Alteryx alternatives: 11 ETL and data integration tools compared
People searching for an Alteryx alternative are mostly analysts and finance or operations teams who built workflows on the desktop designer and now face a platform licence sold by edition, user role and automation runs. They move to open source or one-off-licence workflow tools, to the Power Query engine they may already own, or to warehouse-side pipeline and transformation products.
Short answer: Looking for a replacement for Alteryx? KNIME, Easy Data Transform and Microsoft Power Query and Dataflow Gen2 come first in our ETL and data integration ranking. Smaller vendors fill the top three places where the category offers them, and the household names start at place 4. Start with KNIME if you want the same visual node workflow style, a free client and a published entry price for scheduling in the cloud. Every one of the 11 products below comes from Best ETL Tools in 2026, with a note on how it departs from Alteryx.
A vendor can pay to be shown on this site. What we write about its product stays the same either way. Details.

Why buyers look past Alteryx
01
The licence now has three controls, not one seat price
Alteryx One is sold by edition, by user role (viewer, basic creator, full creator) and by automation runs. Only the Starter edition shows a price, $250 per user per month billed annually, and it is cloud only, limited to basic users and flat-file connectivity. Professional and Enterprise are listed as contact sales, so a budget cannot be set before a quote.
02
Desktop workflows get folded into a platform
The pricing page says customers with Designer-only licences generally move to Professional and those with Designer plus Server move to Enterprise. The product pages now lead with agents, governed metrics and conversational analytics. An analyst who only wanted to clean spreadsheets repeatably is paying for a platform scope that goes well beyond that job.
03
Ownership and direction are set by private equity
The Alteryx board page lists representatives of Clearlake Capital Group and Insight Partners. We read that as a sign of who steers pricing and roadmap, not as a defect. It does mean a renewal is a negotiation with a vendor under financial targets, which is a common reason teams price a second tool before they sign.
a central data office, rather than individual analysts, owns integration and wants one governed platform

KNIME
Switzerland · Published
Pairs a free, open source desktop analytics client with paid hosted plans. The Team plan page states from €99 a month for 3 seats and 120 execution credits, and the pricing page says there is no per-seat licensing. The company is KNIME AG in Zurich. Nothing here is a mainframe or governance suite.
Switch from Alteryx if you want the same visual node workflow style, a free client and a published entry price for scheduling in the cloud.
A single desktop program from Oryx Digital Ltd in England, sold at $99, €90 or £75 plus tax as a one-time fee. Data stays on the computer unless you send it out. It reads and writes files such as Excel, CSV, JSON and XML, so it has no database connector list and no server or scheduler.
Switch from Alteryx if your Alteryx use is cleaning and merging files on one machine and you would rather buy once than subscribe.
Power Query is the transformation engine inside Excel, Power BI, Power Platform and Dynamics 365, and Dataflow Gen2 runs it in Microsoft Fabric with 300+ transformations and several output destinations. It needs no separate licence from you if the Microsoft estate is in place, but it has no spatial or predictive tool palette to match Designer.
Switch from Alteryx if your data already lands in Excel, Power BI or Fabric and the workflows are mostly reshaping and joining tables.
A collaborative platform that covers data preparation, visual flows, machine learning and governance in one workspace. It offers a 14-day cloud trial for up to five users and an installable Free Edition for Mac and Linux, while paid pricing is only given by sales. It is a wider and heavier system than a prep tool, with a French and US footprint.
Switch from Alteryx if analysts, data scientists and IT need to share one governed environment and machine learning is on the roadmap.
A portfolio now published on Siemens pages, after Siemens acquired Altair. AI Studio gives drag-and-drop workflows with AutoML, and Monarch prepares data from PDFs and spreadsheets with 80+ prebuilt functions and lineage. Pricing is not shown and every route starts with contacting the vendor.
Switch from Alteryx if you extract tables from PDF reports or want a visual modelling tool from a large industrial vendor.
A Czech platform that bundles extraction, SQL and Python transformation and orchestration, billed by processing minutes. The free plan gives 120 minutes in the first month and 60 a month after, with top-ups at $0.14 a minute. Work is written as SQL and Python and chained in a flow builder, not drawn tool by tool on a canvas.
Switch from Alteryx if your team is comfortable with SQL and wants a free starting plan with an EU-hosted free tier.
A British vendor that builds pipelines on a low-code canvas with SQL or Python components, pushed to a cloud warehouse. Developer, Teams and Scale editions are billed in credits that consume against task hours, in annual packages. Developer includes one developer user. It assumes you own a warehouse and does no desktop analytics.
Switch from Alteryx if the data lives in Snowflake, Databricks or a similar warehouse and the Alteryx jobs are mostly joins and cleaning at volume.
A SQL-and-version-control tool for the transform step, run against a warehouse. The Developer plan is free for one seat with 3,000 models a month, and Starter is $100 per user per month for five seats. dbt Labs has merged with Fivetran. There is no visual canvas and no extraction, so analysts must write SQL.
Switch from Alteryx if the transformation logic can live as SQL files in Git and the team includes people who write them.
Microsoft's pipeline service, with code-free data flows running on managed Spark and a path to rehost SSIS packages. Charges are metered per orchestration run, per DIU-hour of data movement and per pipeline hour, shown on a page that renders prices client-side. It orchestrates well and has no predictive or reporting tools.
Switch from Alteryx if you run on Azure and need scheduled, monitored pipelines more than an analyst workbench.
The Talend integration line sold inside Qlik, covering real-time data movement and change data capture, data quality, governance and data products. A free trial is offered, but subscription pricing is not published. It addresses integration and quality for an enterprise estate and is not a self-service workbench for individual analysts.
Switch from Alteryx if quality checks, governance evidence and data movement matter more than analyst convenience.
A cloud data management suite now presented as Informatica from Salesforce, spanning integration, catalogue, quality and master data. It has a start-for-free route and a pricing explainer, with the cost model being consumption units. It is aimed at enterprise data teams, so a three-person analytics group would find it oversized.
Switch from Alteryx if a central data office, rather than individual analysts, owns integration and wants one governed platform.
Alteryx is still the right choice when analysts are fluent in its tools and the work depends on what the palette covers: macros, geospatial steps, analytic apps and a Server tier that schedules and governs the result. Its Enterprise edition includes viewer licences, and the push-down into Databricks, Snowflake and Google platforms keeps processing next to the data. Rewriting a few hundred tested workflows in another tool costs months, and a plain renewal can be cheaper than that rebuild.

