Teams look at alternatives to Pingdom when they want a plain monitoring bill instead of a calculator, a permanent free tier, or a vendor that is not part of SolarWinds. The tools below range from pay-per-check services and free-tier checkers to on-call suites and code-driven browser checks.
Short answer: Looking for a replacement for Pingdom? Updown.io, Hyperping and StatusCake come first in our uptime monitoring ranking. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Start with Updown.io if you want to pay for the checks you run, with no contract and no tier to pick. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Uptime Monitoring Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Pingdom.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.
Pricing: No free plan, 30-day trial; Synthetic and Real User Monitoring sold as separate self-serve subscriptions sized in a calculator, the entry Synthetic tier covering 10 uptime checks, 1 advanced check and 50 SMS; Enterprise volumes quoted

Why buyers look past Pingdom
01
Two products, two sizing exercises
The pricing page splits Pingdom into Synthetic Monitoring and Real User Monitoring and asks you to combine them in a subscription calculator. Synthetic tiers are sized by uptime checks, advanced checks and SMS alerts, the smallest being 10, 1 and 50. RUM is sized by monthly pageviews, from 100,000 upwards. A site that only wants uptime checks still has to read the whole structure before it knows what it will pay.
02
Only a trial, and the top end is a quote
The page offers a free trial covering Synthetics and RUM, and we saw no permanent free plan. Enterprise is meant for roughly 500K to over 5 million pageviews a month and is priced through a quote request. The price figures were not in the page text we read, so a buyer has to open the calculator to see any amount at all.
03
A SolarWinds product, with an APM pitch beside it
The site is branded SolarWinds Pingdom and the footer names SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. The pricing page also promotes an APM Integrated Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring and log management, with no price shown. If you want a stand-alone checker from a small vendor, you are buying from a company whose pages point toward a larger platform.

Updown.io
France · Published
Updown.io charges per check instead of per plan: 1 credit is one check, 100,000 credits are free to start, and packs run from 200,000 credits for €5 to 60,000,000 for €500. Intervals go from 15 seconds to an hour, and an SMS costs 7,500 credits. It runs from Paris and has done since 2012. The page names no company behind it.
Switch from Pingdom if you want to pay for the checks you run, with no contract and no tier to pick.
Hyperping, a Paris company, lists a free plan with 20 monitors, 5-minute checks and one basic status page. Essentials costs $24 a month ($290 a year) for 50 monitors at 30 seconds, 3 browser checks, a custom-domain status page and an on-call schedule with escalation. All plans check from 18 regions, and paid plans come with a 14-day trial.
Switch from Pingdom if you want checks, a status page and a simple on-call rota from one small vendor.
StatusCake, from Grays in England, keeps a free plan of 10 uptime monitors at 5 minutes plus one page-speed, domain and SSL monitor. Superior is €16.66 a month on annual billing for 100 monitors at 1 minute, Business €58.33 for 300 at 30 seconds. Every plan has a 7-day trial without a card, and multi-year terms cut the price by up to 40%.
Switch from Pingdom if you want a modest, long-running UK checker with page speed and SSL included.
UptimeRobot, registered in Slovakia, gives 50 monitors at 5 minutes and one basic status page for nothing, with no card. Solo costs €9 a month on annual billing (€10 monthly) for 60-second checks and three status pages. Team is €30 for 100 monitors at 30 seconds, and Scale €55 at 15 seconds. The free plan is a pure checker with no browser flows.
Switch from Pingdom if your need is many simple checks on a free or very small budget.
Cronitor watches whether scheduled jobs and workers actually ran, next to ordinary endpoint checks. Free Hacker covers 5 monitors; Business costs $2 per monitor plus $5 per user a month with 30-second checks, and 20 monitors with 3 users comes to $55. Synthetic browser checks are an add-on at $1 per 1,000 runs. Enterprise starts at $6,000 a year.
Switch from Pingdom if cron jobs and background tasks fail silently more often than your website does.
StatusPal is a Berlin-registered status page product where monitoring only feeds the incident workflow. Plans are priced by status page capacity: Hobby $46 a month with 10 monitored services, Startup $99 with 30, Business $299 with 100 and SSO. Each has a 14-day trial, and the pages we read show no permanent free plan.
Switch from Pingdom if customer-facing incident communication matters more than the checks themselves.
Checkly writes monitors as code. Browser checks are Playwright scripts kept in a repository and deployed from CI. The Hobby plan is free with 10 uptime monitors, 2-minute checks, 6 locations and 1,000 browser runs; Starter is $24 a month and Team $64 with 22 locations and 30-second checks. Hobby is hard-capped, while paid plans bill overage.
Switch from Pingdom if your engineers already write Playwright tests and want monitors reviewed like code.
Better Stack combines uptime checks, heartbeats, status pages and on-call in one product. The free plan has 10 monitors and heartbeats with one status page. Paid uptime adds 50 monitors for $25 a month ($21 yearly) at 30 seconds, with Playwright transaction checks at $1 per 100 minutes and responder licences at $34. Add-ons for status pages are priced separately.
Switch from Pingdom if alerting, escalation and incident handling should sit in the same tool as the checks.
Dotcom-Monitor offers 25 targets free with 5-minute checks from 2 locations, email alerts and 21 days of data. Paid subscriptions are priced per platform: web services from $19.99, real-browser pages from $29.96, scripted transactions from $38.95, infrastructure protocols from $40. Subscriptions check from 25 locations, which means the bill follows the check types you choose.
Switch from Pingdom if you need scripted multi-step transactions and protocol checks and would rather pay by type.
Uptime.com, in Florida, starts Website Monitoring at $9 a month, with uptime, transaction, API and page speed checks, email and SMS alerts, unlimited users and 1-minute checks from 100+ probe servers. Private locations reach systems behind a firewall. No free plan is described, but new customers get a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Switch from Pingdom if you want a wide probe network and private-location checks at a small entry price.
Uptrends, owned by ITRS Group, runs a 30-day trial with Enterprise access and no card. Core is from $42 a month (annual) with 2-minute uptime checks from US and EU regions; Pro from $60 adds 230+ city-selectable checkpoints, SLA monitoring, waterfall charts and unlimited status pages. Enterprise adds OpenTelemetry, SSO and private checkpoints.
Switch from Pingdom if you must prove an SLA to customers and need city-level checkpoint choice.
Pingdom remains reasonable when you want synthetic and real-user monitoring in one view from a long-established brand. Its home page cites uptime checks from over 100 locations, transaction monitoring for logins and checkout flows, page speed analysis, an API and webhooks, and the synthetic plans include unlimited users, public status pages and maintenance windows. A 30-day trial lets you test both halves. If RUM is already in use there, moving away means replacing two products, not one.

