GoDaddy Hosting alternatives: 12 web hosting tools compared

People look for a GoDaddy Hosting alternative when the host they bought alongside a domain no longer fits the site: the introductory price has lapsed, the plan is too thin for a growing WordPress site, or they want a provider that is only a host. They move to a lower-cost shared host, to a managed WordPress specialist, or to a cloud server they control.

Short answer: The closest replacements for GoDaddy Hosting in our web hosting ranking are Hostinger, IONOS and Bluehost. Choose Hostinger if you want the cheapest long-term shared plan and accept a different control panel. All 12 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Web Hosting in 2026, and each says where it differs from GoDaddy Hosting.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

GoDaddy Hosting

#18 of 18 in our web hosting ranking

  • Pricing: Per month by plan, published; introductory pricing
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Someone who wants domain, email and hosting on one bill
  • Not for: Anyone selecting a host on performance or support quality
01

Why buyers look past GoDaddy Hosting

  1. 01

A domain registrar that also sells hosting

GoDaddy describes itself as the world's largest domain registrar, with more than 80 million domain names under management, and sells web hosting, WordPress hosting and web app hosting inside that same account. For many customers hosting was an add-on at the domain checkout, not a decision. Reviewing it separately, against hosts that do nothing else, is the usual trigger for a search.

  2. 02

Introductory price against the price you keep paying

Our data records GoDaddy Hosting as published monthly pricing with introductory rates. That is also how most shared hosts sell: Hostinger's lowest price needs a 48-month term and its Premium plan renews at $10.99 a month, and Bluehost's lowest rate is tied to a 36-month term. Anyone whose first term is ending should compare renewal prices, not the headline figure.

  3. 03

Shared hosting on cPanel, with a ceiling

GoDaddy's shared hosting and VPS plans use cPanel, which is familiar and portable. The ceiling is the architecture: a shared plan is a slice of a server. Sites that outgrow it have three routes, namely a bigger shared plan, a managed WordPress host that tunes the stack, or a cloud server where you or a platform manage the machine.

What each one does differently

Hostinger

Lithuania · Per month, published; lowest rate needs a 48-month term, renewal higher

Hostinger is the closest like-for-like swap: shared hosting priced per month, with the lowest rates on a 48-month term (Premium $2.99 a month, renewing at $10.99) and a 30-day money-back guarantee. It uses its own hPanel instead of cPanel, so habits and some tutorials do not carry over. It is a Lithuanian company, headquartered in Vilnius.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you want the cheapest long-term shared plan and accept a different control panel.

Hostinger, #2 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

IONOS

Germany · Per month, published; introductory rate on a 1-year term, renewal higher

IONOS sells shared hosting in four tiers on a one-year promotional term, with unlimited traffic and websites, NVMe storage from 100 GB to 500 GB and a 30-day money-back guarantee. It is a German company. Like GoDaddy it also sells domains, so the registrar-plus-host arrangement stays, and so does the gap between promotional and regular price.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you want a registrar-and-host bundle from a German provider with fixed storage tiers.

IONOS, #14 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

Bluehost

United States · Per month, published; introductory rate on a 36-month term, renewal higher

Bluehost's shared tiers are Starter, Business and eCommerce Essentials, with the lowest rates on a 36-month term, a 99.99% uptime SLA with a 5% monthly credit, and a 30-day refund on hosting. It is the nearest US equivalent to GoDaddy, with the same introductory-versus-regular pricing pattern, so it does not solve a renewal problem.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you want another mainstream US shared host with WooCommerce tooling on a higher tier.

Bluehost, #16 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

SiteGround

Bulgaria · Per month, published; introductory rate prepaid for 12 months, renewal much higher

SiteGround runs StartUp, GrowBig and GoGeek plans on Google Cloud infrastructure with caching, daily backups and a CDN included, and it concentrates on WordPress. The StartUp plan covers one website; unlimited sites start at GrowBig. It is a Bulgarian company, and our data notes a prepaid 12-month introductory rate with a much higher renewal.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if your sites are on WordPress and speed and support matter more than the lowest price.

SiteGround, #6 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

DreamHost

United States · Per month by plan, published; introductory rate, renewal higher

DreamHost lists Web Hosting Launch (25 websites, 25 GB NVMe), DreamPress managed WordPress and managed VPS, each with a first-year price and a higher renewal, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee. It offers a path from shared to managed WordPress to VPS within one provider, but it is a US host, so it does not change jurisdiction.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you expect to move from shared to managed WordPress or VPS and want one vendor throughout.

DreamHost, #7 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

Krystal

United Kingdom · Per month by plan, published

Krystal is a UK host with six shared tiers (Amethyst at £7 a month up to Tanzanite at £97), cPanel, 380+ one-click installers, a 60-day money-back guarantee and phone support from a UK team. It is a Certified B Corp that reports 100% renewable energy. Monthly prices include VAT and are higher than budget hosts' headline rates.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you want cPanel kept, UK-based human support and no introductory-rate game.

Krystal, #5 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

Infomaniak

Switzerland · Per month by plan, published; 30-day free trial on web hosting

Infomaniak is a Swiss provider that hosts in its own data centres in Switzerland, states it belongs to its founders and employees, and offers a 30-day free trial on web hosting (credit card needed) from CHF 10.91 a month. It is dearer than budget hosts and its offer is built around Swiss and GDPR data handling rather than the lowest price.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if data location in Switzerland and independent ownership are requirements.

