Codacy vs DeepSource

Codacy and DeepSource both scan pull requests and add an AI reviewer, but they charge in different units. Codacy Team is a per-developer rate with unlimited lines of code, from 18 USD per developer per month billed annually, and it stops at 30 developers. DeepSource Team costs 24 USD per user per month, with AI review metered per 10,000 processed lines after a yearly credit. Codacy is cloud only, while DeepSource keeps self-hosting for Enterprise contracts. DeepSource was acquired by Harness in September 2026, and Codacy is a Portuguese company with SOC2 and GDPR badges.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

  1. 01

    Developer rate against lines processed

Codacy Team starts at 18 USD per developer per month billed yearly, or 21 monthly, with unlimited lines of code. DeepSource Team is 24 USD per user per month billed yearly and includes a 100 USD annual AI credit per user. After that, AI review is priced per 10K processed lines, at 8 USD on Standard or 15 USD on Advanced. Codacy's bill is easier to predict, because the pages we read show no lines meter on its Team tier.

    Edge: Codacy

  2. 02

    Which Git hosts are allowed

Codacy's pricing FAQ is blunt: projects on on-premise Git deployments are not supported. It works with GitHub Cloud, Bitbucket Cloud and GitLab Cloud, while Azure Repos is not supported and sits on a waitlist. There is no self-hosted version of Codacy at all. DeepSource lists self-hosted and airgapped deployment on its custom Enterprise plan, along with bring-your-own-key for Claude, OpenAI or Gemini models. For code that cannot leave your servers, only DeepSource has an answer, though it needs a sales conversation.

  3. 03

When the Team plan runs out

Codacy Team has a hard ceiling of 30 developers and 100 private repositories, after which you move to a quoted Business plan with unlimited private projects, SSO/SAML, audit logs, DAST, container scanning and licence scanning. DeepSource Team states unlimited repositories and unlimited pull request reviews, so a growing group meets no repository wall, only the lines and credits meter. Which limit hurts depends on whether you have many repositories or many processed lines, but the repository cap is Codacy's sharper edge.

    Edge: DeepSource

  4. 04

Free tiers for open source and solo work

Codacy's Developer plan costs 0 per developer per month and is an IDE plugin, with security scans across 38 languages. Its Team plan is free forever for open-source projects. DeepSource has an Open Source plan with unlimited public repositories and 1,000 pull request reviews a month. Neither source we read offers a free plan for a private team repository on its pull request reviewer. Codacy's free route is a plugin in the editor, while DeepSource's free route is the public repository.

    Depends on the buyer

  5. 05

    Fourteen days to decide

Both vendors run a 14-day trial and neither asks for a credit card. DeepSource adds up to 50 USD of bundled AI Review credits to its trial, which lets you see the metered part of the bill before you commit. Codacy's Team trial covers AI code review across 49 languages, plus merge gates. The trials are similar in length, but only DeepSource's one lets you test the metered AI charge itself, while Codacy has no such meter on the pages we read.

    Depends on the buyer

Lisbon company, San Francisco corporation, new parent

Codacy's terms name Qamine Portugal S.A. as the contracting entity, governed by Portuguese law with courts in Lisbon, and the pricing footer shows SOC2 and GDPR compliant badges. DeepSource, Corp. is a Delaware corporation in San Francisco, governed by Delaware law. On 9 September 2026 it announced that Harness had acquired it. The vendor says existing workspaces and integrations keep working while capabilities move into the Harness platform. For buyers wanting a European vendor with no pending change of owner, Codacy is steadier.

When neither fits

If you need a free plan for private repositories or a reviewer that reads the whole codebase, neither is the obvious pick. CodeRabbit and Qodo are the alternatives worth comparing next.

Codacy or DeepSource: questions

3 answers
Can Codacy scan code on a self-hosted GitLab or GitHub Enterprise server?

The pricing FAQ says projects on on-premise Git deployments are not supported. Supported providers are GitHub Cloud, Bitbucket Cloud and GitLab Cloud. Business lists GitHub Enterprise with data residency, which is a different matter from running your own server.

Does DeepSource charge for AI review beyond the seat price?

Yes. Team includes a 100 USD annual AI credit per user, and after it AI review is priced per 10K processed lines. Standard is 8 USD and Advanced is 15 USD per 10K.

Did the Harness purchase change how DeepSource works today?

The 9 September 2026 post says existing workspaces and integrations continue to work. It also says capabilities will become part of the Harness platform. The pages we read give no dates for those changes.
