Prezly vs Prowly

Prezly and Prowly both pitch, from opposite ends. Prezly sells the branded newsroom, contacts and email pitching as one subscription, with Essential at EUR 100 and Standard at EUR 250 a month billed annually. Prowly is now the Semrush AI PR Toolkit, built around a media database, with monitoring only from Pro and extra users charged separately. Prezly's entry plan caps you at one user and 5,000 contacts, and Prowly's Base caps database pulls at 250 a month. Trials differ too, 14 days with no card against seven days with sending and export restricted.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

  1. 01

A site you publish on versus a list you search

Prezly calls its product Publish, Connect, Pitch, Prove, meaning branded newsrooms, a PR CRM, email outreach and analytics in a single subscription. Prowly's home page, which now announces the Semrush AI PR Toolkit, lists an AI-cited media database, email outreach, media monitoring and competitor benchmarking, and Base already includes a global media database and a pitch tool. So Prezly starts from the site where your stories live, while Prowly starts from the journalists you look up. Which suits you depends on your daily work.

    Depends on the buyer

  2. 02

    Seats on the entry plans

Prezly Essential allows one user and one site, and Standard moves to two users, still on one site. A second colleague therefore means paying for the next plan, and Prezly's Enterprise tier is where custom user and site limits appear. Prowly's pages say extra users are charged separately, and seats per plan are not listed in what we read. Prezly is clearer about who fits in the entry price, Prowly leaves you to ask for the seat count before you commit.

  3. 03

    Contacts, database pulls and exports

Essential holds up to 5,000 contacts and Standard up to 10,000, and Prezly's migration page says it moves your contacts, stories and email campaigns from the current tool with no extra fees. Prowly counts something different: Base allows 250 contacts a month from its media database, and contact export arrives only with Pro. During the trial, exporting contacts is blocked. If you already own a list and want it moved in, Prezly is simpler; if you mainly need fresh journalists, Prowly's database is the point.

    Edge: Prezly

  4. 04

Coverage tracking and what it can see

Prezly's media monitoring page says coverage is tracked inside the account, powered by OPoint, with items linked to author and outlet and contacts created automatically, but it names no print or broadcast sources. Prowly puts online media monitoring in Pro, and Business adds competitor tracking, coverage benchmarking and a limit of 50,000 monitored mentions. Base has no monitoring at all. For buyers who care about watching rivals and measuring volume, Prowly lists more, though both pages are limited to what they name.

    Edge: Prowly

  5. 05

    Who stands behind the product

Prezly BV is incorporated under Belgian law with its registered office in Leuven, and the pack lists Belgium as its country. Prowly's own site now says the product is the Semrush AI PR Toolkit, Semrush Inc. is a Delaware corporation based in Boston, and Semrush's home page says Adobe has completed its acquisition. Anyone signing should ask which contract and entity covers a Prowly account, since old and new names coexist. It is a close call between different kinds of vendor.

    Depends on the buyer

  6. 06

    Trial length and its limits

Prezly gives a 14-day free trial and asks for no credit card, so you can test the newsroom and pitching before anyone asks for payment details. Semrush says any Prowly plan can be tested free for seven days, but sending emails and exporting contacts are restricted during that time, and a trial cannot be restarted. Half the time and two of the main outreach actions switched off make a fair evaluation harder. For testing the whole workflow before buying, Prezly's trial is the better one.

When neither fits

If you need broadcast or print monitoring, or a vendor outside both Belgium and a large software group, neither page here settles it. Mynewsdesk is a newsroom-led alternative worth a quote, and Muck Rack is the one to compare if journalist relationships and monitoring matter most.

Prezly or Prowly: questions

3 answers
Is a second user possible on Prezly Essential?

No, Essential is listed with one user, one site and up to 5,000 contacts. Standard raises that to two users and up to 10,000 contacts. Custom user and site limits belong to the quoted Enterprise tier.

Can I try Prowly properly before paying?

Only partly. Semrush says any plan can be tested free for seven days, and a trial cannot be restarted. Sending emails and exporting contacts stay restricted until you upgrade.

Will my contracts and data move if I switch to Prezly?

Prezly's migration page says it moves contacts, stories and email campaigns from your current PR tool with no extra fees and no downtime. That is the vendor's own claim, with no time estimate stated. Ask for a written scope before you cancel the old plan.
