Mural vs Miro

Both are per-member whiteboards with a free plan limited to three editable boards, and both are American. Miro is the larger product, with more than 7,000 templates and a wide set of paid features. Mural is narrower and built for facilitated workshops, and it separates one-time visitors from ongoing guests in a way that decides who pays.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

Where they differ

Mural 2 · Miro 2 · open 1
  1. 01

    The free plan

Both free plans allow three editable boards. Mural's page adds unlimited members and visitors, with open rooms only and no private rooms. Miro's page lists low-resolution export and no guest or visitor access. For a one-off workshop with outsiders, Mural's free plan goes further.

    Edge: Mural

  2. 02

    Entry paid plan

Miro Starter is $8 per member a month billed annually, and Mural Team+ is $9.99. Miro's cheaper plan includes high-resolution JPG and PDF export and visitor editing, per its page. Mural's Team+ lists unlimited murals and visitors with editing rights, but we could not confirm export formats. Miro is cheaper at the entry.

    Edge: Miro

  3. 03

    External people

Mural gives every plan visitors for one-time access, and ongoing guests only on Business and Enterprise. Miro lists unlimited signed-in guests on Business at $20, and visitor editing from Starter. If clients come back each week, compare Business to Business: Mural is $17.99, Miro $20.

    Edge: Mural

  4. 04

    Size of the product

Miro advertises more than 7,000 templates and over 250 integrations in our data, with AI credits per member each month. Mural is narrower and aimed at facilitators. That breadth is also Miro's risk: easy to adopt, expensive to roll out to everyone at per-member prices.

    Edge: Miro

  5. 05

    Enterprise terms

Miro Enterprise requires at least 30 members and a quote. Mural Enterprise is a quote, with SCIM, audit logs and data residency options listed. Neither publishes a price, and neither is a European company in our data.

    Depends on the buyer

When neither fits

If you want a European vendor or a free tool with no member fees, look at the top of the ranking. Conceptboard is first in our online whiteboard ranking, Collaboard second and Excalidraw fourth.
