UpLead vs LeadIQ

UpLead and LeadIQ both sell contact data against credits, but they spend those credits in different ways. UpLead is a searchable database where one credit reveals a contact with email and mobile direct dial together, and it offers a short trial with five credits. LeadIQ is a browser tool for reps, with a permanent free plan of fifty credits and weighted costs that make phone numbers ten times dearer than emails. Both companies state a United States base, so location does not separate them.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

  1. 01

Five trial credits against fifty free ones

UpLead starts with a 7-day free trial that comes with 5 credits, which is enough to test a handful of records and not much more. LeadIQ instead offers a standing free plan with 1 user and 50 credits, with no end date stated anywhere on the pricing page. For a person who wants to learn the tool slowly before paying anything, LeadIQ gives noticeably more room to experiment than UpLead's short trial does.

  2. 02

What eleven credits buy at LeadIQ

LeadIQ weights its credits: an email costs 1, a phone number 10, an email plus phone 11, and account enrichment 3. Anyone chasing mobile numbers will see a paid allowance disappear fast, and the vendor's own page shows database search as limited on lower tiers. The model rewards email-led outreach and punishes phone-heavy lists. It is clear about the weights, which at least lets you do the arithmetic before buying.

    Edge: UpLead

  3. 03

One credit, one contact, no email-only discount

At UpLead one credit unlocks a contact for download or CRM export and gives access to the email and the mobile direct dial. The flip side is that you cannot pay less for emails alone, because the bundle is the unit. Essentials includes 170 monthly credits. If every record you want needs both channels, the flat unit is easy to forecast, but an email-only team pays for data it never uses.

    Depends on the buyer

  4. 04

Where API access and CRM sync start

UpLead's Plus tier adds data enrichment, technographics, advanced filters and suppression lists, while the Professional tier adds buyer intent, full API, bi-directional CRM sync and team management. Professional is annual only and priced by talking to sales. LeadIQ lists signals, API access and CRM enrichment in its plan comparison, and its Pro tier is sized by a credit slider, so a sales call is not named as the gate in the material we checked, and that is a real contrast with UpLead.

    Edge: LeadIQ

  5. 05

Contract length on the monthly tiers

UpLead's FAQ says monthly plans carry no contract, with annual tiers available at a lower rate, and CSV download and CRM export are included. LeadIQ also publishes monthly credit tiers with annual billing saving 25%, with Enterprise on request. Neither vendor describes a long lock-in on its entry plans in the material we checked, which is reassuring for a small test budget and a changing team. UpLead is more explicit about the absence of a contract, which counts for something if your budget is uncertain.

    Edge: UpLead

  6. 06

Database search against a Chrome extension

UpLead is a classic database: search by filters, spend a credit, export to CSV or a CRM. LeadIQ lists Chrome extension prospecting and job-change tracking, and shows only limited access to database search. The terms name a company address in San Francisco for LeadIQ, and UpLead states it is based in the United States. Pick by workflow: filtered list building suits UpLead, while rep-by-rep prospecting from LinkedIn-style pages suits LeadIQ.

    Depends on the buyer

03

When neither fits

Anyone who needs a counterpart outside America, or a different charging model, gets neither here, because both vendors name an American base. Hunter is a lighter email-finding option, and Dropcontact is worth a look for enrichment with a different data approach.

UpLead or LeadIQ: questions

3 answers
Do UpLead trial credits cover a real test of a list?

The trial lasts 7 days and includes 5 credits, so it covers a handful of records only. One credit reveals a contact with email and mobile direct dial. That is enough to judge data quality on a few names, not to size a whole campaign.

Why does a phone number drain a LeadIQ allowance so quickly?

The pricing page weights credits at 1 for an email and 10 for a phone number. An email plus phone costs 11, and account enrichment costs 3. A 50-credit free plan therefore holds only about five phone lookups.

Which of the two keeps API access out of the cheapest paid tier?

UpLead puts full API access in the annual Professional tier, along with buyer intent and bi-directional CRM sync.

LeadIQ lists API access in its plan comparison, though which tier carries it is not stated in our notes, so read that comparison row on the live page before you commit any budget.
