Suno alternatives: 10 AI music generators tools compared

People weigh up Suno when a free experiment turns into real use. Some need to know who holds the rights to a song, some want tracks for video rather than vocal songs, and some would rather keep the generator on their own machine or buy from a company in Europe. The options below cover rights-by-plan, licensing for background music, and open source.

Short answer: AIVA, Loudly and Beatoven.ai head the list of Suno alternatives drawn from our AI music generators ranking. We open the ranking with smaller vendors and put the established brands from fourth place onward. AIVA is the one to try if you want MIDI files and a European company behind the tool. Each of the 10 alternatives sits in Best AI Music Generators in 2026 and is described against Suno.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Suno

#11 of 11 in our AI music generators ranking

  • Pricing: Free tier; Pro and Premier plans published, monthly or yearly
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Songwriters wanting full songs with vocals and room to iterate on credits
  • Not for: Teams needing a ruling on the copyright status of their output

Why buyers look past Suno

  1. 01

Rights depend on when you were subscribed

Suno's help pages say songs made on the free plan are for non-commercial use and stay with Suno. Songs made while subscribed to Pro or Premier carry commercial rights. Subscribing later does not give retroactive rights to older songs by default. Anyone who generated a catalogue before paying has to sort songs into two piles.

  2. 02

Downloads are capped below the credit allowance

Pro lists 2,500 credits and 20 song downloads a month, Premier 10,000 credits and 60 downloads. Credits do not carry over, and the free plan allows no downloads at all. A team producing many finished tracks can run into the download count long before the credits run out.

  3. 03

Ownership is not the same as copyright

Suno's help pages note that music made entirely by AI may not be eligible for copyright, and that you must hold the rights to 100 percent of what you monetise. Distributors can blacklist releases that break this. Buyers who need a clear licence for client work often look at services that sell a licence per download.

What each one does differently

AIVA

Luxembourg · Published

Aiva Technologies SARL works from Luxembourg and writes in more than 250 styles from an audio or MIDI influence. Downloads come as MP3 and MIDI, which suits composers who want to edit notes afterwards. Copyright follows the plan: only Pro passes it to you, and free output needs a credit line and stops at three downloads a month.

Switch from Suno if you want MIDI files and a European company behind the tool.

Loudly

Germany · See profile

Loudly GmbH is entered in the Berlin commercial register and puts a generator, text to music, a remixer, stem splitting, mastering and an API behind one login. Its home page says output is rights-cleared and that users keep all royalties. The pricing page only loads with JavaScript, so we read no prices.

Switch from Suno if you want remixing and mastering in the same account, from a German company.

Beatoven.ai

Not stated by the vendor · See profile

Beatoven Private Limited calls its engine Fairly Trained certified and aims at background music for video, podcasts and audiobooks. Each download carries a non-exclusive perpetual licence, but Beatoven remains owner of the track and bars direct release on Spotify or Apple Music. That is the reverse of releasing songs. We could not read a price list.

Switch from Suno if you need soundtrack music for monetised video and have no plan to release it as songs.

Soundraw

Not stated by the vendor · Published

SOUNDRAW Inc. lets you shape tracks by mood, length and instrument, and Creator allows unlimited MP3 downloads. Artist plans add WAV and stems, and firms of ten or more staff are sent to Enterprise with API access. The terms are Japanese first, with an English translation, and Japanese law governs them.

Switch from Suno if you download many instrumental tracks and want no monthly cap.

Tad AI

Singapore · Published

Innovate AI Pte. Ltd. in Singapore runs Tad AI, where one credit pool pays for songs, AI covers, a vocal remover, a stem splitter and speech. The free tier holds 21 credits, Standard 500 and Pro 2,000, with 20 percent off yearly billing. The grid lists a commercial licence download.

Switch from Suno if you want covers, stem splitting and speech from a single credit allowance.

Musicfy

Not stated by the vendor · Published

Musicfy's plans differ chiefly in custom voice slots, 2 on Starter, 6 on Professional and 30 on Studio, plus 150, 400 or 1,000 songs a month. Commercial use starts at Professional. Its terms page dates from September 2023 and names no company or country, so check who your contract is with.

Switch from Suno if you want to build songs around your own custom voices.

Soundful

United States · Published

Soundful Inc. generates from style templates and counts usage in downloads. Free gives one MP3 a month for personal use, Plus 100 MP3 and WAV files, Pro 400 plus 20 stem packs, and Business 750, 1,500 or 3,000. A fair-use policy can interrupt generation or downloads, so heavy users should read it first.

Switch from Suno if you prefer an explicit monthly download count over credits.

ACE-Step

Not stated by the vendor · Published

ACE-Step is a music foundation model on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 licence, co-led by ACE Studio and StepFun. The README reports 8 GB of VRAM and 1.74 seconds per minute of audio on an RTX 4090, against 26 seconds on a MacBook M2 Max. You run it yourself; the repository lists no support plan.

Switch from Suno if you have a graphics card and want the model and the output under your own control.

ACE-Step review, listed at 8 of 11 AI music generators products →

Mubert

United States · Published

Mubert Inc. prices by use: Creator is for non-commercial work, Pro covers monetised channels and digital ads, and only Business covers client work, agencies, apps and games. Every plan bars publishing on Spotify, Content ID registration and library placement. The free Ambassador plan adds a watermark and five downloads a month.

Switch from Suno if you make content for channels or clients and not releases for streaming.

ElevenLabs

United States · Published

ElevenLabs bills Eleven Music at 900 credits per minute, drawn from the same monthly allowance as speech and dubbing. Commercial music use is listed from Starter, while self-serve plans exclude film, TV and studio games. A heavy music month can use up credits you wanted for voice work.

Switch from Suno if you already pay ElevenLabs for voice and want music in the same bill.

Which alternative for which situation

  1. 01

You want songs you can edit note by note

AIVA: It exports MIDI as well as MP3, and Pro is the plan that hands copyright to you.

  2. 02

You want a German company with remixing and mastering

Loudly: Loudly GmbH sits in the Berlin register and bundles a remixer, stem splitting and mastering.

  3. 03

You make background music for monetised video

Beatoven.ai: Each download carries a non-exclusive perpetual licence for video, podcast or audiobook use.

  4. 04

You want to run the model yourself

ACE-Step: It is Apache 2.0 on GitHub, with the README citing 8 GB of VRAM.

  5. 05

You already pay ElevenLabs for voice work

ElevenLabs: Music costs 900 credits per minute from the same allowance, with commercial use listed from Starter.

04

When Suno is still the right choice

Suno stays a sensible choice when you want full songs with vocals, a quick route from prompt to listenable result, and a browser studio on the top plan. Premier adds Suno Studio, a third type of stem separation and the option to add vocals or instrumentals to existing songs. At 8 dollars a month for Pro, the entry price is low. If your only complaint is the download count, check whether add-on credits and downloads on the paid plans cover you before leaving.

05

What moving off Suno involves

  1. 01

Songs from the free plan do not come with you

Anything made while unsubscribed is non-commercial, and a new provider cannot change that. Separate your library by creation date before you move, and plan to regenerate any song you intend to release or sell.

  2. 02

Prompts, voices and models are tied to the account

Custom voices and models on Suno are tied to your account, so they do not export to another service. Keep prompts and lyrics in your own files, and download stems while the plan is active. Top-up credits stay valid but need an active subscription to use.

Beatoven.ai and Soundraw both target video makers. Beatoven grants a non-exclusive licence per download for monetised video, and Soundraw's Creator plan allows unlimited MP3 downloads.
