Fivetran alternatives: 11 ETL and data integration tools compared

Teams look for a Fivetran alternative when the monthly-active-row bill becomes hard to forecast, when they want to self-host or keep data in a specific region, or when they need transformation and orchestration that a pure data-movement tool does not cover. They move to open-source or flat-priced loaders, or to a platform that also transforms.

Short answer: The closest replacements for Fivetran in our ETL and data integration ranking are Airbyte, Estuary and Dataddo. Choose Airbyte if you want to self-host an open-source loader or pay by volume with a low entry price. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best ETL Tools in 2026, and each says where it differs from Fivetran.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

Fivetran

#7 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking

  • Pricing: Per monthly active row, published calculator; free plan up to 500,000 rows a month
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Teams who want connectors that simply keep working, and will pay
  • Not for: Budget-sensitive teams with frequently updated tables

Why buyers look past Fivetran

  1. 01

Usage-based billing is hard to predict

Fivetran charges by monthly active rows (MAR). Its free plan covers 500,000 MAR for connections, and paid plans add a $5 monthly base charge on standard connections between 1 and 1 million MAR. On Enterprise, billing is per connection with separate cost curves. The bill therefore follows row activity, which is harder to forecast than a seat count.

  2. 02

Annual contracts and tiers decide the price

Fivetran says customers can save up to 22 percent on an annual contract. Features such as one-minute syncs and custom roles sit on Enterprise, and customer-managed encryption keys and private networking on Business Critical. A team that needs faster syncs or tighter security has to move up the tier ladder and not just buy more rows.

  3. 03

    A data-movement tool, not a data platform

Fivetran positions itself as an automated data movement platform with SQL transformations, activations and hybrid deployment, across 900+ sources and destinations. Teams that want to run their own code, orchestrate jobs or self-host the whole stack often find a different tool fits better, and some need a vendor that sits in a particular region.

What each one does differently

Airbyte

United States · Free self-hosted open source (Airbyte Core); cloud by volume or credits from $20 a month, published; capacity plans quoted

Open source at its core: Airbyte Core is free to self-host, while the cloud Standard plan starts at $20 a month with volume-based pricing by rows, GBs or events. It lists 700+ connectors and a 14-day trial. Self-hosting means you run and maintain it, and the higher plans are capacity-based and quoted.

Switch from Fivetran if you want to self-host an open-source loader or pay by volume with a low entry price.

Airbyte, #1 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Estuary

United States · $0.50 per gigabyte plus $100 per connector a month, published; free up to 10 GB a month

Charges $0.50 per GB of data moved plus $100 a month per connector instance for the first six (then $50). It is free up to 10 GB a month, supports log-based CDC for real-time movement, and lets you pick US or EU processing. It lists 200+ connectors, fewer than Fivetran.

Switch from Fivetran if you need real-time CDC and prefer paying by gigabytes instead of by active row.

Estuary, #5 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Dataddo

United States · Per data flow per month from $99, published; 30-day money-back guarantee, no free plan

Prices by data flow, not by row: Data Anywhere starts at $99 a month for three flows, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. It covers ETL, ELT, CDC, streaming and reverse ETL with 400+ connectors. There is no free plan listed, and extra flows are arranged through an account manager.

Switch from Fivetran if you have a small, stable number of source-to-destination flows and want a flat price.

Dataddo, #3 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Weld

Denmark · Monthly tiers by monthly active rows and connectors from $99, published; 14-day trial

A Danish vendor with plans from $99 a month on annual billing (Basic, 5M rows and 2 connectors) to Business at $959 (50M rows, 10 connectors). It bills by monthly active rows too, but with connector caps per plan. Basic syncs daily and CDC costs extra there, and there is a 14-day trial.

Switch from Fivetran if you want MAR-style billing from a Danish vendor with a lower entry price.

Weld, #4 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Keboola

Czechia · Free plan with 60 processing minutes a month; top-ups at $0.14 a minute, published; enterprise quoted

A data platform with ETL, SQL and Python transformations and flows in one place. The free plan gives 60 compute minutes a month (120 in the first month), with overage at $0.14 a minute, and free projects are hosted on Azure in the EU. Enterprise adds a data catalog, CDC and compliance features and is quoted.

Switch from Fivetran if you want extraction, transformation and orchestration in one environment and pay by compute minutes.

Keboola, #2 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Matillion

United Kingdom · Credits consumed by task hours; annual credit packages, rate quoted

Credit-based pricing on task hours (execution time) with three tiers, Developer, Teams and Scale, and annual packages with included credits. It offers a low-code canvas with SQL and Python components, and the Scale tier adds hybrid deployment and streaming CDC. The credit rate is not published on its page.

