QuestionPro vs Alchemer

QuestionPro suits research teams that want conjoint analysis and offline surveys and are happy to buy per seat, while Alchemer suits small teams that want workflows and a say in which region stores their responses. QuestionPro charges USD 99 for Advanced and USD 83 for Team Edition per seat each month, and has a free Essentials plan. Alchemer sells three flat monthly plans, from USD 55 to USD 275, with unlimited surveys. Both are US companies, and both send larger teams to a quote, QuestionPro at ten users and Alchemer past three. Neither lets you read the top price.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

  1. 01

Per-seat Advanced and Team Edition against flat Collaborator, Professional and Full Access

QuestionPro charges Advanced at USD 99 monthly per seat when paid annually, and Team Edition at USD 83 monthly per seat. Alchemer lists Collaborator at USD 55 a month, Professional at USD 165 and Full Access at USD 275, with annual prices of USD 315, 1,075 and 1,895. Alchemer's two upper plans cover up to three users, so a trio pays one figure. QuestionPro multiplies by seats. For two or three people Alchemer is easier to budget; QuestionPro's price grows with every added user.

    Edge: Alchemer

  2. 02

Conjoint analysis and offline surveys against workflows and 400+ integrations

QuestionPro's survey software page names skip logic, branching, piping, offline surveys, conjoint analysis, a REST API and webhooks. Alchemer's home page instead stresses workflows, more than 400 integrations, and surveys delivered in-app and on a website. Alchemer's pages as fetched list neither conjoint analysis nor offline collection, and QuestionPro's pages list no named workflow engine or integration count. Research-method buyers lean to QuestionPro, while teams wiring surveys into other tools lean to Alchemer, so neither clearly wins.

  3. 03

Essentials free plan against the 7-day no-card trial

QuestionPro's Essentials plan costs nothing but allows one user, 30 question types and 200 responses per survey. Advanced adds a 10-day free trial. Alchemer also lists a free plan with limited features and responses, though no limits for it appear on the pricing page, and its paid plans come with a 7-day trial that needs no card. QuestionPro gives you exact free limits to judge, which makes the free route easier to evaluate honestly before you commit to either tool.

    Edge: QuestionPro

  4. 04

Beaverton, Austin and Louisville, plus four data centre regions

QuestionPro's privacy policy names QuestionPro, Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon, and its contact page lists headquarters in Austin, Texas. Alchemer's privacy policy names Alchemer, LLC in Louisville, Colorado. The difference that matters is storage. Alchemer says accounts can sit in data centres in the US, Canada, the EU or Australia. QuestionPro's pages as fetched mention no storage region choice at all. Anyone with a data residency requirement gets a concrete answer from Alchemer and an open question from QuestionPro.

    Edge: Alchemer

  5. 05

    Five-user floor against three-user ceiling

QuestionPro's Team Edition starts at five users and 100,000 responses a year, so a team of three sits between single Advanced seats and a plan it cannot buy. Advanced itself includes 25,000 responses a year. Alchemer's response allowances run from 75,000 to 125,000 a year across its three plans, and surveys are unlimited on all of them. The catch is the cap of three users on Professional and Full Access. Each vendor leaves a gap in team size, just at opposite ends.

    Depends on the buyer

  6. 06

Research Suite and Business Platform, the quoted tiers

Both published ladders end in a quote. QuestionPro's Research Suite is custom priced and needs ten or more users, so the step from a published price to a negotiated one is steep. Alchemer's Business Platform is also a custom quote, and it is where a team larger than three has to go, since the published comparison stops there. No figure for either top tier appears in the sources. This round is even, because each makes you talk to sales before you scale.

    Depends on the buyer

03

When neither fits

Teams after a self-hosted, open-source route, or a tool built around in-product feedback, will find neither of these a natural fit. LimeSurvey and Formbricks are the two to check first.

QuestionPro or Alchemer: questions

3 answers
Is there a plan for a team of three on QuestionPro?

Not cleanly. Team Edition needs five or more users, and Advanced is priced per user at USD 99 monthly per seat with annual payment. Three people would therefore buy three Advanced seats, each with its own 25,000 responses a year as the plan describes it.

Can I choose where Alchemer stores my responses?

Yes. Alchemer's pricing page says accounts can be placed in data centres in the US, Canada, the EU or Australia. Whether a region can be switched after sign-up is not stated there.

What does each vendor give me before I pay?

QuestionPro offers the free Essentials plan with 200 responses per survey and one user, plus a 10-day free trial of Advanced. Alchemer offers a free plan with limited features and a 7-day trial that needs no card. Alchemer lists no limits for its free plan.