What moving off Alteryx involves
01
Inventory workflows before comparing tools
List every workflow with its owner, schedule, input sources and output consumers, then mark which use macros, spatial tools or predictive nodes. Most estates turn out to hold a small core of critical jobs and a long tail of one-off cleaning files. The long tail can move to a lightweight tool first, and the core can be compared on a proper proof of concept.
02
Run both tools side by side for a quarter
Alteryx workflows do not import into other products, so each one is rebuilt by hand. Keep the Alteryx licence running while a rebuilt copy produces the same output, compare row counts and totals each cycle, and cancel only after the results match for a full reporting period. Check the notice terms in your contract before you plan the dates.

Questions about replacing Alteryx
6 answers
How much does Alteryx cost?
The pricing page lists Starter at $250 per user per month billed annually, limited to 1 to 10 basic users, cloud only, with file connectivity.
Professional and Enterprise are marked contact sales. The model adds user roles and automation runs, so the total depends on the quote.
Is there a free Alteryx plan?
We found a 30-day free trial of Alteryx One on the pricing page and no permanent free plan. The nearest no-cost routes are KNIME's free desktop client, Dataiku's installable Free Edition and Power Query inside Excel, none of which is a drop-in replacement.
Which alternative is closest to the Alteryx canvas?
KNIME and Rapidminer AI Studio both use drag-and-drop workflows. KNIME's client is free and open source. Rapidminer is sold through Siemens with no published prices. Neither promises that an Alteryx workflow imports, so plan on rebuilding.
Can a warehouse tool replace Alteryx?
For transformation at volume it can: Matillion, dbt and Azure Data Factory run work against a warehouse or on managed compute.
They assume SQL or pipeline skills and none of them offers Alteryx's analyst workbench, so the people doing the work change as well as the tool.
Who owns Alteryx now?
Its board page lists representatives of Clearlake Capital Group and Insight Partners next to the CEO. The company is headquartered at Irvine, California according to its contact page. We did not find an ownership statement in prose on the pages we read.
Do the alternatives run on my own machine?
Easy Data Transform runs locally on Windows and Mac. KNIME's Analytics Platform is a desktop application, and Dataiku offers an installable Free Edition. The others in this list are cloud or server services.