Switch from Fivetran if your team builds and transforms pipelines in a cloud warehouse and wants to pay for execution time.

Matillion, #6 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Qlik Talend Cloud

United States · Quoted capacity subscription, metered on volume, job runs and duration

Four editions (Starter to Enterprise) with consumption pricing based on data volume, job executions and duration, and no prices published. Standard adds log-based CDC and hybrid deployment, Premium adds transformation and data quality, and Enterprise adds SAP and mainframe connectivity. A free trial is offered.

Switch from Fivetran if you need enterprise sources such as SAP or mainframe and accept quoted pricing.

Qlik Talend Cloud, #9 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Informatica IDMC (Salesforce)

United States · Consumption units (IPUs), quoted; annual commitment; free tier up to 20M rows a month

Informatica's cloud data management platform, now branded as part of Salesforce. It uses a consumption model in Informatica Processing Units (IPUs) that covers all eligible cloud services, with pricing by contact to sales. It covers far more than data loading, including master data, which makes it heavier to adopt than Fivetran.

Switch from Fivetran if you need data integration and master data management from one enterprise vendor.

Informatica IDMC (Salesforce), #12 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Azure Data Factory

United States · Per activity run and per integration unit hour, published

Microsoft's pay-as-you-go service, billed per activity run, per data-movement hour in Data Integration Units, and per vCore-hour for mapping data flows. Pipelines are built by you from components, not delivered as managed connectors. Costs depend on activity frequency and runtime type, and Microsoft calls its page prices estimates.

Switch from Fivetran if you are already on Azure and want to build your own pipelines with pay-per-use billing.

Azure Data Factory, #10 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

AWS Glue

United States · Per data processing unit hour, published; billed per second, 1-minute minimum

Amazon's serverless ETL service, billed at $0.44 per DPU-hour per second with a one-minute minimum (price varies by region). The Data Catalog includes a free tier of one million objects. It is a build-it-yourself toolkit for Spark jobs, not a managed connector library like Fivetran.

Switch from Fivetran if your data and team are on AWS and you are comfortable writing Spark-based jobs.

AWS Glue, #11 of 12 in our ETL and data integration ranking →

Semarchy

United States · Quoted per organisation; SaaS, on-premise or inside Snowflake; trial available

Primarily a master data management and data products platform, with data integration (xDI) as one product. It is deployable as SaaS, on-premise, in the cloud or inside Snowflake (we could not verify its pricing model on the vendor site). It is not a self-serve loader, so it fits a governance programme more than a quick connector setup.

Switch from Fivetran if master data and governance are the project and data movement is part of it.

When Fivetran is still the right choice

Fivetran remains the right choice when you want managed connectors that need little engineering time, you have many SaaS and database sources, and your volumes are predictable enough for MAR billing to be forecastable. Its free plan (500,000 MAR) also lets a small team start without paying, and its 900+ sources and hybrid deployment option cover many requirements out of the box. If your engineers would otherwise maintain connectors, the subscription is easier to defend.

05

What moving off Fivetran involves

  1. 01

Model the cost before you switch

Take your last three months of Fivetran MAR per connection and price them in the target tool. Volume-based tools count rows, gigabytes or events differently, and flow-based tools charge per pipeline, so the same workload can land cheaper or dearer. Do this with real numbers before a trial.

  2. 02

Re-sync and schema parity take the time

Moving connectors means a fresh historical load and checking that table and column names in the warehouse match what downstream models expect. Run old and new pipelines side by side into separate schemas, compare row counts, and switch dashboards over only when they agree.

Questions about replacing Fivetran

6 answers
How is Fivetran priced?

By monthly active rows. The free plan includes 500,000 MAR for connections, and paid plans are Standard, Enterprise and Business Critical. A $5 base charge applies to standard connections between 1 and 1 million MAR, and Fivetran says annual contracts save up to 22 percent.

Is there a free self-hosted alternative?

Airbyte Core is free and self-hosted open source. Airbyte also sells a cloud service from $20 a month.

Which alternative has a flat price per pipeline?

Dataddo prices by data flow, from $99 a month for three flows. Estuary charges per GB plus a monthly fee per connector instance.

Which alternatives are native to a cloud provider?

Azure Data Factory on Azure and AWS Glue on AWS. Both are pay-per-use and need you to build the pipelines.

Do any alternatives publish no prices?

Yes. Qlik Talend Cloud and Informatica IDMC are quoted, Semarchy did not list prices on the page we checked, and Matillion publishes its model but not its credit rate.

Is there an alternative with an EU-hosted free plan?

Keboola's free plan projects are hosted on Microsoft Azure in the EU. Estuary lets you choose between US and EU data processing regions.
