ConnectWise Automate alternatives: 11 RMM tools compared

The people searching for an Automate alternative are mostly MSPs that built their stack around scripting and policies and now want less to maintain, a published price, or a fleet that is not only Windows. They move to a cloud RMM that ships with prebuilt monitors, to a per-technician or per-device plan they can read on a web page, or in a few cases to a self-hosted tool they control.

Short answer: Looking for a replacement for ConnectWise Automate? NinjaOne, Syncro and SuperOps come first in our RMM software ranking. Ranking order favours the challenger over the household name, so the best-known vendors begin at place 4 where the category allows it. Start with NinjaOne if you want the closest mainstream cloud replacement and can accept a quote for the final rate. Below are 11 alternatives, each taken from the Best RMM Software in 2026 ranking, with its main difference from ConnectWise Automate.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

ConnectWise Automate

#10 of 12 in our RMM software ranking

  • Pricing: Price on request; trial offered
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Established MSPs with scripting skills wanting fine-grained automation and policy control
  • Not for: New providers wanting to start within a week

Why buyers look past ConnectWise Automate

  1. 01

Depth that has to be built before it pays back

Automate's own page sells granular policies, roles, workflows and a custom script library, and it points buyers who want more out-of-the-box capability to a separate product, ConnectWise RMM. Read plainly, that says the Automate library is something your team writes and keeps current. A provider with one engineer to spare for it tends to feel the cost first.

  2. 02

    Windows first, other systems second

In its FAQ ConnectWise states that Automate primarily supports Windows endpoints, and the patching section describes keeping the Windows OS current. A client base that has added Macs and Linux servers will find that a thin spot, because several rivals list macOS and Linux for patching and remote control on their own pages.

  3. 03

    No price to compare against

Both the Automate page and the ConnectWise navigation lead to request-pricing forms, so a budget starts with a sales conversation. Several alternatives publish a per-device, per-technician or per-user rate (Level, Syncro, Gorelo, ITarian), which makes a side-by-side spreadsheet possible before anyone books a call.

What each one does differently

NinjaOne

United States · On request

A cloud-only endpoint platform billed per device, and the pricing page says tiers run from $3.75 at 50 or fewer endpoints down to $1.50 at 10,000, with the full rate card only on quote. Its RMM page lists Windows, macOS and Linux patching and over 200 third-party applications. Backup, MDM and security are listed as separate products, which adds line items.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you want the closest mainstream cloud replacement and can accept a quote for the final rate.

Syncro

United States · Published

RMM and PSA in one subscription, priced per technician instead of per device: Core at $129 and Team at $179 per user per month on the annual plan, with unlimited endpoints. A fleet of any size costs the same, but every extra technician adds a seat. Its RMM list names Windows, Mac, servers and network devices, and the Windows patching section is the detailed one.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if your fleet is large, your team is small, and you also want ticketing and invoicing from one vendor.

Where Syncro stands: place 2 of 12 in the RMM software ranking →

SuperOps

United States · On request

Billed per endpoint with unlimited technicians, which reverses the Syncro logic. It bundles a service desk, projects and an AI assistant, and lists Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android devices. Rates are quoted, every plan carries a 150-endpoint minimum, and mobile management only arrives with the Prime Plus plan.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you have several technicians, over 150 endpoints, and want a service desk bundled rather than a separate PSA.

SuperOps holds rank 6 among 12 entries in our RMM software guide →

Level

United States · Published

One RMM product with one posted rate, $2 per device per month, the first 10 devices free and no annual commitment. Remote control runs in the browser, and patching covers Windows via WinGet, Macs via Homebrew and Linux package managers. Its feature list shows no ticketing or billing, so a PSA stays a separate purchase.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you already own a PSA and want a plain per-device RMM you can cancel monthly.

Datto RMM

United States · On request

A fully cloud-hosted RMM owned by Kaseya, with a native Microsoft 365 user module and a link to Autotask PSA. The page calls it 100% cloud-based, so there is no on-premises option, and it shows no price, only demo and pricing requests. Kaseya's own notice names it the main migration target for VSA 9, so it is where that vendor is concentrating its RMM work.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you want a cloud RMM with Microsoft 365 user management and are comfortable with a Kaseya-owned stack.

Where Datto RMM stands: place 11 of 12 in the RMM software ranking →

Tactical RMM

United States · Published

Source-available and run on your own server, with published tiers: Starter at $600 per year for up to 199 endpoints self-hosted, and a hosted version from $65 per month for up to 100 endpoints. Technicians are unlimited. The licence is not open source, the Linux agent is labelled beta in the docs, and you take on updates, backups and certificates yourself.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you have scripting skills, want to host the server and have no wish to pay per device to a vendor.

Gorelo

Not stated by the vendor · Published

A newer all-in-one built for MSPs, with PSA, RMM, documentation and billing for $99 per user per month on the Full Platform plan, or $59 for PSA only and $39 for co-managed seats. Its about page dates the launch to May 2025, and it states that the company is MSP-owned. The short history means a short track record.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you want to retire the PSA, documentation tool and RMM together and accept a young product.