Infomaniak, #4 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

Hetzner

Germany · Per hour up to a monthly maximum, published; no introductory pricing, setup fee on some products

Hetzner Webhosting comes in S, M, L and XL, hosted in its Nuremberg data centre park, with unlimited mailboxes and extra storage sold per 10 GB. It is a German host. Pricing is shown at order time, so we have not stated figures. Hetzner also sells cloud servers under the same name.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you want a no-frills German host with a clear step up to cloud servers.

Hetzner, #1 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

Cloudways

Malta · By server size, published; billed hourly and invoiced monthly, 3-day trial

Cloudways is not shared hosting. It runs your site on a server it manages at DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS or Google Cloud, billed hourly and invoiced monthly, with a 3-day free trial and entry plans around $11 a month on DigitalOcean. Cloudways is part of DigitalOcean. There is no cPanel, and you pick and resize servers yourself.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you have outgrown shared hosting and want pay-as-you-go servers without administering them.

Cloudways, #17 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

Kinsta

United States · Per month by plan, published

Kinsta is managed WordPress hosting on Google Cloud Platform, with Business plans from $35 a month, 14 to 30 days of backup retention and support in eight languages. It is priced several times above shared hosting and only runs WordPress, so it does not replace a GoDaddy plan that carries other applications.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if a revenue-bearing WordPress site justifies paying for managed performance and support.

Kinsta, #3 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

WP Engine

United States · Per month by plan; Essential published with a first-year discount, larger plans quoted

WP Engine's Essential plan starts at €25.60 a month with a 20% first-year discount for new customers and tiers from 1 to 30 sites; Core and Enterprise add isolated or dedicated resources. Extra sites cost $20 a month each. It is WordPress only and plans are limited by monthly visits, which GoDaddy shared plans are not sold on.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you host WordPress for clients and want a visit-based managed plan with isolated resources above it.

WP Engine, #11 of 18 in our web hosting ranking →

OVHcloud

France · Per month by resource or plan, published; web hosting discounted in the first year, renewal higher

OVHcloud sells Eco, Business and Agency hosting with entry plans from $1.89 a month, rising to $29.49 for agencies, with unlimited free SSL, automatic backups and anti-DDoS protection. It is a French provider with European data centres. The low tiers are tightly limited, for example 1 GB and one site on Starter.

Switch from GoDaddy Hosting if you want a French provider with a cheap entry plan and a ladder up to agency hosting.

When GoDaddy Hosting is still the right choice

GoDaddy Hosting stays sensible when the domain, the email and the site already live in one account and nobody wants to manage three vendors. A small brochure site on a plan that works, with cPanel available and a renewal price you have checked and accept, gains little from migrating. Move only when the renewal price, the plan ceiling or the registrar-and-host dependence is the actual problem.

05

What moving off GoDaddy Hosting involves

  1. 01

Separate the domain from the host first

If your domain is registered at GoDaddy, you do not have to transfer it to change host. Point the nameservers or DNS records at the new provider and keep the registration where it is. Moving the domain is a separate decision, and combining the two changes at once makes problems harder to trace.

  2. 02

Move the site, then the email

A cPanel account holds files, databases and often the mailboxes. Copy the files and databases to the new host and test on a temporary address. Hostinger and Infomaniak advertise free migration of existing sites, which saves work. Lower the DNS TTL beforehand, and move mail last so that no messages go missing during propagation.

  3. 03

Check what the new term really costs

Several hosts quote their lowest price only for a 36 or 48-month prepayment, then renew higher. Read the renewal price and the term before ordering. A monthly-billed host such as Krystal, Hetzner or Cloudways costs more per month but commits you to nothing.

Questions about replacing GoDaddy Hosting

6 answers
What is the best alternative to GoDaddy Hosting?

For the same kind of product, Hostinger, IONOS and Bluehost are the nearest shared hosts. SiteGround and Kinsta suit WordPress sites that need speed.

Cloudways suits sites that have outgrown shared hosting. The right one depends on whether price, WordPress performance or data location is driving the move.

Is there a GoDaddy hosting alternative in Europe?

Yes. Hetzner and IONOS are German, Infomaniak is Swiss, Krystal is British, OVHcloud is French and Hostinger is Lithuanian. Hosting in Europe does not by itself settle GDPR obligations, so check where each provider's data centres are, as Hetzner (Nuremberg) and Infomaniak (Switzerland) state.

Which alternative keeps cPanel?

Krystal includes cPanel on all shared plans. GoDaddy's own shared and VPS plans also use it. Hostinger uses its own hPanel, and Cloudways has its own dashboard, so expect a short learning period with those.

Do I need to move my domain when I leave GoDaddy hosting?

No. The registration and the hosting are separate products. Keep the domain at GoDaddy and change the DNS records or nameservers to the new host. Transfer the domain later, if at all, as a separate step.

Is there a cheaper alternative to GoDaddy Hosting?

Hostinger and OVHcloud advertise the lowest entry prices of the group, but both are introductory or long-term-term figures. Compare the price after renewal. A flat monthly host with no promotional rate is the more honest comparison for a site you plan to keep.

What should I choose if my WordPress site has outgrown shared hosting?

Managed WordPress hosts such as Kinsta and WP Engine optimise the stack for WordPress and price by visits or plan size.

Cloudways offers managed cloud servers at a lower starting price, but you size the server. DreamHost and SiteGround have managed WordPress tiers between shared and those specialists.
