People look for a Kit alternative when a list that was free to grow starts to cost money, or when the work moves from a newsletter to automation, a team and several channels. Kit's free tier stops at broadcasts, so sequences and visual automations arrive with a paid plan priced by subscriber count. They move to another sender that bundles automation, or to an ecommerce or multichannel tool.
Short answer: The first three alternatives to Kit in our email marketing ranking are MailerLite, Brevo and Mailchimp. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose MailerLite if you have a small list and want automations without paying. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Email Marketing Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Kit.

01
Why buyers look past Kit
01
Automation is where the free tier ends
Kit's Free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers, unlimited forms, landing pages and broadcasts, tagging, segmentation and digital product sales. Visual automations, email sequences, rules and RSS campaigns need Creator or Creator Pro, which start at $39 and $79 a month for up to 1,000 subscribers. The price then rises with the subscriber tier, so a list of 10,000 sits far above the starting figure.
02
Team seats and reporting sit on the higher plan
The Creator plan allows two team members and shows only partial subscriber engagement analytics. Pro lifts the seat limit and adds email-content A/B testing, collaborative editing, engagement scoring, a referral programme through SparkLoop and an insights dashboard. A three-person marketing team therefore lands on the $79 starting tier before counting subscribers.
03
The product is built around creators, not stores
Kit's plan pages describe digital products, subscriptions, the Creator Network and newsletter sponsorships. The plan comparison we read lists no ecommerce flows such as abandoned-cart recovery and no SMS channel. A shop that sells physical goods or wants several channels in one tool will outgrow it.

United States · Per plan and contact tier per month, published
Contact-tier plans for small businesses, sold as Lite, Standard and Premium. Its pricing pages returned a bot check in our session, so we cannot quote its prices or limits; read them before comparing with Kit. Its knowledge base describes SMS as an add-on and says plans depend on contact count.
Switch from Kit if you run a local business and want phone and chat help alongside email.
United States · Free tier; Starter per seat, higher tiers per month with marketing-contact tiers, published
Free tools for up to two users, then Starter, Professional and Enterprise tiers. Professional and Enterprise carry a required one-time onboarding fee, and seats are priced separately. It is a marketing hub tied to a CRM, so it costs and takes far more to set up than a newsletter tool such as Kit.
Switch from Kit if marketing and sales must share one CRM and you can fund onboarding.
Kit stays the right choice when the work is a newsletter or creator business. The Free plan holds 10,000 subscribers with unlimited broadcasts, forms and landing pages, plus digital products and subscriptions sold from the list. Creator adds automations and sequences with a 14-day trial and no card, and the Creator Network gives recommendations from other creators. Staying is also sensible while the team is one or two people, since Creator allows two members.

What moving off Kit involves
01
Export the list before anything else
Kit sends the subscriber export as a download link to the account owner's email address, built from a bulk action on the Subscribers page. Select all subscribers, not just the page, or the file will miss part of the list. Export a segment separately if you want to keep tags as groups.
02
Rebuild automations by hand
Kit's help centre describes visual automations and sequences as account features, and the export we read covers subscribers, not workflows. Treat every automation and sequence as something to rebuild in the new tool, and keep the old account on a paid plan until the new flows have run.
03
Check where subscriber data goes
Kit says it uses the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses to transfer personal data to the United States. If your subscribers are in the EU or UK, ask the new vendor for the same statement and a data processing addendum before you import them. A deleted Kit account is removed within 24 to 48 hours of the request.
