Shops look for a Clerk.io alternative when they want a price they can read before talking to anyone, when they only need recommendations and not five products, or when they want a vendor in their own country. Options run from usage-metered APIs to flat Shopify apps and quoted commerce suites.
Short answer: Recombee, Tweakwise and Luigi's Box head the list of Clerk.io alternatives drawn from our product recommendation engines ranking. Ranking order favours the challenger over the household name, so the best-known vendors begin at place 4 where the category allows it. Recombee is the one to try if you want published tiers and developers who can wire in an API. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Product Recommendation Engines in 2026, and each says where it differs from Clerk.io.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.
Pricing: Usage-based per product with quotes on request; trial button on the site
Established in: Denmark
Built for: Shops adding recommendations first and email or search later, paying per usage
Not for: Anyone needing a fixed monthly figure before talking to a salesperson
01
Why buyers look past Clerk.io
01
The price is not visible until sales replies
Clerk.io's pricing page shows a calculator for Search, Recommendations, Chat, Audience and Email, but every price reads zero euros on the page we fetched and each top tier says contact us for a quote. A shop cannot budget a real mix of products from the page alone, and the trial link states no length.
02
Usage can move you up a tier
The page says that if usage over a three-month average exceeds your tier, Clerk may upgrade the tier or invoice the extra usage under its terms, with changes starting the following month. Seasonal shops with a strong peak should model that rule before signing.
03
Extra work is billed by the hour
There is no one-off implementation fee, but assistance such as non-standard designs or additional domains is billed at 99 euros per hour as a Clerk.io Workday. Shops running several storefronts or a heavily customised theme should ask how many hours to expect.
turnover is large enough to qualify and you want a wide merchandising toolkit

Recombee, s.r.o. in Prague meters four things: interactions, recommendation requests, active users and catalogue items. Its paid tiers are listed by month, and once the 30-day unlimited trial ends you can drop to a free plan. The admin UI, API reference and plugins suggest developer time for set-up, which a Clerk.io store may not have spare.
Switch from Clerk.io if you want published tiers and developers who can wire in an API.
Tweakwise is a Dutch company from Zwolle whose free Basic tier covers drag-and-drop merchandising and product pins. Recommendations share the home page with search and guided selling. Basic limits you to three A/B tests and three Boost & Bury rules a year, and AI personalisation arrives only on Expert.
Switch from Clerk.io if merchandising control matters as much as recommendations and a free tier helps.
Luigi's Box, s.r.o. in Bratislava puts a Recommender next to Search, Product Listing and a Shopping Assistant. Two plans, Growth and Enterprise, differ in how much integration work the vendor's team does, and extra domains add nothing to the bill. Both are quoted, so a pilot cost needs a conversation.
Switch from Clerk.io if you run several domains and want them covered under one plan.
Barilliance Ltd. is headquartered in Israel with offices in the United States, Australia and Spain. Billing is monthly with no lock-in, and each plan includes personal onboarding and dedicated technical support from people. An entry price covers onsite personalisation and recommendations, while larger plans follow traffic or annual sales.
Switch from Clerk.io if you want month-to-month terms and a named human for support.
Segmentify sells three plans: Growth Solution, Search and Discovery, and Cross-Channel Marketing. A 14-day trial is offered, said to start within five days, while prices go through a sales manager. Its site describes asynchronous JavaScript meant to keep pages quick, though we saw no speed figures to back it.
Switch from Clerk.io if a short trial and an async script appeal and you accept a quote.
Retail Rocket publishes no prices, and its Spanish-language page invites a tailored proposal. The range runs past recommendations into search, loyalty, promotions, retail media and a customer data platform. The privacy policy names Retail Rocket Group, Loadstone Group as controller, but no country of establishment is given.
Switch from Clerk.io if you want retail media and loyalty from the same vendor as recommendations.
LimeSpot Solutions Inc. runs a single Shopify plan, Max, at a flat monthly price with every feature included and set-up customisation done for you. A 15-day trial and a lifetime discount offer appear on the pricing page. The listed price stops at a revenue ceiling per 30 days, so bigger shops outgrow it.
Switch from Clerk.io if you sell on Shopify and want one price with the work done for you.
Rebuy prices by the average monthly Shopify orders in bands from 250 to 50,000, with modules for cart, checkout, search and automated flows bought one at a time. An opt-in Monetize module costs nothing and pays the merchant per transaction. Every page we read addresses Shopify stores only.
Switch from Clerk.io if your Shopify order count is modest and you want cart-level upsells first.
Boost calls itself a Shopify search app and lists filters, merchandising, personalisation and recommendations beside AI search. Its terms say AppHub, LLC owns it, run by international affiliates. A 21-day trial is offered. Plan amounts were not shown on the pages we read, and recommendations are one feature among many.
Switch from Clerk.io if you want a longer trial and search improved at the same time.
Algolia offers Recommend models: frequently bought together, looking similar, related items and trending items, fed by click and conversion events. Grow and Grow Plus include 10,000 Recommend requests before usage billing, and a free plan exists. Recommend sits in a search platform with several meters, and Elevate is contract-priced.
Switch from Clerk.io if your developers want event-fed models through an API and a free start.
Nosto lists product recommendations, post-purchase upsell, dynamic bundles, personalised emails, search and A/B testing. The quote depends on turnover, traffic, modules and support level, with no tiers shown. Qualified merchants get a structured proof of concept in place of a self-service trial, which may screen out small stores.
Switch from Clerk.io if turnover is large enough to qualify and you want a wide merchandising toolkit.
Recombee: Paid tiers are published by month, and after the 30-day trial you can fall back to a free plan.
02
You run a Dutch or Benelux shop and want free merchandising
Tweakwise: The Basic tier is free with drag-and-drop merchandising, limited to three A/B tests a year.
03
You sell on Shopify and want a single flat price
LimeSpot: The Max plan is one flat monthly price with all features and a 15-day trial, up to a revenue ceiling.
04
You want month-to-month terms and a human for support
Barilliance: Billing is monthly without a lock-in and each plan includes personal onboarding and technical support.
05
Your developers want event-fed models and a free start
Algolia: Recommend models cover bought-together and trending items, with 10,000 requests included in Grow.
04
When Clerk.io is still the right choice
Clerk.io stays sensible when you want recommendations, search, email and audiences fed from one store connection. Its pages list connectors for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, Shopware, PrestaShop and more, plus Klaviyo, Mailchimp and Brevo on the email side, and an open API for custom platforms. Because you add products as needed, a shop that uses several of them gains from a single vendor.

