Eventbrite vs Cvent

Eventbrite charges a published fee on each paid ticket and costs nothing on free events, while Cvent sells a quoted bundle of separately licensed solutions. One is a self-serve ticket shop with public discovery, the other a corporate event suite with venue and onsite modules. Both are United States companies with a financial owner behind them: Bending Spoons for Eventbrite, Blackstone for Cvent.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

Can you work out the bill before talking to anyone?

Eventbrite publishes its charge: 3.7% plus 1.79 USD per paid ticket, and 2.9% payment processing per order. Free events carry no fee. Cvent publishes no figure; pricing is a custom quote, so a buyer cannot estimate a total from the website. For a first budget, only Eventbrite lets you do the arithmetic yourself.

  2. 02

Which one covers rooms, diagrams and onsite check-in?

Cvent names Registration, Attendee Hub and OnArrival as solutions, with diagramming, Passkey room blocks and premium webinars as add-ons. Eventbrite's help centre names an organiser app for check-in, and no agenda, speaker or exhibitor management. A conference with hotel blocks and floor plans fits Cvent; Eventbrite does not name those functions at all.

Where do the limits sit: countries or user logins?

Eventbrite lists availability in six countries: the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Cvent's constraint is people: Professional includes 15 user logins, and Enterprise adds API access, single sign-on and unlimited logins. A European organiser should check Eventbrite's country list first; a large team should check Cvent's tier.

    Depends on the buyer

What does each owner mean for renewals?

Eventbrite's privacy policy names Bending Spoons S.p.A. as parent of the San Francisco entity. Cvent is based in Tysons, Virginia; Blackstone completed its acquisition on 15 June 2023 at 4.6 billion USD enterprise value, with ADIA as minority investor and Vista Equity Partners participating. Neither is independent. With Cvent, a quoted licence makes renewal terms the item to negotiate.

    Depends on the buyer

When neither fits

If you want a published flat price or a European-based vendor, neither fits well. pretix and Swoogo are two other options in our event management ranking.
