AnyDesk alternatives: 13 remote desktop tools compared

People look for an AnyDesk alternative when the per-connection bill grows with the team, when annual-only billing is a problem, or when they want to host the server themselves without an Ultimate quote. Most move to another commercial tool with a different licence unit, or to software they run on their own server.

Short answer: The first three alternatives to AnyDesk in our remote desktop software ranking are TeamViewer, RemotePC and Splashtop. Smaller vendors fill the top three places where the category offers them, and the household names start at place 4. Choose TeamViewer if you want the vendor your customers most often already have installed. Every one of the 13 products below comes from Best Remote Desktop Software in 2026, with a note on how it departs from AnyDesk.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

AnyDesk

#14 of 15 in our remote desktop software ranking

  • Pricing: Annual billing per concurrent connection, published for Solo, Standard and Advanced; Ultimate quoted; free for personal use; business trial
  • Established in: Germany
  • Built for: Support desks and small IT teams that count simultaneous sessions rather than named technicians
  • Not for: Buyers who need monthly billing or a published price for self-hosting
01

Why buyers look past AnyDesk

  1. 01

Every extra connection is another monthly fee

AnyDesk sells by concurrent connection. Standard starts with 1 connection at EUR 49.90 per month list price and scales to 20 with add-ons at EUR 44.90 each per month; Advanced starts with 2 and scales to 50. A support desk where many technicians work at once pays for each simultaneous seat, so the cost follows peak parallel sessions rather than headcount.

  2. 02

Annual billing only, and hosting yourself needs a quote

The pricing page states that all plans are billed yearly. The Ultimate plan, the one that lists on-premises hosting and single sign-on, shows no price and asks you to contact sales for a personalised quote. A team that wants its own server or SSO cannot compare a figure first.

  3. 03

The cheapest plan is capped at one connection

Solo, at EUR 29.90 per month list price billed annually, includes 1 connection that cannot be scaled and 3 registered devices to connect from. Anyone who outgrows one person has to jump to Standard, so a two-person office pays the Standard rate or looks at tools with per-computer or per-user pricing.

What each one does differently

TeamViewer

Germany · See profile

The nearest commercial rival. Its pricing FAQ describes annual subscriptions that renew for 12 months unless you cancel at least 28 days before the term ends, and it sells Business, Premium and Corporate licences. We could not read prices on the page we fetched, so compare the figure yourself. It is a wider platform than AnyDesk.

When AnyDesk is still the right choice

AnyDesk stays sensible for a small support team that counts simultaneous sessions rather than named staff, since only the person starting a session needs a licence and participants are free. Standard already lists file transfer, session recording and user management, and Advanced adds a command-line interface, MSI mass deployment and Windows Group Policy. The vendor states it is AnyDesk Software GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany, and offers a self-managed on-premises solution on Ultimate. The trade-off is the annual contract.

05

What moving off AnyDesk involves

  1. 01

Count your peak simultaneous sessions first

AnyDesk's bill depends on how many sessions run at once. Before you compare, measure your peak parallel sessions and the number of unattended devices. A tool billed per computer, per user or per technician can come out higher or lower depending on those two numbers, so work it out for your own case.

  2. 02

Plan the agent rollout and the contract end

Each managed machine runs an AnyDesk client that has to be replaced by the new tool's agent, which is a deployment job sized by your device count. The pricing page says subscriptions renew automatically unless the vendor is told beforehand, so find your renewal date and notice rules before you buy anything else.

  3. 03

Check commercial-use terms of cheaper options

Some free or low-priced plans are not licensed for work. Parsec's Personal and Warp plans are for personal, non-commercial use only, and AnyDesk's own FAQ says professional users need a licence. Confirm that the plan you pick covers business use.

Questions about replacing AnyDesk

6 answers
What does AnyDesk cost?

On its pricing page, Solo is EUR 29.90 per month list price, Standard EUR 49.90 per month for 1 connection and Advanced EUR 111.90 per month for 2 connections, all billed annually and excluding VAT.

A 20% first-year discount was displayed when we checked. Ultimate is quoted.

Is AnyDesk free?

The FAQ says it is free for personal use with a limited feature set, and that professional users need a licence. The plan cards offer a business trial. Business use of the free version is therefore not covered.

Can I host AnyDesk myself?

Only on Ultimate. The vendor describes an on-premises solution that is self-hosted and self-managed by your IT team, with data staying inside your network. Ultimate has no published price. RustDesk, Getscreen, ISL Online and Apache Guacamole also offer self-hosting.

Which alternative uses the same licence unit?

ConnectWise ScreenConnect counts concurrent technicians, at USD 47 or 57 per month billed annually on Standard and Premium. Zoho Assist counts concurrent sessions per technician, and ISL Online counts concurrent users on its cloud licences.

Do I need a licence for the person being helped?

No. AnyDesk's FAQ says only the person who starts the session needs a licence; participants join free. Check this rule when comparing, because other tools count users or computers instead.

Where is AnyDesk based?

The imprint names AnyDesk Software GmbH at Türlenstraße 2, 70191 Stuttgart, Germany. We state the country as a fact; it does not affect our ranking.
