; with it off, Cursor may use code and prompts for training. Cursor says SpaceX acquired it on 14 August 2026. Both are fine when the right setting is on.

When neither fits
If you want a tool that works inside the editor you already use without a new account, look at GitHub Copilot, which works in many IDEs. If you want a tool where you bring your own model keys, Cline is in the same category.
