Moz vs Majestic
Moz sells campaign-based SEO plans in US dollars, with tracked sites, keywords and AI visibility on each tier. Majestic sells a link index in euros and counts what you use in analysis units, not tracked sites. Moz is the wider toolkit, built around its own Domain Authority metric, while Majestic concentrates on backlink data and API access. The choice depends on whether you need to run client campaigns or mainly look up links in bulk.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.
you manage client sites as campaigns and want tracked keywords, crawled pages and AI prompt tracking in one plan. You also accept paying for additional user seats.
you mostly need backlink data and want a plan measured in analysis units, with API access on a higher tier. You are comfortable that keyword research and site audits are not what it sells.

Where they differ
Moz 2 · Majestic 2 · open 2- 01
What the first paid step costs
Moz lists Standard at $99 a month, or $79 a month when paid yearly, and mentions an entry-level plan at $49 a month for a single website. Majestic starts at Lite for 46.99 euros a month, or 39.16 euros a month on annual billing, excluding VAT. In plain amounts Majestic is cheaper at the start, though the two are priced in different currencies and sell different things.

Seats, sites and meters
Moz plans scale by campaign: Standard has 1 user and 3 tracked sites, Medium 2 users and 10 sites, Large 3 users and 25 sites. Majestic scales by units: Lite has 1 user and 1 million analysis units, Pro 20 million, and the API plan 5 users and 100 million. A team with many client sites suits Moz's model; a team running big link checks suits Majestic's.
Depends on the buyer
- 03
Keyword and crawl allowances
Moz states the numbers per plan: 300, 1,500 and 3,000 tracked keywords a month, and 400K, 2M and 5M pages crawled. Majestic's pages show no keyword tracking and no site crawl, since its plans are about link retrieval. Anyone who needs either has to look at Moz, or at a different tool alongside Majestic.

- 04
Backlink history and API reach
Majestic describes a Fresh Index of the latest 120 days of backlinks and a Historic Index going back to 2006. Pro has 5 million retrieval units; API access comes only with the API plan at 379.99 euros a month. Moz sells its API as a separate product, per the pack, and shows no link history length on its pricing page. For deep link archives Majestic is better documented.

AI visibility features
Moz lists an AI Visibility Dashboard on every plan (1 on Standard, 6 on Medium, 12 on Large), weekly prompt tracking across GPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode, and 150, 300 or 600 tracked prompts. It also includes 2, 10 or 50 AI content briefs a month. The Majestic pages we read mention none of these. This round goes to Moz because it publishes them.

Trials, refunds and where the company sits
Moz shows a Try it free link on the Medium card, with no free plan named. Majestic lists no free plan or trial, only a 7-day money-back guarantee for new Lite and Pro customers, and has free SEO tools. Majestic-12 Limited is registered in England with an office in Birmingham; the Moz pricing page states no parent or address, so we cannot compare locations.

When neither fits
If you need daily rank updates or want one tool that also covers audits and keywords at a lower cost, neither fits neatly. SISTRIX and Mangools are two other options in our SEO tools list.
Moz or Majestic: questions
3 answersDoes Majestic charge per user like Moz does?
Not in the same way. Majestic's plans are defined by analysis units, with Lite and Pro each for 1 user and the API plan for 5 users.
Moz lists extra seats at $49 a month in our data, on top of the users each plan includes.
Can either tool be tested without paying?
Moz shows a Try it free link on its Medium plan card, but names no free plan. Majestic lists no free plan or free trial on its pricing page. It does give a 7-day money-back guarantee to new Lite and Pro customers.
Which one tracks AI search answers?
Moz does, with an AI Visibility Dashboard and weekly tracking of prompts across GPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode. The Majestic pages we read do not mention AI visibility. Anyone who wants that feature should start with Moz.
