Workable alternatives are sought by teams that outgrow its headcount-banded pricing, by teams who want a cheaper or free applicant tracker once the paid add-ons are counted, and by employers who want more analytics or a stronger employer-brand layer. They move to lighter published-price tools such as Breezy HR, JOIN and Homerun, to collaboration-first or careers-site-first products such as Recruitee and Teamtailor, or to the structured-hiring and enterprise systems.
Short answer: The first three alternatives to Workable in our applicant tracking ranking are Tellent Recruitee, Teamtailor and Homerun. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose Tellent Recruitee if hiring managers and interviewers all score candidates and you accept a demo before you see a price. All 13 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Applicant Tracking System in 2026, and each says where it differs from Workable.

Why buyers look past Workable
01
The price follows your headcount, and add-ons come on top
Workable's pricing page lists three plans, each priced by company-size band. The Standard plan starts at $299 a month for 1 to 20 employees and the price steps up through nine bands to 1,000+. On Standard, texting is $89 a month, video interviews $109 and assessments $59 extra, and all three are included from Premier ($599 a month in the smallest band). A company that adds a few employees or a few add-ons sees the bill move without hiring more.
02
AI features are metered separately
The Workable Agent runs on AI credits. Each paid ATS plan includes 3,000, and a screening costs 1 credit, a sourced passive candidate 2 and a chat interaction 10. Extra credits are sold in packs from $0.12 down to $0.095 each, expire after a year and are not refundable. Teams that wanted a flat monthly figure find the usage-based layer harder to forecast, and the free trial does not include the Agent.
03
The platform is widening into HR
Workable now presents itself as a recruiting and HR platform, with a time-off, onboarding, e-signature and payroll-preparation module sold alongside the ATS. Buyers who only need applicant tracking are paying for a product that points elsewhere, and some prefer a vendor whose entire roadmap is hiring, or a plain tracker with no HR bundle.

What each one does differently

Tellent Recruitee
Netherlands · By quote after a demo; annual contract paid monthly; free trial
Tellent Recruitee sells two published plan tiers, Start with 5 active job posts and a larger tier with unlimited job posts, but both are priced through a demo rather than on the page. It adds shared candidate review, WhatsApp hiring and an HRIS link. It publishes no sourcing database comparable to Workable's 400M profiles.
Switch from Workable if hiring managers and interviewers all score candidates and you accept a demo before you see a price.
Teamtailor is a Swedish AB that prices per organisation and states that every account has unlimited job postings and users. It is built around the careers site and employer brand, not sourcing. Workable's headcount-banded plans and sourcing suite have no direct counterpart on its pricing page.
Switch from Workable if the careers page is your main source of applicants and you want every manager to have a login.
Homerun charges in euros by job slots, where a slot is one published vacancy, on an annual contract with a 15-day trial. Each slot bundles employer branding, applicant tracking, interview scheduling and structured hiring. Reporting and automation are lighter than Workable's, and there is no outbound sourcing database.
Switch from Workable if you run three to ten open roles at once and want a fixed price per slot.
United States · Free plan; paid monthly plans published; add-ons extra
Breezy HR offers a free Bootstrap plan with no expiry and unlimited users, though only one active position or pool at a time; the paid Startup plan is listed at $157 or $189 monthly depending on billing. It posts to 50+ boards and has EU data centres for EU and UK customers. SMS, onboarding and AI credits are extra.
Switch from Workable if you hire occasionally and want to test a tracker without paying.
Switzerland · Billed monthly per active job; 14-day trial; enterprise by quote
JOIN is a Swiss multiposting and tracking product priced per active job: Standard at €17 a month and Advanced at €34 a month, both billed annually, with unlimited user seats and a 14-day trial. It posts to 10+ free boards and sells 250+ paid boards as an add-on. Enterprise is quoted from 15 open roles.
Switch from Workable if vacancy volume is low to moderate and you want the price tied to open jobs, not headcount.
Germany · Entry plan published monthly; all-in-one plan by quote
softgarden publishes a Core plan from €199 a month and quotes its All-in-One plan individually. The suite includes multiposting, a career site, employee referrals and onboarding. It is a German vendor and the demo is booked through its sales team, so no self-serve trial is shown on the pricing page.
Switch from Workable if you hire mostly in German-speaking markets and want referrals and onboarding in the same suite.
United Kingdom · Quoted for each organisation; unlimited users
Pinpoint shows no prices and routes buyers through a Request pricing form. Its site lists plan approval workflows, hiring intake, an agency portal, anonymised screening and a talent pipeline CRM, with an MCP connection for AI tools. Unlike Workable, there is no price band to check before talking to sales.
Switch from Workable if approval workflows and an agency portal matter more than seeing a price up front.
United States · Foundations at $400 monthly for companies up to 100 staff; bigger plans priced by size and usage
Ashby publishes a single price, Foundations at $400 monthly for companies up to 100 employees, with 10% off for annual commitment. Plans for 101 to 1,000 employees and larger are quoted on size, usage and commitment. Sequences, sourcing projects and reporting are included, where Workable's reporting is adequate rather than analytical.
Switch from Workable if recruiters need multi-step outreach and funnel analytics and the company is funded.
United States · Yearly plans published; monthly billing costs more
JazzHR publishes three annual prices: Hero at $1,000 a year, Plus at $3,480 and Pro at $5,508. Standard pricing excludes agencies, franchises, multi-location businesses and organisations over 250 employees. Job posting is subject to eligibility and usage limits. Offers and eSignatures only arrive on Pro.
Switch from Workable if a small US employer wants a low annual price and fewer than 250 employees.
United States · Quote only; the figure follows team size and hiring volume
Lever is sold by Employ, which also sells JazzHR and Jobvite. Its pricing page offers a customised quote only. ATS and CRM sit in one product with unlimited AI interview transcripts and summaries in the core platform. Add-ons such as AI screening by VONQ are priced separately, and no figure is shown.
Switch from Workable if your recruiters nurture talent pools and want ATS and CRM as one record.
United States · Quote depends on the plan and how many hires you make
Greenhouse offers Core, Plus and Pro, each sold after a demo. Core includes structured interview kits and scorecards, Plus adds a Business Intelligence connector and texting, and Pro adds an audit log and developer sandbox. It publishes no prices and favours structured process over quick setup.
Switch from Workable if you want scorecards, auditability and reporting connectors and can budget through a sales process.
United States · Essential at $14,995 (listed); other plans on quote
SmartRecruiters describes itself as part of SAP SuccessFactors and lists an agency portal, dynamic scheduling, a sandbox and analytics on one platform. Its pricing page shows no figures. It is aimed at mid-size and enterprise hiring, which is a different scale from Workable's lowest 1 to 20 employee band.
Switch from Workable if you already run SAP SuccessFactors or hire across several business units.
United States · Quoted for each organisation; modules licensed separately
iCIMS describes its Hire product as a highly configurable enterprise ATS, with separate lines for text recruiting, onboarding, high-volume hiring, candidate engagement and career sites. It publishes no price and sells through demos. The scope is far beyond a 20-person company's needs.
Switch from Workable if you hire continuously at volume and need configuration depth over speed of setup.
Workable remains a sound choice when you want sourcing and tracking from one vendor and can predict your headcount. Its pricing page publishes every band, includes unlimited active jobs under fair usage, 200+ job boards and a 400M+ candidate profile database for passive sourcing, and a 15-day trial without a card. If you need the HR module as well, bundling recruiting and HR is advertised at up to 20% off. A switch only pays when the add-ons, the AI credits or the headcount band are what you are actually objecting to.

