Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026

Financial reporting software turns ledger balances into the statements, variance packs and filings that a board, a lender or a regulator reads.

This guide ranks twelve products on the first ninety days of setup, the price once consolidation and planning are added, the cost of leaving, and whether a mid-sized finance team can run the product without a consultant.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. How that works.

In short

What financial reporting software does

Financial reporting software pulls figures from accounting systems and spreadsheets to produce income statements, balance sheets, group consolidations, variance reports and regulatory filings, with drill-down to the underlying transactions.

How we ranked these

5 criteria, in order

In this order: setup effort, what it really costs, how your data comes back out, whether you can leave, and who each financial reporting tool is built for. One rule sits on top of those tests: Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Why those five, and why there is no score out of ten, is on the how we work page.

#1 Centage

Budgeting and reporting for mid-market finance teams, onboarding included

Ranked #1 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Published pricingNorth America

Centage bundles reporting with budgeting and multi-entity consolidation, including intercompany eliminations, and adds a Personnel module with ADP, UKG and Paylocity integrations at no extra module fee.

The first ninety days are the weakest point of most tools and the strongest claim here: standard installation is included and the vendor quotes four to six weeks. The price depends on entities and accounts, so a holding structure costs more than a single company. Custom report engineering is scoped separately.

What stands out
  • Mid-market
  • Onboarding included
  • Excel plug-in
Where it costs you
  • Sold on a quote, so the real annual figure depends on your entity count and chart of accounts
  • Aimed at mid-market companies of roughly $25M to $500M, not at very large groups
Right for

Mid-market finance teams wanting reporting, budgeting and consolidation with onboarding done for them

Wrong for

Group finance functions with hundreds of contributors and bespoke consolidation rules

United StatesQuoted per organisation by entities, accounts and seats; starting price published

#2 Solver

Excel-style reporting, consolidation and planning on one licence model

Ranked #2 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Solver separates people by what they do: Standard users build and manage, Contributors enter budgets and forecasts, Viewers read published reports. That tiering keeps the seat cost down when most staff only read numbers.

Every subscription includes templates, connectors, support and updates, so there is no module list to total up. The catch is the quote itself, and the QuickStart integrations cover Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct and Acumatica first.

What stands out
  • Excel-native
  • Consolidation
  • ERP connectors
Where it costs you
  • No prices on the pricing page, only licence types and a request for a quote
  • QuickStart connectors are named for a short list of ERPs, so other ledgers need their own integration
Right for

Excel-centred finance teams wanting reports, consolidation and budgets in one suite

Wrong for

Teams wanting a purely browser-based tool with no Excel designer

United StatesQuoted per organisation; licences by user type

#3 Zebra BI

Variance-ready financial visuals for Power BI, Excel and PowerPoint reports

Ranked #3 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Free tierPublished pricingEurope

Plans are sized by audience: 10 users on Starter, 50 on Business, more on a quoted Enterprise plan, with annual billing. Setup means adding visuals to a report you already own, which should take hours rather than weeks.

The pages list no step that fetches, maps or consolidates accounts. Starter limits variance analysis to two comparison measures, Business allows five, and the free version is for personal use.

What stands out
  • IBCS visuals
  • Power BI add-in
  • Published price
Where it costs you
  • Needs data already modelled in Power BI, Excel or PowerPoint, because it is a presentation layer
  • Every builder and every viewer needs a licence, so wide distribution raises the cost
Right for

Analysts who already have the numbers in Power BI and need readable variance reports

Wrong for

Anyone who needs consolidation or ledger connectors from the tool itself

SloveniaFree single-user version; annual licence per audience size, published

#4 Qvinci

Collects QuickBooks and Xero files from many locations into one report

Ranked #4 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Qvinci's central idea is mapping each location's different chart of accounts onto one standard chart, then consolidating automatically. That removes the weekly spreadsheet merge that multi-site groups know well.

Dashboards, drill-down to general ledger transactions and daily data tests are part of it, with scheduled report delivery. It is a narrow product by design, and a company with one entity gains little from the mapping layer.

What stands out
  • Multi-location
  • QuickBooks and Xero
  • Account mapping
Where it costs you
  • Named integrations are QuickBooks and Xero, with an API for the rest, so other ledgers need integration work
  • The site shows no price list, so the cost only appears after a demo or trial
Right for

Accounting firms and franchise groups reporting across many small sets of books

Wrong for

A single company wanting one ledger and a few statements

United StatesDemo or trial on request; no price shown on the site

#5 Abacum

FP&A platform that joins actuals, assumptions and plans for reporting

Ranked #5 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Abacum connects source systems and lines up actuals, assumptions and plans so that reports and forecasts refer to the same numbers. The AI Modeler turns plain-language descriptions into financial models without formulas.