What moving off Pingdom involves
01
Count checks, SMS and pageviews first
Export your list of uptime checks, advanced checks and the SMS alerts you used, and note whether anyone reads the RUM reports. Most alternatives price by monitor or by check, so this inventory tells you which plan you land on.
02
Recreate transactions and alert routes
Transaction scripts, contact lists, maintenance windows and webhooks do not transfer by themselves. Rebuild them in the new tool, and keep Pingdom running in parallel for a few weeks so that missed alerts show up before you cancel.
03
Repoint status pages and reports
If customers or colleagues use public status pages or shared reports from Pingdom, set up the replacement under a new address and redirect before switching off the old one. Agree who keeps historical uptime figures.

Questions about replacing Pingdom
7 answers
What is the best alternative to Pingdom?
Updown.io leads our list for plain uptime checks: it charges per check, with 100,000 credits free to start and packs from €5, and is run independently from Paris. Hyperping, StatusCake and UptimeRobot follow, each with a free plan, which Pingdom does not list.
Is there a free alternative to Pingdom?
Yes. UptimeRobot gives 50 monitors at 5-minute checks, Hyperping 20 monitors with a basic status page, Dotcom-Monitor 25 targets from 2 locations, and StatusCake and Better Stack 10 monitors each. Pingdom itself offers a 30-day trial and we saw no permanent free plan.
Which Pingdom alternative is cheapest for a few websites?
Updown.io, where a pack of 200,000 checks costs €5, or the free plans above. UptimeRobot Solo is €9 a month on annual billing and Uptime.com starts at $9. Pingdom's own amounts only appear in its calculator.
Can I replace Pingdom's transaction monitoring?
Yes. Checkly runs Playwright browser checks from code, Better Stack bills Playwright minutes at $1 per 100, Dotcom-Monitor sells scripted transactions from $38.95 a month, and Uptime.com includes transaction checks in its $9 plan.
Which alternative gives me a status page and on-call?
Hyperping includes a custom-domain status page and an escalation policy from Essentials at $24 a month. Better Stack adds on-call scheduling with responder licences, and StatusPal concentrates on the status page and incident communication.
What about Pingdom's real user monitoring?
Pingdom prices RUM separately by monthly pageviews. Among the tools here, Uptrends lists RUM as an add-on on its Core plan. Most others only check from outside, so plan a separate analytics or RUM tool if you rely on that data.
Is there a European alternative to Pingdom?
Yes. Updown.io and Hyperping are in Paris, StatusPal is registered in Berlin, UptimeRobot in Slovakia and StatusCake in England. Several of the others are American.
