Domo alternatives: 11 business intelligence tools compared

Domo teams start looking around when the new owner raises questions, when credit bills are hard to forecast, or when pipelines and dashboards have grown into one block that is costly to move. Alternatives split into lighter self-service tools, open source options that remove the licence, and warehouse-first products that expect you to run your own data stack.

Short answer: Metabase, Zoho Analytics and Lightdash head the list of Domo alternatives drawn from our business intelligence ranking. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Metabase is the one to try if you already have a database or warehouse and want a lighter front end. Every one of the 11 products below comes from Best Business Intelligence Tools in 2026, with a note on how it departs from Domo.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Domo

#12 of 13 in our business intelligence ranking

  • Pricing: Credit-based consumption with unlimited users, quoted
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Companies without a data warehouse that want connectors and dashboards in one contract
  • Not for: Buyers who need a published price they can calculate before talking to sales
01

Why buyers look past Domo

  1. 01

A change of owner in September 2026

Domo's news page lists a completed sale: on 22 September 2026 Progress Software announced it had acquired substantially all the assets of Domo's AI and data platform business. The product pages still carry the Domo name, and nothing we read says contracts change. Buyers on multi-year terms still tend to ask what the roadmap and support look like under a new parent.

  2. 02

You pay for activity, and the credit price is not public

Domo sells no per-seat licences. Its pricing page says credits are consumed when you store data, update tables, run workflows or use ML inference, and that custom pricing is agreed with sales. The page we read gives no price per credit, so the annual figure depends on a quote and on how much data you refresh.

  3. 03

Pipelines, storage and dashboards come as one package

Domo advertises more than 1,000 pre-built connectors, drag-and-drop transformation and apps in the same product. That is convenient on day one, and it also means an exit covers connectors, dataflows and dashboards together. Teams that already own a warehouse sometimes prefer a thin BI layer on top of it.

What each one does differently

Metabase

United States · Published

Metabase is a US company whose open source edition is free to run yourself. Hosted and self-hosted plans start at 100 dollars a month on its pricing page, with Pro at 575 dollars a month and a 14-day trial. Its Starter plan includes the first five users, then adds a per-user charge. It queries databases directly and does not supply Domo-style connectors.

Switch from Domo if you already have a database or warehouse and want a lighter front end.

Zoho Analytics

India · Published

Zoho Analytics comes from the Indian software group Zoho and carries ready-made connectors to CRM, finance and marketing apps. Our category record lists a free plan for two users and 10,000 rows, then monthly paid plans. Zoho's pricing page did not render for our automated check, so confirm current limits there before you rely on them.

Switch from Domo if you have no warehouse and mostly report on business apps at small scale.

Zoho Analytics holds rank 11 among 13 entries in our business intelligence guide →

Lightdash

United Kingdom · Published

Lightdash is a UK vendor whose open source edition is free to self-host. Hosted Cloud Pro costs 3,000 dollars a month flat with unlimited users, which removes the seat question. Metrics are defined in dbt, so the tool only pays off where the analytics team already works there.

Switch from Domo if your team keeps its metric definitions in dbt and wants them reused.

Lightdash holds rank 1 among 13 entries in our business intelligence guide →

Apache Superset

United States · Published

Apache Superset is maintained under the Apache Software Foundation and licensed under the Apache License, so there is no vendor fee at all. Your cost is the hosting, authentication, upgrades and staff time to run it. It reads SQL databases and has no managed connector library of the kind Domo ships.

Switch from Domo if you have engineers who can operate it and want zero licence cost.

Luzmo

Belgium · Published

Luzmo is a Belgian company that sells analytics for embedding in your own product. Its pricing page shows one plan, with white-labelling and AI included, from 1,995 euros a month billed annually. Inside a company it would be an odd fit; Domo's embedded analytics use case is the one it targets.

Switch from Domo if you mainly use Domo to show dashboards to your customers inside an app.

Luzmo review, listed at 2 of 13 business intelligence products →

Sigma

United States · On request

Sigma gives analysts a spreadsheet-style interface that runs every query live in your cloud warehouse. Its pricing is quoted by organisation, and its site offers a free trial. A warehouse is a precondition, so a company that relies on Domo for storage and connectors has extra platform work first.

Switch from Domo if your finance and operations staff think in spreadsheets and a warehouse exists.

Qlik Cloud Analytics (Qlik Sense)

United States · Published

Qlik sells its cloud product as Qlik Cloud Analytics, charged by data volume rather than seats. The Starter tier is listed from 300 dollars a month for 10 users, billed annually, and the next tier from 825 dollars a month for 25 GB. Its associative engine explores data in ways query-per-chart tools do not.

Switch from Domo if you want capacity pricing with published entry tiers and strong data exploration.