The company states SOC 2 Type II certification. For a buyer whose job is only statements and variance packs this is a large platform to adopt, and its demo-only route means the first price you see comes from a salesperson.

What stands out
  • FP&A platform
  • Demo only
  • AI modelling
Where it costs you
  • The pricing address returns the home page, so no price or plan list is visible before a demo
  • Reporting is one part of a planning platform, so a reporting-only buyer pays for more than needed
Right for

Finance teams wanting planning and reporting from one platform, led by a sales conversation

Wrong for

Buyers who want to compare a published price before booking a call

United StatesDemo request only; no price shown on the site

#6 Datarails

Excel-based FP&A with plans that scale by users and integrations

Ranked #6 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestElsewhere

The plan ladder is explicit about what you buy: seats and integrations. Professional gives two users and one integration; Premium five users, two integrations and spend tools; Expert 15 users, 50 viewers, three integrations plus cash, close and receivables.

The lack of consultant fees is a stated policy. The weak point is the low integration count, since a company with an ERP, a CRM and payroll hits the ceiling at once.

What stands out
  • Three plans
  • No consultant fees
  • Unlimited dashboards
Where it costs you
  • Entry plan allows two users and one integration, so a normal team moves up a plan quickly
  • Every plan is a quote and the site names no price
Right for

Small finance teams wanting reporting and planning packaged with fixed user limits

Wrong for

Teams with more than a few data sources on the entry plan

Not stated by the vendorQuoted per organisation; three plans by users and integrations

#7 LiveFlow

Multi-entity consolidation and reporting layered over your existing ERP

Ranked #7 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestElsewhere

LiveFlow FP&A is the part relevant here: consolidation across entities, A/P and A/R reporting, department and project reporting, budget versus actuals and cash flow forecasting are all listed as included.

It works on the system you already have rather than replacing it, which keeps setup short. The vendor names construction, healthcare, food and beverage and retail as its industries. The homepage leads with Flow, so ask how the reporting product fits that direction.

What stands out
  • Multi-entity
  • Sheets and Excel
  • Demo only
Where it costs you
  • Pricing is tailored and handled through a demo, with no plan list on the site
  • The company now leads with its agentic accounting product, so the reporting product is one of two
Right for

Multi-location businesses wanting consolidated reports from the ERP they already use

Wrong for

Buyers who want a published price list before talking to anyone

Not stated by the vendorQuoted per organisation; tailored to what you need

#8 Inforiver

Reporting matrix and planning visuals for financial statements in Power BI

Ranked #8 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

The Reporting Matrix handles what the native Power BI matrix cannot: formatted financial statements, inserted rows and columns, formulas, audit log, notes and paginated output with headers and footers.

Zebra BI occupies similar ground with a different focus. The vendor lists planning and writeback products as well, which widens the catalogue. The dependency is total: no Power BI, no Inforiver, and a Fabric or Power BI bill sits underneath.

What stands out
  • Power BI visuals
  • Financial statements
  • Bundle licence
Where it costs you
  • Runs only inside Power BI, so the data model and the licence for it come first
  • Sold as separate products plus a bundle, which makes the total depend on which visuals you add
Right for

Power BI shops that need formatted, paginated financial statements without leaving it

Wrong for

Companies that have not standardised on Power BI

United StatesMonthly subscription per product or bundle; trial offered

#9 insightsoftware

Excel-formula reporting on ERP data, sold within a wider software portfolio

Ranked #9 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Spreadsheet Server keeps reporting in the tool accountants already use, so retraining is short, and drill-down shows where a number came from. The wider portfolio means the sales conversation will also cover close, consolidation and planning.

That is useful when you want them and a risk when you do not. The about page names three brands, Lineos, Simba and Certent, and says insightsoftware products continue to be sold and supported, so confirm which brand Spreadsheet Server sits under.