What moving off Clerk.io involves
01
Recommendation placements need rebuilding
Each widget on product, cart and email templates calls Clerk's code, so every placement must be replaced on the new service. List the slots you use today, then compare click-through on each after the switch.
02
Email and audience flows tie in
Clerk's email recommendations and audience syncs to Google Ads and Facebook run off its own data. If you use them, plan how segments and email blocks will be rebuilt before you cancel, and check your contract period, which can be monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly.

Questions about replacing Clerk.io
6 answers
How is Clerk.io priced?
Each product has its own usage calculator: Recommendations counts monthly recommendations from 100,000 up to 10,000,000, with the top step quoted. The page we fetched showed zero euros as placeholders, so real figures come from Clerk.io.
How long is the Clerk.io contract?
The pricing page lists monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly periods and says longer commitments may earn discounts. Price changes come with prior notification.
Is there a free recommendation tool to try instead?
Recombee offers a free plan after a 30-day trial, Tweakwise has a free Basic tier and Algolia has a free plan. Limits differ, so read each page before relying on one.
Which alternatives suit Shopify only?
LimeSpot, Rebuy and Boost Commerce describe themselves as Shopify apps. Clerk.io lists many more platforms, so a WooCommerce or Magento shop should look at Recombee, Tweakwise or Luigi's Box instead.
Which alternatives are from Europe?
Recombee is Czech, Tweakwise Dutch and Luigi's Box Slovak, and Barilliance is Israeli with a Spanish office. Several others do not state a country on their sites.
Do the alternatives publish prices?
Recombee, Tweakwise, LimeSpot and Rebuy publish amounts; Luigi's Box, Segmentify, Nosto and Retail Rocket route you to sales. Algolia publishes a metered free and Grow structure.