Qlik Cloud Analytics (Qlik Sense), #9 of 13 in our business intelligence ranking →

ThoughtSpot

United States · Published

ThoughtSpot puts search and AI questions in front of users. Its pricing page lists a dashboard-focused plan from 25 dollars per user a month and a plan from 50 dollars per user a month for 5 to 50 users with natural-language features, both billed annually. It expects a clean warehouse model beneath it.

Switch from Domo if most of your audience will ask questions instead of opening dashboards.

Tableau

United States · Published

Tableau is licensed per user by role, from 15 dollars a month billed annually according to our record. Its own pricing page blocked our automated check, so verify the tiers there. Capacity-based Viewer Blocks, added in July 2026, reach wide audiences without a seat each.

Switch from Domo if analysts need deep visual exploration and you accept a per-role licence.

Looker

United States · On request

Looker is Google Cloud's BI product, built around LookML models kept in version control. Pricing is a quoted platform fee per edition plus user licences. It asks for engineers and is the heaviest option here, though it gives a single governed definition of every metric.

Switch from Domo if one agreed set of metric definitions matters more than speed of rollout.

Looker review, listed at 8 of 13 business intelligence products →

Microsoft Power BI

United States · Published

Power BI is Microsoft's tool, listed in our record at 14 dollars per user a month for Pro, billed yearly, and bundled with Microsoft 365 E5. Reading reports without a paid licence needs a Fabric capacity of F64 or above. Microsoft's own page was not read for this check.

Switch from Domo if your staff live in Excel and Microsoft 365 and a per-user price suits you.

Which alternative for which situation

  1. 01

You have no warehouse and want a tool that connects to business apps

Zoho Analytics: Ready-made connectors to CRM and finance apps, and a free plan for two users and 10,000 rows in our record.

  2. 02

You want to run the BI tool on your own servers at no licence cost

Apache Superset: It is licensed under the Apache License with no seat count, and you carry hosting and upgrades.

  3. 03

You want to keep unlimited readers at a flat price

Lightdash: Cloud Pro is 3,000 dollars a month with unlimited users, and metrics come from your dbt project.

  4. 04

You use Domo to put dashboards in front of your own customers

Luzmo: One plan with white-labelling from 1,995 euros a month billed annually.

  5. 05

You need a fast self-service tool on your existing database

Metabase: The open source edition is free, and hosted Starter begins at 100 dollars a month with five users included.

04

When Domo is still the right choice

Domo remains a sensible choice when you have no warehouse, want connectors, transformation and dashboards from one vendor, and want every employee to read the same figures without buying a licence for each. Credit billing rewards organisations whose data is refreshed on a modest schedule. If the issue is the new owner rather than the product, ask Domo or Progress for written contract terms before deciding to move.

05

What moving off Domo involves

  1. 01

Rebuild the data flow before the dashboards

Dashboards in Domo sit on top of its own connectors and dataflows. List which datasets each dashboard depends on, then decide where that logic lives next: a warehouse, dbt, or the new tool's own preparation layer. Dashboards are the smaller part of the job.

  2. 02

Run both systems in parallel for one reporting cycle

Credits stop when a contract ends, so ask when yours expires and whether unused credits carry over. Keep Domo running through one monthly close, compare the key numbers side by side, and only then switch off the refreshes that consume credits.

Questions about replacing Domo

6 answers
Does Domo charge per user?

No. Its pricing page says there are no per-seat fees and unlimited users. Charges come from credits spent on storing data, updating tables, running workflows and ML inference, under a contract priced by sales.

Is there a free version of Domo?

Domo offers a 30-day free trial with full platform access and no credit card, according to its pricing page. We did not find a permanent free plan there, so Metabase or Apache Superset are the free routes.

Who owns Domo now?

Domo's news page reports that Progress Software completed its acquisition of substantially all the assets of Domo's AI and data platform business on 22 September 2026. Check your contract to see which entity you are dealing with.

Which alternative has the closest bundle of connectors?

Zoho Analytics lists ready-made connectors to business apps in our record, and Qlik sells data-capacity tiers. None matches the 1,000-plus connector figure Domo advertises, so list the sources you actually use and test them one by one.

What is the cheapest replacement for a small team?

Self-hosting Metabase or Apache Superset costs no licence, only hosting and time. Zoho Analytics has a free plan limited to two users and 10,000 rows in our record. Paid options start near 100 dollars a month on Metabase.

Can I keep Domo's unlimited readers on another tool?

Lightdash lists unlimited users at a flat 3,000 dollars a month, and our record says Tableau Cloud now sells capacity-based Viewer Blocks with unlimited viewer accounts. Both change what wide readership costs.