What stands out
  • Spreadsheet Server
  • ERP reporting
  • Portfolio vendor
Where it costs you
  • Pricing needs a form submission and a conversation with a sales expert
  • A portfolio of many products makes it easy to buy modules you did not plan for
Right for

Finance teams on SAP, Oracle or Microsoft ERPs who want to stay in Excel

Wrong for

Buyers wanting a single small product from an independent specialist

United StatesQuoted per organisation; price form on the website

#10 DFIN ActiveDisclosure

SEC filing and XBRL reporting software with Excel linking and tie-outs

Ranked #10 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestElsewhere

ActiveDisclosure keeps Excel as the single source and updates every linked number across the filing when the workbook changes. It handles iXBRL tagging, tie-out binders and health checks for deadlines, and also ESG disclosures and beneficial ownership forms.

That scope is narrow and deep. A company that is not an SEC filer pays for functions it never opens, and the pairing with DFIN services makes the cost of leaving harder to estimate.

What stands out
  • SEC filings
  • iXBRL tagging
  • Excel linking
Where it costs you
  • Built for regulatory filings, so it is no use for monthly management reporting
  • Software is paired with services, and the site shows no price
Right for

Listed or soon-to-list companies preparing 10-K, 10-Q and registration filings

Wrong for

Private companies that only need monthly statements and board packs

Not stated by the vendorQuoted per organisation; demo booking

#11 Toppan Merrill

SEC disclosure platform Bridge, with SOX and content tools

Ranked #11 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

Bridge runs on the Microsoft 365 platform, so drafting stays close to the Word and Excel files finance already uses, and one platform handles EDGAR and iXBRL submissions. The same vendor also sells ownership-form filing, SOX controls and communications tooling.

Two divisions of Merrill Corporation were acquired by Toppan Vintage in 2018 and the company says it is part of Toppan Next. Buyers need to cost the services alongside the software.

What stands out
  • Bridge SEC filing
  • SOX automation
  • Services-led
Where it costs you
  • No price or plan list, only a prompt to talk to an expert
  • Narrow to regulatory disclosure and compliant communications, not management reporting
Right for

Public companies and advisers preparing SEC filings in Microsoft 365

Wrong for

Teams wanting self-service management reporting from ledger data

United StatesRequest an expert conversation; no price shown on the site

#12 OneStream

Close, consolidation, planning and reporting on a single enterprise platform

Ranked #12 of 12 in Best Financial Reporting Software in 2026.

Pricing on requestNorth America

OneStream is the widest product on this list: close, consolidation, tax, reconciliations, planning, cash forecasting, workforce planning and ESG reporting share one data model. That is its argument against stitching tools together.

It is also why it ranks low here, since setup is a project, the price is quoted after a demo, and a team that needs statements and variance reports pays for modules it will not use.

What stands out
  • Single platform
  • Consolidation
  • Enterprise scale
Where it costs you
  • Reporting is one module of a very large platform
  • Pricing is not shown and the entry route is a demo request
Right for

Large groups replacing separate close, consolidation and planning systems with one platform

Wrong for

Mid-sized teams wanting reporting live inside a few weeks

United StatesDemo request; no price shown on the site

How to choose financial reporting software

Financial reporting software pulls figures from accounting systems and spreadsheets to produce income statements, balance sheets, group consolidations, variance reports and regulatory filings, with drill-down to the underlying transactions. The differences that matter are rarely in the feature list, so this is the order we would work through them.

  1. 01

Decide whether you need a published price

2 of the 12 tools here publish what they cost; the other 10 quote per organisation. The ones you can compare without a sales call: Centage, Zebra BI.

  2. 02

Decide how much the jurisdiction matters

These 12 vendors are established in 3 countries across 3 regions (North America 8, Elsewhere 3, Europe 1). That decides whose disclosure law applies to what the vendor holds, wherever the servers are.

Reporting layer, planning suite or filing platform: settle the job first

Products in this market solve three different problems and share one label. Zebra BI and Inforiver are visual layers for Power BI: they format variance reports and financial statements from data you have already modelled. Qvinci maps the books of many locations into a standard chart of accounts, which is a consolidation job.

OneStream and Datarails bundle reporting into planning, close or cash modules. DFIN ActiveDisclosure and Toppan Merrill prepare SEC filings with iXBRL tagging, which a private company never needs. Buying a filing platform to produce board packs, or a Power BI visual to consolidate ten entities, is the commonest wasted purchase, so write the one-line job before any demo.

  • Write the job as one sentence: board pack, group consolidation or regulatory filing.
  • Ask each vendor which of those three jobs it was built for.
  • Cross out every module on the quote that the sentence does not need.

