TickTick vs Todoist

TickTick caps the free tier by list size and sells one yearly Premium at US$49.99. Todoist caps it by project count and filters, and charges US$60 a year or US$7 a month for Pro. TickTick's legal home is unstated in its terms, where Todoist names Delaware.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

  1. 01

Which free tier runs out first, 9 lists or 5 projects?

TickTick's free tier allows 9 lists, 99 tasks per list and 2 reminders per task. Todoist's Beginner plan allows 5 personal projects, 3 filter views and one week of activity history. TickTick gives more containers and a hard ceiling on each; Todoist gives fewer containers with no task count on the pricing page we read.

A yearly fee against a monthly option

TickTick Premium costs US$49.99 per year, and its FAQ says data stays and you drop to the free tier if it lapses. Todoist Pro costs US$7 per month or US$60 per year. Over twelve months TickTick is about US$10 cheaper, while Todoist is the one that lets you pay for a single month.

  3. 03

Does the paid tier open a route to a team?

TickTick Premium raises sharing from 2 to 29 members per list, which suits a household or a small project. Todoist keeps team features on a separate Business plan: a shared workspace, up to 1,000 members, roles, permissions and central billing. If a team could grow past a few people, only Todoist lists a ladder to follow.

What you can take with you and where it is stored

Todoist exports any project to CSV on every plan, but its paid backups skip completed tasks. TickTick says a backup can be made manually on the web and that its servers sit with Amazon Web Services in the United States. Its terms name no country; Todoist Inc. is registered in Delaware.

03

When neither fits

If you want a single purchase instead of a subscription, look at Things or OmniFocus, which sell licences for Apple devices. Neither TickTick nor Todoist suits that buyer.