What moving off Workable involves
01
Export before the trial ends, and check what the new tool imports
Candidate records, notes, scorecards and offer letters are the data that matter. Ask the new vendor which of these its importer accepts and in which format, and keep a spreadsheet or archive copy of rejected candidates for the retention period your privacy policy states. Check your contract for the data-return terms before you cancel.
02
Rebuild the career page and job-board connections
Application forms, email templates, stage names and scorecards belong to the old system. Recreate them first, then repoint the career page link on your website and any job board feeds, so live vacancies do not collect applications in two places. Run both systems side by side on one low-stakes vacancy before closing the old account.
03
Re-price add-ons and AI usage in the new plan
Texting, video interviews, assessments and AI screening are priced differently everywhere. List the ones you use today and look up each in the new vendor's plan, because a cheaper base price can hide an add-on you rely on.

Questions about replacing Workable
6 answers
How much does Workable cost?
Workable's pricing page lists Standard from $299 a month, Premier from $599 and Enterprise from $719 a month for 1 to 20 employees, with higher prices for larger company bands.
Annual billing is advertised at a 20% saving. Texting, video interviews and assessments cost extra on Standard.
Is there a free alternative to Workable?
Breezy HR has a free-forever Bootstrap plan with unlimited users, limited to one active position or pool. JOIN has a 14-day trial rather than a free plan, and Homerun a 15-day trial. Workable itself offers a 15-day free trial with no credit card.
Which Workable alternative is cheapest per vacancy?
JOIN's published price is €17 a month per active job on the Standard plan billed annually, and €34 on Advanced. Homerun prices per job slot on its annual contract. Compare against the number of vacancies you keep open at once, not the yearly total.
What is a Workable alternative for a careers-page-first approach?
Teamtailor starts from the careers site and employer brand and quotes per organisation. Homerun puts employer branding next to tracking in every job slot. Neither includes the outbound sourcing Workable sells.
Do Workable's competitors publish their prices?
Some do. JazzHR, JOIN, Breezy HR, Ashby (Foundations only), Homerun and softgarden (entry plan) show figures. Teamtailor, Recruitee, Pinpoint, Lever, Greenhouse, SmartRecruiters and iCIMS route you to a quote or demo.
Which alternatives suit larger organisations?
Greenhouse, Lever, SmartRecruiters and iCIMS target larger or more complex hiring. Greenhouse and Lever each have their own alternatives page on this site if you are comparing the heavier tools.
