People look for a Postmark alternative when the free plan of 100 emails a month is too small to test with, when the tiers jump from nothing to 10,000 emails, or when they want a sender hosted or contracted in Europe. Others want one account for transactional and marketing mail, or per-message billing on infrastructure they already use.
Short answer: The first three alternatives to Postmark in our transactional email services ranking are SMTP2GO, Elastic Email and Resend. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose SMTP2GO if a small independent relay with phone support and a roomier free tier suits you. Every one of the 11 products below comes from Best Transactional Email Services in 2026, with a note on how it departs from Postmark.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.
Pricing: Free plan to 100 emails a month; paid tiers by volume, published
Established in: United States
Built for: Application teams that want clean transactional streams and long log retention
Not for: Low-volume senders who want a large free allowance

Why buyers look past Postmark
01
The step from 100 to 10,000 emails
The free plan stops at 100 emails a month and refuses overages. Basic, the next step, begins at 10,000 emails for $15 a month, and the pricing page lists nothing between. With no rollover and no annual billing, a small or seasonal sender pays for capacity it leaves idle.
02
Features rise with the tier and the price per thousand
Basic, Pro and Platform list $15, $16.50 and $18 a month for 10,000 emails, with overage at $1.80, $1.30 and $1.20 per 1,000. Retention is 45 days by default and can be set up to 365 days only from Pro. A dedicated IP costs from $50 a month, needs Pro or higher and is aimed at senders above 300,000 emails a month.
03
US contract and strict account rules
The terms we read are with AC PM, LLC and fall under Illinois law, with disputes in JAMS arbitration in Cook County. They set a spam complaint ceiling of 0.1% and a bounce ceiling of 10%, and allow cancellation above either. Affiliate marketing and list-rental senders are listed as prohibited. Europeans wanting a local counterparty look elsewhere.

SMTP2GO
New Zealand · Published
Sand Dune Mail Ltd operates SMTP2GO, and its terms follow New Zealand law. Against Postmark's 100-email free tier it allows 1,000 a month; Starter is sized for 10,000 and Professional for 100,000. Every plan carries ticket, chat and phone support, with the chat and phone part limited to 14 days on free accounts. Professional is where a dedicated IP shows up.
Switch from Postmark if a small independent relay with phone support and a roomier free tier suits you.
Offices in Vancouver and Szczecin sit behind Elastic Email Inc. Free accounts get 3,000 emails and 1,000 contacts monthly, while Starter and Pro share a 50,000-email ceiling and differ by feature set. Log history is short: 3 days, rising to 7 only on Pro. Private IPs and dedicated support cost extra, and accounts may upgrade themselves on hitting a limit.
Switch from Postmark if the free tier size matters more to you than how long logs are kept.
Plus Five Five, Inc., which runs Resend under California law, publishes a compact price list. The free tier allows 3,000 emails monthly but only 100 per day; Pro raises that to 50,000 and Scale to 100,000. Domain counts of 3, 10 and 1,000 act as a second limit. Even Scale treats a dedicated IP as an extra purchase.
Switch from Postmark if flat tiers with a domain count appeal more than per-thousand overage rates.
Brevo's own transactional page states hosting in France and Germany. The free plan gives 300 emails a day and paid plans start at 5,000 emails a month. Marketing and transactional sending share the plans, so a company mailing both keeps one account. SMS credit is sold separately and the dedicated IP is listed under Enterprise.
Switch from Postmark if you need EU-hosted sending and also run newsletters from the same account.
MailerSend, Inc. lists a New York address in its terms, and its About page names the team as the people behind MailerLite. Free covers 500 emails monthly, Hobby 5,000. Activity data stays 1 day on Hobby, 7 on Starter and 30 on Professional, so a longer history means a higher tier.
Switch from Postmark if you are a MailerLite user wanting a mid-sized free tier.
Mailjet's free plan allows 6,000 emails a month but only 200 a day, and paid plans start at Starter with 8,000 emails. A dedicated IP is listed from Premium, or on request for 100,000-email plans. Sinch Email's terms name Mailjet next to Mailgun, so using both does not spread supplier risk. Prices exclude French VAT only for a European company with a VAT number.
Switch from Postmark if you want a French sender with a high monthly free allowance and accept a daily cap.
The sparkpost.com address redirects to bird.com, and Bird B.V. is registered in Amsterdam. The free plan allows 1,000 emails a month at 50 a day and stops at the limit. Paid plans work as a monthly deposit into a balance, from $15 for Startup to $1,000 for Scale, with rates per thousand between $0.20 and $0.45.
Switch from Postmark if you prefer a Dutch contracting entity and a prepaid balance to a fixed tier.
As a Sinch Email brand, Mailgun has its contract with Mailgun Technologies, Inc. under Texas law, and lets you choose US or EU sending. Free allows 100 emails a day; Foundation covers 50,000 and Scale 100,000. Log history runs 1 day on Free and Basic, 5 on Foundation, 30 on Scale. Only Scale brings SAML SSO and dedicated IP pools.
Switch from Postmark if you need to pick a US or EU sending region on a developer-focused API.
Twilio now hosts SendGrid, and its pages describe a 60-day trial at 100 emails daily followed by volume-based paid plans. No plan table appeared on the pages that loaded for us, so no list price is given here. The Pro Email API plan includes one dedicated IP, with additional ones billed monthly.
Switch from Postmark if Twilio already holds your contract and you want email billed under it.
Amazon SES bills per email. Essentials costs $0.16 per 1,000 emails, Pro $105 a month per account and region, and Enterprise $500, beside an a la carte outbound rate of $0.10 per 1,000. New accounts default to Essentials from 21 July 2026. Dedicated IPs are add-ons on every plan, and existing AWS credits can pay for usage.
Switch from Postmark if you already run on AWS and want billing per message rather than per tier.
Formerly Mandrill, Mailchimp Transactional took its new name in fall 2025 and is sold as an add-on to legacy, Standard and Premium Mailchimp plans. Blocks of 25,000 emails start at $20, up to 20 blocks. Newcomers get 500 test emails to a verified domain. Intuit owns Mailchimp.
Switch from Postmark if Mailchimp is already on your invoice and prepaid blocks of sends suit your volume.

03
You already pay for AWS and prefer billing per message
Amazon SES: Essentials is $0.16 per 1,000 emails; Pro is $105 a month and Enterprise $500.
04

Mailgun: Free allows 100 emails a day; SAML SSO and dedicated IP pools come only with Scale.

When Postmark is still the right choice
Postmark stays a sound choice when you send application mail such as receipts, password resets and notifications and want it kept apart from newsletters. Its message streams separate transactional and broadcast traffic, retention of 45 days is on every plan, and daily sending is unlimited on paid plans. If your volume is steady near 10,000 emails and the 0.1% complaint ceiling is no worry, switching buys little.
05
What moving off Postmark involves
01
Run both senders side by side
Add the new service's SPF and DKIM records to your domain while Postmark's stay live. Warm up gradually and move one kind of message at a time, least critical first, because a fresh shared IP has no history with mailbox providers.
02
Streams, templates and logs stay behind
Postmark's message streams, templates and stored activity of up to 45 days do not transfer to another service as they are. Download what you need for support or audit before you cancel, and rewrite API calls and webhooks for the new vendor.
