Jotform alternatives: 11 form builders compared

Jotform alternatives are sought by people who outgrew the free plan's limits, by teams that found every paid tier is single-user, and by buyers who want a form builder without the surrounding product suite. They move to tools with unlimited responses, per-workspace pricing or self-hosting.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Jotform in our form builder ranking are Tally, Fillout and Paperform. Choose Tally if you want unlimited responses on a free plan and shared workspaces cheaply. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Online Form Builders in 2026, and each says where it differs from Jotform.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

Jotform

#7 of 15 in our form builder ranking

  • Pricing: Free plan to 5 forms; monthly tiers by forms and submissions, published
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Organisations wanting one established vendor for forms, signatures and integrations
  • Not for: Buyers who want a bill driven by a single counter
01

Why buyers look past Jotform

  1. 01

    The free plan is small

Jotform's Starter plan allows 5 active forms, 100 submissions a month, 100 MB of storage and 500 stored submissions, with Jotform branding. A small project that collects a few hundred responses passes those limits quickly. Several alternatives list unlimited forms or unlimited responses on their free plans, within fair use.

  2. 02

Paid tiers are single-user until Enterprise

The pricing page describes Bronze, Silver and Gold as single-user plans, at $34, $39 and $99 a month on annual billing. Multi-user access, SSO and data residency belong to the Enterprise plan, which is quoted. A team that wants shared access to forms therefore moves from a small fixed fee to a conversation with sales.

  3. 03

    Limits step up in blocks

The plans are bounded by active forms and monthly submissions: 25 and 1,000 on Bronze, 50 and 2,500 on Silver, 100 and 10,000 on Gold. HIPAA-friendly capability starts at Gold. Teams that exceed one limit pay for the whole next tier, which is why flat-priced or usage-light competitors look attractive.

What each one does differently

Tally

Belgium · Free plan within fair-use limits; flat monthly plans, published

Tally lists unlimited forms and unlimited submissions on its free plan, within fair-use guidelines, including payments, signatures and file uploads. Pro costs €20 a month and removes branding, adds custom domains and unlimited team members. It is a form tool only, without Jotform's app builder or PDF products.

Switch from Jotform if you want unlimited responses on a free plan and shared workspaces cheaply.

Fillout

United States · Free plan to 1,000 responses a month; flat monthly tiers, published

Fillout prices one flat fee with unlimited seats, and its free plan has unlimited forms and 1,000 responses a month. It adds workflows, PDF generation and scheduling forms. It has a smaller product family than Jotform, and the paid tiers are Standard and Scale.

Switch from Jotform if you want a whole team on one flat fee and need workflows after submission.

Fillout, #2 of 15 in our form builder ranking →

Paperform

Australia · Free plan to 30 submissions a month; flat monthly tiers, published

Paperform has a free plan with unlimited forms under fair use, then Pro at $49 and Business at $124 a month billed annually. It is built around designed, document-like pages with payments, and has a sister signing product, Papersign. It is dearer than Jotform's entry tiers.

Switch from Jotform if design of the form page and payments matter more than price per tier.

Paperform, #5 of 15 in our form builder ranking →

Typeform

Spain · Free plan to 100 responses a month; monthly tiers by responses and users, published

Typeform shows one question at a time, and its Basic plan costs $28 a month on annual billing ($39 monthly) for 100 responses and 1 user. Limits are tied to responses, which makes it expensive at volume. It suits conversational surveys more than long operational forms.

Switch from Jotform if completion rate on short, conversational forms matters more than volume.

Typeform, #9 of 15 in our form builder ranking →

Cognito Forms

United States · Free plan for one user; monthly tiers by users and entries, published

Cognito Forms puts unlimited forms on every plan. Individual is free for one user with 100 entries a month, Pro costs $24 for 2 users and 2,000 entries, and Team $49 for 5 users, with extra users at $5. Pricing is by users and entries rather than form count.

Switch from Jotform if you have many forms with modest volume and want to add users cheaply.

forms.app

Estonia · Free plan to 5 forms; monthly tiers by form count and storage, published

forms.app has a free plan with unlimited responses, unlimited team members and up to 5 forms, plus e-signatures and payments. Basic costs $19 a month on yearly billing ($29 monthly). Its limits are form count and file storage, which is the reverse of Jotform's submission cap.

Switch from Jotform if your volume is high but your number of forms is low.

forms.app, #6 of 15 in our form builder ranking →

OpnForm

France · Free plan; flat monthly tiers, published; self-hosted licence per instance

OpnForm's core is open source under AGPLv3 and can be self-hosted for free, with a proprietary enterprise licence for extra features. The cloud service has a free plan with unlimited forms and submissions, Pro at $25 and Business at $67. Self-hosting means you run the infrastructure yourself.

Switch from Jotform if you want to host forms yourself or avoid per-submission limits.

OpnForm, #4 of 15 in our form builder ranking →

HeyForm

United States · Monthly tiers by responses and team size, published; 7-day trial

HeyForm sells monthly tiers by responses and team size: Basic $15 for 5,000 responses, Premium $24 for 20,000 and 3 members, Business $40 for 150,000 and 10 members, billed annually, with a 7-day trial. Forms, questions and views are unlimited on all of them.

Switch from Jotform if you expect high response volume and want a low price per response.

HeyForm, #8 of 15 in our form builder ranking →

Formsite

United States · Free plan to 5 forms; monthly tiers by forms and results per form, published

Formsite offers a 14-day trial and a free plan of 5 forms with 10 results per form. Paid plans run from $21 to $209 a month, bounded by forms, results per form and sub-users. It is an older, form-count-based model closer to Jotform's own than the newer flat-price tools.

Switch from Jotform if you want a conventional tiered builder with sub-users on the upper plans.

Formsite, #10 of 15 in our form builder ranking →

Formstack

United States · Monthly per product, published; 14-day trial

Formstack Forms starts at $83 a month on annual billing ($99 monthly) for 1 builder user, 25 forms and 1,000 submissions per form, with a 14-day trial. HIPAA is a paid add-on. It targets organisations with workflow and Salesforce needs, and costs more than Jotform's mid tiers.

Switch from Jotform if you are an organisation that needs governed workflows and will pay for them.

Formstack, #13 of 15 in our form builder ranking →

Google Forms

United States · Included in Google Workspace, per user per month, published; 14-day trial

Google Forms is included in Google Workspace plans. It covers quizzes, branching logic and automatic charts, and exports responses to Google Sheets. It has no payment or app-building features and little styling control, but there is no separate subscription for Workspace customers.

Switch from Jotform if you already pay for Google Workspace and your forms are simple.

04

When Jotform is still the right choice

Jotform remains a sound choice when one vendor should cover forms, e-signature, PDF editing, tables and apps, and when the breadth of templates matters. Its Gold plan adds HIPAA-friendly capability, and Enterprise adds SSO and data residency. If you use several of those products together, switching to a pure form tool will mean buying the rest elsewhere.

05

What moving off Jotform involves

  1. 01

    Forms need rebuilding

Jotform forms do not import into other builders, so each form is rebuilt by hand. Start with the ten forms that collect most responses, and retire the rest instead of copying them.

  2. 02

    Export submissions before you cancel

Download submissions and uploaded files while the plan is active. The free plan stores only 500 submissions in total, and lower plans are bounded by storage, so check what you hold before downgrading.

  3. 03

    Rewire integrations and embeds

Every embed code and every automation that points at a Jotform form must be replaced. List the pages and workflows that use each form, switch them one at a time, and test a submission end to end.
