SE Ranking alternatives: 11 SEO tools compared

The typical searcher is a freelancer, in-house marketer or small agency who adopted SE Ranking for its project-based rank tracking and then found that keywords, seats, AI prompts and agency features are each metered separately. They move to a larger all-in-one platform, to a tool with a flat monthly cancellable package, or to a narrower specialist for the one job they actually do.

Short answer: The first three alternatives to SE Ranking in our SEO tool ranking are Semrush, Ahrefs and SISTRIX. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose Semrush if you want the biggest toolset and the free plan to test it first. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best SEO Tools in 2026, and each says where it differs from SE Ranking.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

SE Ranking

#9 of 12 in our SEO tool ranking

  • Pricing: Per month per plan, published; add-ons extra; 14-day trial
  • Established in: Not stated by the vendor
  • Built for: Small agencies who bill clients per project and need white-label reporting
  • Not for: Buyers who need one named country of establishment on the contract
01

Why buyers look past SE Ranking

  1. 01

Every limit is a separate line on the bill

SE Ranking sells two published tiers, Core at EUR 109 a month (EUR 87.20 billed annually) and Growth at EUR 235 (EUR 188 annually). Extra keywords start at EUR 20.80, extra manager seats at EUR 14.40, and AI search, the Agency Pack and the API are add-ons priced on top. A team that outgrows 2,000 daily keywords on Core or 10 projects pays for several things at once.

  2. 02

Cheaper when billed annually, with a catch

The listed discount is 20% for annual billing, and the Agency Pack and API add-ons are sold on annual billing only. The vendor states that an annual plan cannot be paid monthly, and that payments are non-refundable except where the service was not delivered as promised. There is a 14-day trial without a card, but no permanent free plan on the pricing page.

  3. 03

A platform that is widening into other products

SE Ranking now sits next to SE Visible and Planable in the vendor's own navigation, and the privacy statement names Planable Inc. as a group company. The platform keeps adding AI search tracking and social tooling. Teams that wanted a focused tracker and audit tool may prefer a vendor with a narrower scope.

What each one does differently

Semrush

United States · Free plan; per month per plan, published; extra users and add-ons billed

The obvious larger all-in-one. Its SEO plan lists 5 websites and 500 daily keywords at EUR 134 a month (EUR 112.52 billed annually), with a free plan limited to one demo project. Extra users start at EUR 43 a month, so seats cost more than at SE Ranking.

Ahrefs

Singapore · Per month per plan, published; extra users billed

Switch from SE Ranking if backlink and competitor research matter more than rank tracking volume.

Ahrefs, #8 of 12 in our SEO tool ranking →

SISTRIX

Germany · Per package per month, published; 14-day trial

A German vendor with four packages from EUR 119 to EUR 799 a month plus taxes, each cancellable monthly. It is built around the Visibility Index. The Start package has one user and cannot add accounts, and the API only arrives at Professional (EUR 419).

A Danish daily rank tracker priced by keyword tier: from USD 224 a month for 2,000 keywords and from USD 764 for 10,000. Its pricing page lists tracking, reporting, keyword research and an API, but no backlink index or site audit, and annual payment gives 10% off.

Switch from SE Ranking if daily rank tracking at volume is the job and you already audit elsewhere.

AccuRanker, #6 of 12 in our SEO tool ranking →

Majestic

When SE Ranking is still the right choice

SE Ranking remains a sound choice for a small agency or in-house team whose main work is tracking many projects and producing reports. Core covers 10 projects and 2,000 daily keywords with research, backlink and audit tools in one subscription, and Growth keeps all-time historical data. Free migration is included with an annual plan, and the entry price is well below Semrush or Ahrefs at comparable keyword volumes. Leaving makes less sense if you only needed those tools at that scale.

05

What moving off SE Ranking involves

  1. 01

Exporting ranking history before the plan lapses

Ranking history is the one thing hard to rebuild. SE Ranking's plan table lists historical data as "6/mo" on Core and "All time" on Growth, so export keyword positions and reports while the subscription is active. Most alternatives can import a keyword list but not a ranking history.

  2. 02

    Mapping projects, seats and add-ons

List how many projects, keywords, manager seats and add-ons (AI search, Agency Pack, API) you actually pay for. Each alternative meters a different unit: Sistrix by package and projects, AccuRanker by keywords, Majestic by analysis units, Surfer by documents. A like-for-like quote needs the same inventory in front of you.

Questions about replacing SE Ranking

6 answers
Does SE Ranking have a free plan?

Its pricing page lists a 14-day free trial with no credit card, not a permanent free plan. Semrush, Ahrefs, Mangools and Seobility each publish a free plan or free account with limits, which is the closest match if free access is a requirement.

How much does SE Ranking cost?

Core is EUR 109 a month, or EUR 87.20 a month billed annually. Growth is EUR 235 a month, or EUR 188 annually.

Add-ons cost extra: the Agency Pack is EUR 59 a month, AI Search EUR 79 monthly (EUR 63.20 annually) and the API EUR 39 a month, with the Agency Pack and API on annual billing only.

Which alternative is closest to SE Ranking?

Semrush and Ahrefs are the closest in scope but cost more at similar volume. Serpstat and Seobility are nearer in size. Sistrix is similar in price but organised around one visibility index and is cancellable monthly.

Can I cancel SE Ranking and get a refund?

You can cancel at any time, but the vendor states that payments are non-refundable unless the service was not delivered as promised. It also says annual plans are billed upfront and cannot be paid monthly.

What is the best SE Ranking alternative for rank tracking only?

AccuRanker is built for it, with daily updates and plans priced by keyword tier from USD 224 a month. Mangools updates weekly, or daily on its Agency plan, and costs less to start with for small keyword sets.

Which tool should I use if I only need technical audits?

Screaming Frog is free to 500 URLs and a licence is paid per user per year, while Sitebulb offers a 14-day trial and desktop or cloud plans. Both run crawls without a rank tracker attached.
