Skool vs Kajabi
Skool is a deliberately minimal paid community with a classroom tab, sold on two plans at $9 or $99 a month. Kajabi is a business system that bundles funnels, email, landing pages, checkout and courses, starting at $179 a month. Pick Skool when the members are the product, and Kajabi when the marketing machine around a course catalogue is.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.
what you sell is membership of an active group, you have another way of finding buyers, and you want a low monthly price with VAT on member payments handled for you.
you are an established seller who wants funnels, email, landing pages and courses in one place and needs segmentation and design control that Skool leaves out.

Where they differ
Skool 3 · Kajabi 1 · open 0- 01
One opinion or the whole toolkit
Skool gives you a feed, a leaderboard and a classroom, and no funnels, no email sequences and almost no design control. Kajabi replaces the course platform, the email tool, the landing pages and the checkout at once. A course business that needs funnels and segmentation is the buyer Skool fits least, and Kajabi was made for it.

Monthly cost and fees on sales
Skool lists Hobby at $9 a month with a 10% transaction fee and Pro at $99 a month with 2.9%, both with unlimited members and courses. Kajabi lists Basic at $179 a month, or $143 billed yearly, then Growth at $249 and Pro at $499; Kajabi Payments costs 2.9% plus $0.30, and using a third-party processor adds 2% on Basic. Skool is the lower commitment.

What the plan limits
Both Skool plans include unlimited members, courses, videos and live calls, so the plan choice only changes the transaction fee. Kajabi meters the business: Basic allows five products, 2,500 contacts, one community and two admin users, Growth 50 products and 25,000 contacts, Pro unlimited products and three communities. Skool gives a community more room to grow before the price moves.

Tax and invoicing
Skool acts as merchant of record: it charges VAT to members at checkout on top of the price you set and remits it, so your payout is unaffected. Kajabi's Sales Tax feature calculates and collects tax at checkout and produces reports for filing, which leaves the return with the seller. For a creator with buyers in several countries, Skool removes more of the work.
Edge: Skool
When neither fits
Neither fits a seller who wants structured courses with tax handled at checkout but no community at the centre and no all-in-one price. Teachable handles tax on digital sales as part of its checkout, and elopage can sell the course in its own name as merchant of record, with EU VAT handled.
Skool or Kajabi: questions
4 answersIs Skool a replacement for Kajabi?
Only if you do not need Kajabi's marketing side. Skool has no funnels, no email marketing and almost no design control, by design. It replaces the community and a simple classroom. A seller relying on funnels and segmentation would need other tools alongside it.
Which costs less, Skool or Kajabi?
Skool. Its plans are $9 a month with a 10% transaction fee or $99 a month with 2.9%. Kajabi starts at $179 a month, or $143 billed yearly, plus payment processing of 2.9% and $0.30.
Kajabi's fee makes sense mainly when it replaces separate email, funnel and website subscriptions.
Do Skool or Kajabi handle VAT on course sales?
Skool does: it states it is responsible for collecting and remitting VAT as a marketplace, adding the tax at checkout according to the member's location.
Kajabi calculates and collects sales tax at checkout through Kajabi Payments and generates filing reports, so you still submit the return yourself.
Do Skool and Kajabi take a percentage of sales?
Skool charges a transaction fee of 10% on Hobby and 2.9% on Pro.
Kajabi says it takes no revenue share as a platform, but Kajabi Payments costs 2.9% plus $0.30 on Basic, and using a third-party provider instead adds a fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth and 0.5% on Pro.
