For a technical team the value is difficult to argue with. It is self-service in the full sense: support answers precise questions competently but will not manage your server, and there is no managed layer to fall back on when something breaks at an awkward hour.

For a first business site on a tight budget, Hostinger is genuinely good value and the control panel is approachable for someone who has never managed hosting. Performance on shared plans is fine for normal traffic. The model depends on the renewal: the advertised price applies to the first term only, and the second costs several times more unless you commit to another multi-year period.

The caching stack is genuinely good for WordPress. DigitalOcean's pricing is the clearest in cloud infrastructure — you can predict a bill before you deploy — and the documentation taught a generation of developers how to run servers. Managed databases and Kubernetes are solid. It is unmanaged by default: you are the system administrator, and the managed add-ons cost enough that the price advantage narrows once you use them.

OVHcloud runs its own European data centres end to end, which matters when data residency is a contractual requirement rather than a preference, and the price per resource is competitive with Hetzner. Work out what the first ninety days cost in time
Licence cost is the number in the contract; setup effort is the number that surprises people. Ask every shortlisted vendor who does the configuration, how long it took the last customer of your size, and what happens if that person leaves halfway.

Check the exit before the entry
Ask for an export of your own data in a format you can open, and ask whether it is included or billed as a project. A vendor that hesitates here is telling you what renewal negotiations will feel like in three years.

Match the tool to the size you are, not the size you plan to be
Most regret in this category comes from buying for a headcount that never arrived. The entry-level products here are not worse; they are aimed at a different company.

Decide how much the jurisdiction matters