Plans differ in seats, entities and connectors, not in reports

The report builder is rarely what limits you. Datarails fixes users and integrations per plan, starting at two users and one connected system, so a team with an ERP, a CRM and payroll outgrows the bottom plan on day one. Centage prices by legal entities, size of the chart of accounts and seats, which makes a holding structure dearer than a single company.

Solver sells Standard, Contributor and Viewer licences, which is cheaper when most staff only read numbers. Zebra BI requires a licence for every builder and every viewer, so a hundred readers cost more than a ten-person team. Compare quotes on the same headcount, entity count and source-system count.

  • Give every vendor the same entity count, user count and number of source systems.
  • Ask what a read-only viewer costs, separately from a builder.
  • Ask which connectors sit on the entry plan and which are extra.

The ledger connector decides how long the first ninety days take

Reporting fails on data before it fails on features. Solver ships QuickStart connectors for Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct and Acumatica, so a company on those ledgers starts quickly and one on another system builds its own. Qvinci takes QuickBooks, Xero or an API feed. Spreadsheet Server from insightsoftware lists more than 140 ERP and data sources, which is a long list.

LiveFlow sits on top of the system you already run rather than replacing it. Centage states that AI reads the ERP and maps the chart of accounts, then US-based specialists finish the work, with go-live in four to six weeks. Test your own ledger in the trial, not the demo ledger.

  • Name your ledger to each vendor and ask for a reference customer on it.
  • Count the hours your team spends mapping accounts in the first month.
  • Run last quarter's real trial balance through the tool before signing.

Reports built in Excel or Power BI stay yours when the vendor goes

Exit cost in this category is the report layout, because the numbers are still in your ledger. Zebra BI works in Power BI, Excel and PowerPoint, and Inforiver inside Power BI, so the report files live in tools you already license. Spreadsheet Server builds reports with Excel formulas, and Centage ships an Excel plug-in alongside its platform.

Platform products such as OneStream and Abacum keep models and workflows inside the vendor's system, and their home pages do not mention exporting them. DFIN and Toppan Merrill bundle services with software, so leaving means replacing people as well as a tool. Ask for the export in writing before you migrate a year of history.

  • Ask for a sample export of reports, mappings and history before signing.
  • Find out whether report layouts can be opened without the vendor's login.
  • Ask what happens to services contracts when the software contract ends.

What goes wrong most often when buying financial reporting software

  • Buying a planning and budgeting suite when the only deliverable is a monthly set of statements and a variance pack.
  • Comparing a published price for Zebra BI with a quoted one for OneStream without counting viewers, entities and connectors on both.
  • Choosing an SEC filing platform such as DFIN ActiveDisclosure for management reporting at a company that does not file with the SEC.
  • Trusting a demo ledger and skipping a trial balance from your own system, where chart-of-accounts mapping is the real work.

Frequently asked questions

6 answers
What is the best financial reporting software in 2026?

Centage leads our ranking of 12. Centage prices by legal entities, size of the chart of accounts and number of seats, and says every subscription carries the full platform, US-based onboarding and a named customer success manager, with go-live in four to six weeks.

It publishes a starting figure and a typical range, which most rivals avoid. It is written for two to ten person finance teams, so very large groups sit outside it.

Which financial reporting tools publish their pricing?

2 of the 12, with the pricing model each one publishes:

  • Centage: Quoted per organisation by entities, accounts and seats; starting price published.
  • Zebra BI: Free single-user version; annual licence per audience size, published.

The other 10 quote per organisation.

Is there a free financial reporting tool?

Zebra BI offer a free tier or a free self-hosted edition.

Where are these financial reporting software vendors established?

In 3 countries across 3 regions: North America 8, Elsewhere 3, Europe 1.

  • Centage: United States.
  • Solver: United States.
  • Zebra BI: Slovenia.
  • Qvinci: United States.
  • Abacum: United States.
  • Datarails: Not stated by the vendor.
  • LiveFlow: Not stated by the vendor.
  • Inforiver: United States.
  • insightsoftware: United States.
  • DFIN ActiveDisclosure: Not stated by the vendor.
  • Toppan Merrill: United States.
  • OneStream: United States.
What should you use instead of Centage?

Solver and Zebra BI are the next two on this page. Solver is for Excel-centred finance teams wanting reports, consolidation and budgets in one suite; Zebra BI is for Analysts who already have the numbers in Power BI and need readable variance reports.

Who should not buy Centage?

Group finance functions with hundreds of contributors and bespoke consolidation rules. Sold on a quote, so the real annual figure depends on your entity count and chart of accounts.
