Jasper alternatives: 11 AI writing tools compared

Teams usually start looking beyond Jasper when the per-seat price meets the Pro ceilings, or when what they write is not marketing copy at all. The options below cover self-funded editors, fiction and academic tools, cheap short-form generators and two larger go-to-market platforms.

Short answer: The first three alternatives to Jasper in our AI writing tool ranking are ProWritingAid, Novelcrafter and Rytr. Our rule for order: vendors outside the big brands go first, and the largest names are not placed in the top three. Choose ProWritingAid if you already write the copy and want an editor you can buy once. Every one of the 11 products below comes from Best AI Writing Tools in 2026, with a note on how it departs from Jasper.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

01

Why buyers look past Jasper

  1. 01

Pro is priced per seat and stops early

Jasper's pricing page lists Pro at $69 per seat per month, or $59 on annual billing with a 12-month commitment. It includes one seat, two Brand Voices, three Audiences and five knowledge assets. The page says more than one user on Pro means contacting sales, so a three-person team is pushed towards a quote almost at once.

  2. 02

The larger controls sit behind a quote

API access, the no-code builder for custom agents, Jasper Grid, unlimited Brand Voices and SSO with role-based permissions are all listed under Business, which has no published amount and a 12-month minimum. Anyone who needs one of those for a single workflow has to buy the whole tier.

  3. 03

Hosting and payment options are narrow

Jasper's security page says the application runs on Google Cloud in the US-East1 and US-East4 regions, and it did not say whether customer content is used for model training, pointing to the privacy policy instead. The pricing page takes cards only, in USD. Buyers who need an EU region or invoice-style payment should ask before signing.

What each one does differently

ProWritingAid

United Kingdom · Published

ProWritingAid is run by Orpheus Technology, which says it has taken no venture money. Paid plans are in euros: Premium at €10 a month on yearly billing (€120), Premium Pro at €12 (€144), with lifetime licences at €399 and €699. The free plan allows ten rephrases a day. It improves a draft you wrote rather than producing one.

Switch from Jasper if you already write the copy and want an editor you can buy once.

Novelcrafter

Germany · Published

Novelcrafter is a fiction workspace from Germany. Scribe costs $4 a month and has no AI; Hobbyist at $8 adds bring-your-own-key access, so the model provider bills you separately. Its Codex holds characters and places, and a 21-day trial unlocks everything without a card. Nothing in it is aimed at ad copy or campaigns.

Switch from Jasper if your writing is a novel and you want to pay a model provider directly.

Rytr

United States · Published

Rytr sells short-form generation at the cheap end: Lite is $9 a month, Personal $19 and Pro $49, all with unlimited characters, and yearly billing takes 20% off. The free plan stops at 10,000 characters a month. All plans list 30-plus languages. There are no brand voice libraries or seat management comparable to Jasper's.

Switch from Jasper if you need captions, meta titles and emails at a few dollars a month.

Sudowrite

Not stated by the vendor · Published

Sudowrite meters work in credits rather than seats: Hobby and Student is $10 a month for 225,000 credits, Professional $22, Max $44 for 2,000,000. Only Max carries unused credits over, for twelve months. It targets novelists and screenwriters with its own fiction models. The vendor's pages name no company address, so we cannot state a country.

Switch from Jasper if you draft fiction and would rather buy a credit pool than a seat.

Squibler

United States · Published

Squibler generates entire books and screenplays from an idea. Free gives 1,000 AI credits a month, Plus is $29.99 list ($15.83 monthly on annual billing) for 10,000 credits and 200 to 300 page manuscripts, and Pro at $89.99 list has no credit cap. It is a long-form tool; none of its listed features concern brand voice or marketing agents.

Switch from Jasper if you want a full manuscript draft and a free tier to test it.