Gorelo, #4 of 12 in our RMM software ranking →

ManageEngine Endpoint Central

India · Published

An endpoint management suite with four editions from $1.32 to $2.82 per endpoint per month, a free edition for 25 endpoints, and a choice of cloud or on-premises deployment. It covers Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS and mobile systems. The page sells editions by endpoint count, not by managed client, and shows no PSA.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you manage your own company's fleet, not a client base, and want cheap per-endpoint pricing with a free tier.

ManageEngine Endpoint Central, #9 of 12 in our RMM software ranking →

ITarian

United States · Published

Postpaid billing per active endpoint, listed by product: device management and mobile management at $2.39, client security at $8.49. The platform is described as powered by Xcitium and has separate US and EU platforms. Because each product is priced alone, the total depends on how many of them you add.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you want to pay in arrears for active endpoints only, with no contract, and may add security later.

Where ITarian stands: place 8 of 12 in the RMM software ranking →

Kaseya VSA

United States · On request

Kaseya's older RMM line. Its product page now redirects to the Datto RMM page, and a notice on its help site says VSA 9 reaches end of life on 31 August 2027, with customers moved to Datto RMM or VSA 10. Any new purchase would be VSA 10 or Datto RMM, and pricing is not published.

Switch from ConnectWise Automate if you already run VSA and need to know your migration route, not for a fresh start.

When ConnectWise Automate is still the right choice

Stay on Automate if your team already maintains a large script and monitor library, your clients are mostly Windows, and you want the option to host the server yourself, which ConnectWise lists as on-premises or cloud. The cost of leaving is rebuilding that library, and most alternatives here have shallower scripting. If it is the time-to-value that bothers you, ConnectWise's own answer is ConnectWise RMM, a cloud-native product with prebuilt alerts and scripts, and testing it costs less than a full migration.

05

What moving off ConnectWise Automate involves

  1. 01

Count what has to be rebuilt

List the scripts, monitors, patch policies and dataviews that clients depend on, and mark which are Windows-only. Anything built on Automate-specific constructs has to be rewritten, whereas plain PowerShell usually moves. Tools with a script library or AI script drafting (SuperOps, Level, NinjaOne) shorten the rewrite.

  2. 02

Run both for one client group first

Agent deployment, remote-access integration and PSA sync are what break in practice. Move one small client, keep Automate on the rest, and compare alert noise for a month. Check that your PSA connects before you commit: Syncro and Naverisk include theirs, Level and Tactical RMM rely on external ones.

  3. 03

    Mind the contract end date

Because Automate is priced on request, your contract terms are in your own agreement. Read the notice period before you start migrating, and ask your new vendor about a buyout, since Syncro states on its site that it will buy out existing contracts for switchers.

Questions about replacing ConnectWise Automate

7 answers
Is ConnectWise Automate the same as ConnectWise RMM?

No. ConnectWise states that they are separate tools. Automate allows deeper manual customisation and can be hosted on-premises or in the cloud, while ConnectWise RMM is a cloud-native product built on the Asio platform with prebuilt monitoring.

Does Automate support Macs and Linux?

ConnectWise says Automate primarily supports Windows endpoints. If macOS and Linux management matters, check the alternatives that list those systems for patching and remote access, such as Level, NinjaOne, Naverisk and ManageEngine.

Which alternatives publish a price?

Level ($2 per device), Syncro ($129 or $179 per technician), Gorelo ($39 to $99 per user), ITarian (per product per endpoint), Naverisk (from $110 per month), ManageEngine (from $1.32 per endpoint) and Tactical RMM (tiers by endpoint count).

NinjaOne gives only a range, and SuperOps, Datto RMM and Kaseya VSA require a request.

Can I keep hosting the server myself?

Only a few can. Naverisk, ManageEngine Endpoint Central and Tactical RMM offer a self-installed option. On the pages we read, Level, NinjaOne, Syncro, SuperOps, Gorelo and Datto RMM present themselves as hosted services and mention no self-installed option.

Is Kaseya VSA still a real option?

Treat it with care. Kaseya's product page for VSA redirects to Datto RMM, and its help site announces that VSA 9 ends on 31 August 2027.

VSA 10 is named as an alternate path, so existing VSA customers have a route, but Datto RMM is the vendor's stated main target.

Do I need a separate PSA?

With Level and Tactical RMM the pages show no ticketing, and Datto RMM links to Autotask PSA, so plan for a PSA purchase. Syncro, SuperOps, Naverisk and Gorelo include ticketing in the same subscription.

How big does a fleet need to be?

Some plans set floors. SuperOps requires 150 endpoints per plan, ManageEngine's paid tiers start at 50, and Level gives the first 10 devices free. Per-technician pricing at Syncro suits a large fleet with few staff, whereas per-device pricing suits the opposite.
