Clockify alternatives: 12 time tracking tools compared

Clockify alternatives are sought by teams that outgrew the free plan and by those that want a tool with a different centre of gravity. Some want automatic tracking, some want attendance and leave handled properly, some want to host the data themselves. They move to flat-priced or free-core trackers, to German and Austrian specialists, or to heavier project-accounting suites.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Clockify in our time tracking ranking are Toggl Track, TimeCamp and Clockodo. Choose Toggl Track if you bill clients by the hour and want profitability reports in the same tool. All 12 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Time Tracking Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Clockify.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

Clockify

#3 of 16 in our time tracking ranking

  • Pricing: Free plan for up to 5 users; paid per user per month, published
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Small teams that fit the free plan, or larger ones wanting a low per-user price
  • Not for: Buyers who need data held by a European entity
01

Why buyers look past Clockify

  1. 01

The free plan has a user cap and a short memory

Clockify's free plan is for up to 5 users, and its reports cover a data range of one month. A team of six, or one that needs a quarter's history for a client invoice, meets the paid plans quickly. Standard is $5.49 per seat per month on annual billing ($6.99 monthly), so a ten-person team pays for the first jump before it has used any advanced feature.

  2. 02

Features that matter are spread across four paid tiers

Time off, invoicing, approvals and attendance start at Standard. Project profitability and activity features sit on Pro ($7.99 annual). Single sign-on, a custom subdomain and the choice of data region (EU in Germany, UK, USA or Australia) sit on Enterprise at $11.99 annual. A company that needs a German data location for its works council therefore pays the top price per head to get it.

  3. 03

Every invited person is a paid seat

Clockify states that every active or invited user on the Team page occupies one paid seat, including the owner, admins and managers. Only deactivated users do not count. For firms with many occasional contributors or supervisors, a flat or unlimited-user product can be cheaper than a per-seat one.

What each one does differently

Toggl Track

Estonia · Free tier; paid per user per month, published

Toggl Track has a free plan for a limited number of users and paid tiers from $9 per user per month on annual billing, with Premium at $16 adding profitability reports, timesheet approvals and single sign-on. It aims at agencies that bill hours, and it costs more per seat than Clockify's lower tiers.

Switch from Clockify if you bill clients by the hour and want profitability reports in the same tool.

Toggl Track, #1 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

TimeCamp

Poland · Free tier; paid per user per month, published

TimeCamp's free plan has unlimited users and unlimited projects, where Clockify's stops at 5 users. Paid plans start at $2.99 per user per month on annual billing, and screenshots, labour costs and timesheet approvals sit on the top Ultimate plan. An enterprise edition can be self-hosted.

Switch from Clockify if you have more than 5 users and want a free tier that does not cap headcount.

TimeCamp, #2 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

Clockodo

Germany · Per user per month, published

Clockodo, from Clockodo GmbH in Germany, prices Basic at 4 euros, Pro at 10 and Pro Plus at 12 per user per month. Basic covers work time and absences, project tracking begins at Pro. Its only free plan is for a solo self-employed user, so it is not a cheap route for teams.

Switch from Clockify if you are a German-speaking company and attendance and absences matter more than a free tier.

Clockodo, #4 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

Kimai

Austria · Free self-hosted; hosted plan per user per month, published

Kimai is an open-source time tracker that you can run on your own server or use as a hosted service. Hosting it yourself removes the per-seat bill and keeps the data on your infrastructure, but you carry installation, updates and backups. Its reporting is plainer than Clockify's paid tiers.

Switch from Clockify if you want to host the time data yourself and have someone to run the server.

Kimai, #6 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

Jibble

United Kingdom · Free core product; paid per user per month, published

Jibble is free for unlimited users, with desktop, mobile and web clock-ins and basic timesheets, where Clockify caps its free plan at 5 users. It is built around attendance and clocking in rather than project billing, so teams that invoice by project will find it narrower.

Switch from Clockify if you want an unlimited-user free tier mainly for attendance and clock-ins.

Jibble, #10 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

My Hours

Slovenia · Free tier; paid per user per month, published

My Hours has a free plan for up to 5 active users, the same cap as Clockify, with Basic at $4 and Pro at $8 per user per month on annual billing. Approval workflows, budgets and granular permissions sit on Pro. It is a plain project time tracker with no attendance focus.

Switch from Clockify if you want a lower-priced paid tier and project budgets without the extra Clockify tiers.