Anyword

United States · Published

Anyword scores each draft with a predicted performance number. Starter is $49 a month ($39 yearly) for one seat and one brand voice; Data-Driven is $99 ($79 yearly) for three seats, extra seats $59 up to ten. Business and Enterprise are quoted. The pricing page contradicts itself on voice and prediction counts, so confirm the numbers in a trial.

Switch from Jasper if you run paid campaigns and want copy ranked before you publish.

Jenni AI

United States · Published

Switch from Jasper if the writing is a thesis, report or paper that needs sources.

LanguageTool

Germany · Published

LanguageTool began as open-source software and its core engine is published under the LGPL, so a server can be self-run. Hamburg runs the product but Learneo, Inc. owns it. Free text fields are capped at 2,000 characters and 3 paraphrases a day; Premium raises that to 150,000 characters with unlimited paraphrasing and checks in seven languages.

Switch from Jasper if you write in Dutch, German or French and need correction rather than generation.

Basic is free with 10 rewrites a day and 3 summaries a month; Advanced is $4.89 a month on annual billing, Unlimited $6.99 with no quotas. Which alternative for which situation

  1. 01

    You write novels, not campaigns

Novelcrafter: Hobbyist is $8 a month with bring-your-own-key AI, and the 21-day trial needs no card.

  2. 02

You want a one-off licence for an editor

ProWritingAid: Lifetime licences cost €399 or €699, and the vendor says it has taken no venture money.

  3. 03

You need cheap short copy in volume

Rytr: Paid plans from $9 a month have no character cap, and the free plan allows 10,000 characters.

  4. 04

You want your copy scored before launch

Anyword: Data-Driven is $99 a month for three seats, with a predicted performance score on each draft.

  5. 05

You write in several European languages

LanguageTool: Premium adds extra checks in seven languages and its core engine is open source.

04

When Jasper is still the right choice

Jasper remains sensible for a marketing team that wants one place for Brand Voices, a knowledge library and more than 100 agents, in over 30 languages, with an image tool and a browser extension in the same plan. The security page lists SOC 2, GDPR and PCI DSS, and Business adds SSO, an in-app audit log and groups. If US hosting is acceptable and you stay within two voices, Pro does what it says.

05

What moving off Jasper involves

  1. 01

Rebuild the voice before you cancel

Brand Voices and knowledge assets live inside Jasper. Export the samples and style notes you fed it while the account is active, because access ends with the billing cycle. Pro allows cancelling at any time, and monthly billing can be paused for 30 days.

  2. 02

    Check the annual commitment

Annual Pro is a 12-month commitment, and Business has a 12-month minimum. Look at your renewal date first so a trial of a replacement runs before it, not after.

Questions about replacing Jasper

6 answers
What does Jasper Pro cost?

The pricing page lists $69 per seat per month on monthly billing and $59 on annual billing, with a 12-month commitment for the annual rate. Prices are in USD and cards are the only payment method accepted.

Does Jasper offer a free plan?

The pricing page shows a 7-day free trial for Pro and no free plan. A nonprofit discount of 20% is available, requested by starting a trial and emailing Jasper.

Which Jasper alternatives are cheapest?

On the pages we read, Rytr starts at $9 a month for unlimited characters, Wordtune Unlimited is $6.99 a month on annual billing, and ProWritingAid Premium is €10 a month billed yearly. Rytr, Wordtune and ProWritingAid also have free plans.

Which options suit teams?

Anyword Data-Driven covers three seats at $99 a month, Copy.ai Chat covers five seats at $29, and Writer Starter allows up to five users. Jasper Pro, by contrast, includes one seat.

Can I pay once instead of subscribing?

ProWritingAid sells lifetime licences at €399 for Premium and €699 for Premium Pro. Treat that as tied to the product's lifetime. None of the other tools here list a one-time payment on the pages we read.

Is there an alternative with an open-source core?

LanguageTool publishes its core under the LGPL, so you can run your own server. It checks and paraphrases text; it does not generate campaign copy.
