Entry price and commitment
The headline numbers look alike. Hostinger lists Premium at $2.99 a month, but only on a 48-month term. SiteGround's European site lists StartUp at 2.99 € a month prepaid for 12 months. The currencies differ, so the figures are not directly comparable, but SiteGround asks for one year of commitment where Hostinger asks for four.

The renewal jump
Both use the same mechanism, and the vendors publish the figures. Hostinger Premium renews at $10.99 a month, a little under four times its introductory rate. SiteGround StartUp renews at 15.99 € a month, more than five times its introductory rate, and that arrives after one year, not four. Hostinger's increase is the milder and the later of the two.

SiteGround StartUp hosts 1 website on 10 GB and is sized for around 10,000 monthly visits; GrowBig raises that to 50 GB and roughly 100,000 visits. Both include a 30-day money-back guarantee. WordPress performance
Hostinger offers managed WordPress on LiteSpeed servers, and its shared plans are fine for ordinary traffic. SiteGround goes further, with Google Cloud infrastructure, multi-level caching on every plan and a CDN with more than 170 edge locations. The catch is storage, which starts at 10 GB. For speed on a modest-sized WordPress site, SiteGround has the better case.

When neither fits
Neither is right for a technical owner who refuses introductory pricing altogether and can run a server. Hetzner publishes monthly prices with no renewal trap and the lowest cost per resource, and netcup sells cheap German servers and hosting without a renewal price jump.