My Hours, #8 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

Timely

Norway · Per user per month, published

Timely tracks time automatically across apps and websites and categorises it with AI, instead of relying on timers. Starter costs $9 per user per month on annual billing and is limited to 5 users and 20 projects. Premium is $16 and caps at 50 users.

Switch from Clockify if people forget to start timers and you accept a higher price per seat.

Timely, #5 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

Tick

United States · Monthly plan by number of projects, published; unlimited users

Tick tracks time against project and task budgets and updates those budgets in real time, with apps for iOS, Android and the Apple Watch. It is a budget tool more than a timesheet or attendance tool, and it starts with a 30-day free trial rather than a free plan.

Switch from Clockify if keeping projects on budget matters more than detailed attendance records.

Tick, #7 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

ClickTime

United States · Per user per month by plan, published

ClickTime is aimed at finance teams and professional services firms. Starter is $15 per user per month for up to 25 users, Team $19 and Premier $31 for up to 200 users, with project budgeting and resource management on Premier. Even Starter costs more than Clockify's Standard.

Switch from Clockify if you run a services firm that needs approvals, budgets and resource planning.

ClickTime, #9 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

Buddy Punch

United States · Per user per month plus a base fee, published

Buddy Punch is an hourly-staff time clock with GPS on punches, time-off tracking and payroll integrations. Starter is $4.99 per user per month plus a $19 monthly base fee. Kiosk punch, webcam on punches and break compliance sit on Pro. It does not track project profitability the way Clockify does.

Switch from Clockify if you pay hourly staff and need verified clock-ins rather than project timesheets.

Buddy Punch, #11 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

Hubstaff

United States · Per seat per month, published, with a minimum seat count

Hubstaff combines time tracking with GPS job sites that clock teams in and out, plus attendance and payroll features. It is priced per seat and starts with a 14-day free trial without a credit card. It is aimed at field and remote staff, so it is more than a team of five desk workers needs.

Switch from Clockify if you manage field or remote staff and want location-based clocking.

Hubstaff, #13 of 16 in our time tracking ranking →

Replicon

United States · Quoted per organisation

Replicon is now sold as Deltek Replicon, positioned for project-based businesses that need time tracking, workforce management and labour compliance in one product. It sits in Deltek's project-business suite alongside ERP products, and it is a heavier purchase than a per-seat tracker.

Switch from Clockify if you are a larger project-based firm that needs time tracking tied to compliance and ERP.

When Clockify is still the right choice

Clockify remains the right choice for a team of up to 5 that wants unlimited tracking at no cost, and for larger teams that can live on the Basic or Standard tier. The $5.49 Standard price includes time off, invoicing and approvals, which many rivals reserve for dearer tiers. If you do not need single sign-on or a chosen data region, there is little reason to move.

05

What moving off Clockify involves

  1. 01

Export your entries before you cancel

Clockify's free plan limits report ranges to one month, so check what history you can actually pull. Export projects, clients and time entries as CSV or Excel while your plan still allows it, and keep a copy of rates, because most trackers import entries but not billing rates or approval states.

  2. 02

Rebuild projects and rates by hand

Import tools differ by product. Plan a clean-up of client and project lists before import, then re-enter hourly rates, approval rules and time-off policies in the new tool. Run both trackers side by side for one pay period, so that invoicing and payroll can be compared before you switch off the old one.

Questions about replacing Clockify

5 answers
Is there a free alternative to Clockify?

Yes. Jibble is free for unlimited users, TimeCamp has a free plan with unlimited users and projects, and Kimai is open source and can be self-hosted.

Toggl Track and My Hours also have free plans, but they limit users. Clockify's own free plan covers up to 5 users.

What does Clockify cost?

On annual billing: Basic $3.99, Standard $5.49, Pro $7.99 and Enterprise $11.99 per seat per month. Monthly billing costs more, for example $6.99 for Standard. The free plan covers up to 5 users. Prices are those shown on its pricing page when we checked.

Which Clockify alternative is best for a German company?

Clockodo is made by a German company and focuses on work time and absence tracking, at 4 euros per user per month for Basic. Clockify can also host data in Germany, but only on its Enterprise plan. Kimai can be hosted on your own servers.

Which alternative tracks time automatically?

Timely tracks time in the background across apps and websites and uses AI to categorise it. TimeCamp also offers automatic tracking with keywords. Both cost more than Clockify's free plan for larger teams.

Can I self-host a Clockify alternative?

Kimai is open source and can be run on your own server. TimeCamp mentions a self-hosted instance in its Enterprise offer. Neither matches Clockify's polish for non-technical users, and both leave you responsible for updates and backups.
