ShipStation alternatives: 11 shipping tools compared

Teams look beyond ShipStation when the monthly bill follows shipment volume, when they need the API or their own carrier accounts and discover those start on a higher plan, or when they want a vendor based in the same region as their carriers. Alternatives range from Nordic and Dutch platforms to US shipping APIs.

Short answer: The first three alternatives to ShipStation in our shipping software ranking are Shiptheory, Shipmondo and MyParcel. Challengers take places 1 to 3 here. Big brands follow in the order of our category ranking. Choose Shiptheory if you already hold carrier contracts and want an automation layer only. Below are 11 alternatives, each taken from the Best Ecommerce Shipping Software in 2026 ranking, with its main difference from ShipStation.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

ShipStation

  • Pricing: Three plans priced by monthly shipment volume, no per-label fee, 30-day trial

Why buyers look past ShipStation

  1. 01

The bill follows your shipment count

ShipStation prices every plan by monthly shipments. On the Standard plan the page runs from 29.99 dollars for 50 shipments to 449.99 for 10,000 and 3,599.99 for 100,000, and Premium costs more at every step. A growing shop sees the subscription rise with each new tier, even though no per-label fee is charged.

  2. 02

Key tools sit on higher plans

Starter has three users and no Shipping API. Bringing your existing carrier accounts, unlimited automations and combining or splitting orders start at Standard. Auto-routing, advanced inventory and ODBC are Premium only, and the Premium entry price is 349.99 dollars for 50 shipments.

  3. 03

Add-ons and ownership are less visible

Fulfilment, 3PL manager and dropship manager are listed as add-on fees with no amount on the pricing page. Legal notices name Auctane LLC and its parent Auctane, Inc. in Dallas, and the terms refer to Auctane entities in Canada and the EU, so a buyer wanting a European contracting party should read them.

What each one does differently

Shiptheory

United Kingdom · See profile

Shiptheory sits between your sales channels and your own carrier accounts and books the labels, without reselling postage rates. Five tiers are set by monthly shipment cap, from 1,500 on the entry tier to 20,000, billed annually, with a small charge per shipment. A 14-day trial includes setup done by the vendor. The entry tier limits you to one user.

Switch from ShipStation if you already hold carrier contracts and want an automation layer only.

Which alternative for which situation

  1. 01

You already have carrier contracts and only need the automation layer

Shiptheory: It books labels on your own carrier accounts and sets tiers by shipment cap from 1,500 to 20,000, with a 14-day trial.

  2. 02

You ship mostly in the Nordics

Shipmondo: A free plan exists, with 50+ carriers claimed, though it allows one order integration and no own carrier agreements.

  3. 03

You want to avoid a monthly platform fee

MyParcel: The core platform has no subscription; you pay the published carrier tariff plus a small label fee.

  4. 04

You ship across Europe and want branded tracking and returns

Sendcloud: It claims 170+ carriers, with branded tracking and the return portal starting at Growth.

  5. 05

Your developers want an API with a free allowance

EasyPost: It is free up to 3,000 labels on wallet carriers, with a monthly fee for your own carrier accounts.

04

When ShipStation is still the right choice

ShipStation remains a sensible choice for a shop with steady volume that wants one hub for orders and labels. It lists no per-label fee, a 30-day trial without a credit card, rate shopping over 200+ parcel and 50+ LTL carriers, and connections to Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, Etsy and others. If you need the API, Standard covers it, so compare the Standard price at your tier before leaving.

05

What moving off ShipStation involves

  1. 01

    Rebuild automations by hand

Rules written in ShipStation do not travel as files. List every automation that picks carriers, sets weights or tags orders, then recreate them in the new tool and run a week of test orders beside the old setup before you switch channels over.

  2. 02

Check carrier accounts and sales channels

If you use your own carrier accounts through ShipStation, confirm the new platform supports the same contracts and label formats. Reconnect each store and marketplace, and compare the monthly total at your real shipment count, because tiers and caps differ between vendors.

  3. 03

    Keep history until returns end

Open returns and tracking links refer to the old account. Keep it active until those are closed, and export reports you need for accounting first.

Questions about replacing ShipStation

6 answers
How much does ShipStation cost?

The pricing page shows Starter from 14.99 dollars a month for 50 shipments, Standard from 29.99 and Premium from 349.99, each rising by shipment tier.

No per-label fee is shown. An annual toggle advertises 20% savings, but annual amounts were not in the text we read.

Does ShipStation have a free plan?

We saw a 30-day free trial with no credit card, and an option to buy at once. We did not see a permanent free plan. Shipmondo, Sendcloud, Sendify, Shippo and Easyship list free tiers, with the limits described above.

Which plan includes the Shipping API?

The pricing page lists the API from Standard, not Starter. Premium also includes it. Starter has three users, Standard ten and Premium fifteen.

Which alternatives work with my own carrier contracts?

Shiptheory books labels on your own carrier accounts. Shipmondo and Sendify charge a per-label fee on own carrier agreements, and MyParcel and Wuunder offer own contracts as a paid module or plan feature. Check each vendor's list of supported carriers first.

Is ShipStation a European company?

The pages we read name Auctane LLC d/b/a ShipStation, with a Dallas, Texas notice address, and refer to Auctane entities in Canada and the EU. They do not state the contracting country, so read the terms for your region.

Which alternative suits a developer team?

EasyPost is an API with 100+ carriers, and Shippo offers an API with a free tier. Both are US vendors. Among European options, ShippyPro and Sendcloud publish integrations, but check their API terms.
