Copper vs Insightly

Both are United States CRMs with three paid tiers and no free plan, but they ration different things. Copper caps contacts, at 2,500 on Basic and 15,000 on Professional, and lives inside Gmail and Google Calendar through a Chrome extension. Insightly caps records, at 100,000 on its entry tier, and holds back lead assignment and routing until Professional. Copper is dearer when paid monthly at the top, while Insightly lists extras such as setup and onboarding that a buyer should price in from the start.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

Copper 3 · Insightly 2 · open 1
  1. 01

Annual seats from $23 to $99, or from $29 to $99

Copper lists Basic at $23, Professional at $59 and Business at $99 per seat per month when billed yearly, and $29, $69 and $134 when paid monthly. Insightly lists CRM Plus at $29, Professional at $49 and Enterprise at $99 per user per month, all billed annually. Copper is cheaper on its entry tier, Insightly is cheaper in the middle, and the top tiers match on annual billing. Prices are in USD.

    Depends on the buyer

  2. 02

How many leads you can store before the next tier

Copper counts contacts: 2,500 on Basic, 15,000 on Professional and unlimited on Business, so a purchased lead list can reach the Basic cap quickly. Insightly counts records instead, with 100,000 on Plus, 250,000 on Professional and 500,000 on Enterprise. For a team importing large lists, Insightly's entry tier leaves far more room before anyone has to upgrade.

  3. 03

Where routing and automation switch on

Insightly puts lead assignment and routing, workflow automation and its AI Copilot on Professional, while Plus covers lead and contact management. Copper's Basic already has task automation, pipelines and contact enrichment, and Professional adds workflow automation, bulk email and reporting. Neither gives routing on the cheapest tier in the pages we read, but Copper reaches workflow automation at a higher price point than Insightly does.

  4. 04

    Living inside Gmail

Copper's Google Chrome extension brings it natively into Gmail and Google Calendar, which is its main reason to exist for a Workspace team. Insightly's pages list 254 app integrations plus HTTP and custom integrations, naming QuickBooks Online, Xero, Shopify, Slack and Okta, but a Gmail extension is not described there. Which wins depends on whether your day starts in an inbox or in a connector list.

  5. 05

Trials, onboarding and the extras on the bill

Copper says you can start a free trial with no card, without stating its length, and keeps personal onboarding and premium support for eligible annual Business and Professional accounts. Insightly gives Plus and Professional a card-free trial of 14 days, but lists required add-ons including AppConnect technical setup at $3,000 and guided onboarding at $1,500. Copper is the more predictable bill.

Leaving: data export and company facts

Insightly's terms allow export only on request within ten days before termination, and data may be deleted within 24 hours after expiry. Copper's pages state no export rule that we found. Copper CRM, Inc. is in San Francisco and says it was founded in 2012 with $102M in funding. Insightly, Inc. is a Delaware corporation registered in Denver. The unfavourable exit terms are written down only for Insightly.

When neither fits

Anyone after a free plan or a European vendor will not find it here. Less Annoying CRM is a simpler alternative for a small team, and Pipedrive is a pipeline-focused option worth checking.

Copper or Insightly: questions

3 answers
Will a bought lead list fit on Copper's cheapest tier?

Only if it stays under 2,500 contacts, because Basic stops there. Professional allows 15,000 and Business is unlimited. Past that point you move up a tier rather than pay for extra contacts.

Does Insightly keep my data after I cancel?

The terms allow export only if you ask in the ten days before termination. Data may be deleted within 24 hours after expiry or termination. Ask early if you plan to leave.

Is either of these an EU-based CRM?

No. Copper CRM, Inc. is named in San Francisco and Insightly, Inc. is a Delaware corporation with its registered address in Denver. No hosting location is stated on either.
