Bubble vs Adalo

Bubble and Adalo both let you build a mobile app without writing code, and each is a United States company, but they charge for different things. Bubble meters workload units each month and caps how many native builds you may submit, so a busy release schedule and an inefficient page both show up on the invoice. Adalo states that it has no usage-based charges and sells flat plans instead, though its entry plan allows one instant update a month and treats analytics and crash monitoring as add-ons. Bubble is the wider application platform, while Adalo is the narrower builder aimed at shipping a first native app.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

Bubble 2 · Adalo 2 · open 2
  1. 01

    Trying it before paying

Bubble's free plan gives 500 AI credits and 50K workload units a month, but it is development only: the pricing page says free-plan apps cannot go live. Adalo calls its free plan free forever and allows unlimited test apps, one free app build, 500 records per app, 5 Ada prompts a month and no credit card. Neither page offers a trial of a paid plan. Adalo's free tier lets you build and test with one app build included, so it wins this round narrowly.

  2. 02

    Entry plan and annual cost

Bubble's Starter is $32 per month billed annually, with 1,000 AI credits, 175K workload units, a live website and a custom domain. Adalo's Builder is $65 per month on monthly billing, $175.50 billed quarterly or $624 billed yearly, with custom domains and five app editors. Adalo also shows a launch offer of $30 for the first month for new Builders. Bubble is cheaper to start, but its figure sits on top of a workload meter that can grow.

    Edge: Bubble

  3. 03

    Release cadence on native builds

Bubble limits native mobile submissions: Starter allows 5 build submissions a month and 3 live app versions, Growth 10 and 5, Team 20 and 8, with unlimited over-the-air updates on all paid plans. Adalo's Builder allows 1 instant update a month and 2 published apps, while Business gives unlimited instant updates and 5 published apps. Bubble's over-the-air updates make frequent small fixes easier, so a team that ships weekly is better served there.

    Edge: Bubble

  4. 04

What the meter does to your bill

Bubble's pay-as-you-go workload overages can be turned off, and email notices arrive at 75% and 100% of your allowance. File storage is $3 per 100 GB per month. Because units are counted per use, a badly built page costs units on every visit. Adalo's page says 'No usage-based charges. No surprise fees. Just flat, predictable pricing', which is easier to budget for, even though Builder's analytics and crash monitoring are paid add-ons.

    Edge: Adalo

  5. 05

    Team size, editors and branches

Bubble's Growth gives 2 app editors and 14 days of server logs, and Team gives 5 editors, 25 custom branches, sub apps and scheduled deployments. Enterprise adds a choice of hosting location, SOC2 report and SSO. Adalo's Builder already includes 5 app editors and Business has 10, plus a Collections API and external databases. Adalo is the cheaper way to get several editors, while Bubble offers more tooling for controlled releases once a team is bigger.

  6. 06

    Leaving later

Bubble lets you export your data but not the application logic, so a rebuild is the only exit. Adalo's pricing page lists no source-code download, which we note rather than claim as a limit. Adalo Blue, its enterprise tier, mentions dedicated infrastructure and possible on-premise deployment, with no price listed. Bubble's pages mention hosting only for Enterprise. Neither is easy to leave, and the pages we read do not settle it.

When neither fits

If you want a store app that your own developers can take over as real code, neither fits well. FlutterFlow is the one to look at for that, and Glide is a lighter option for simple data-driven apps.

Bubble or Adalo: questions

3 answers
Does a Bubble app go live without paying?

No. The pricing page says a paid plan is needed to deploy a live version, and free-plan apps are development only. Starter at $32 per month billed annually is the first plan with a live website.

Which of the two charges extra when traffic grows?

Bubble does, through workload units, although overages can be switched off and notices go out at 75% and 100%. Adalo says it has no usage-based charges. Adalo's extra costs come from add-ons and the Apple and Google developer accounts instead.

What do I need to pay for before an Adalo app reaches the stores?

Publishing needs the Builder plan, an Apple Developer account at $99 a year and a Google Play Developer account at $25 one-time, per the pricing page FAQ. Builder is $65 per month on monthly billing. Analytics and crash monitoring cost extra on that plan.
