Teams look past Adobe Commerce, formerly Magento, when the cost of running it outgrows what the shop earns, when a version falls out of support, or when a pricing model based on a quote no longer suits them. They move to open source frameworks for control, to German and French platforms for local fit, or to hosted services that take operations away.
Short answer: OXID eShop, Sylius and Medusa head the list of Adobe Commerce alternatives drawn from our ecommerce platform ranking. Where a category has smaller vendors worth recommending, they occupy the first three places and the big brands come below them. OXID eShop is the one to try if you want a fixed monthly price with no share of turnover and run German-speaking markets. Every one of the 10 products below comes from Best Ecommerce Platform in 2026, with a note on how it departs from Adobe Commerce.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.
Built for: A large retailer whose catalogue and pricing nothing else models
Not for: Any business below serious enterprise revenue

Why buyers look past Adobe Commerce
01
You carry the upgrade treadmill yourself
Adobe gives each Commerce version a three-year standard support window from release. 2.4.6 left standard support on 11 August 2026 and 2.4.5 and 2.4.4 are already in extended or security-only periods. Adobe does not patch PHP or MySQL once they reach end of life, so the stack under the shop needs its own upgrade plan.
02
The stack is wide and the versions are pinned
Release 2.4.9 is tested with PHP 8.5, OpenSearch 3, MariaDB 12.3, Valkey 9 and RabbitMQ 4.3, and Adobe states that it supports only the combinations in its tables. A shop therefore depends on search, queue, cache and database services that move together, which in practice means specialist developers or an agency on retainer.
03
Cost is not published to compare
Our category record lists pricing as quoted per organisation, and the Adobe product page did not load for our checks, so we cannot state a licence figure. A buyer cannot set it against the published plan tables of the platforms below without a sales conversation, which makes switching decisions harder to model.
the business has shrunk and you only need a shop on an existing website

OXID eShop
Germany · Published
OXID is German shop software that charges no revenue share. Its Enterprise B2C subscription is listed at 1,123 euros a month on a 36-month minimum, Enterprise B2B at 1,583 euros on 48 months, and each extra sub-shop adds 173 euros a month. The price is fixed per edition, though projects usually run through an agency.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if you want a fixed monthly price with no share of turnover and run German-speaking markets.
Sylius is an open source Symfony framework with a REST API built on API Platform. Its site names a preconfigured B2B setup for wholesalers and multi-vendor logic for marketplaces as customer examples. Pricing for Sylius Plus was not on the pages we read, and nothing works until a PHP team has built it.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if your developers already know PHP and want to own the code of a bespoke shop.
Medusa is a TypeScript commerce backend from Denmark. Medusa Cloud lists Develop at 29 dollars a month, Launch at 99 and Scale at 299, each with a 0% GMV fee and unlimited orders and products. Its FAQ says you can export data and run it on your own infrastructure later. It is a young project.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if you want to rebuild on Node modules and avoid any share of sales.
Saleor is a Polish GraphQL commerce API. Saleor Cloud starts at 1,599 dollars a month for up to 200,000 dollars of monthly GMV, with 0.8% charged above that, and a 3,999 dollar tier covers a million. Sandboxes are free. The FAQ says you can move between Cloud and the open source version.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if you are building a custom front end and want an API-first core with a published ceiling.
Shopware's Community Edition costs nothing in licence fees, while Rise starts at 600 euros a month, Evolve at 2,400 and Beyond is custom, all priced on GMV. B2B components such as quotes and purchasing approvals arrive at Evolve, and customer-specific pricing at Beyond. Hosting, implementation and maintenance of the community edition are yours.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if your catalogue and B2B rules are complex and you want a European open core with partners.
PrestaShop is French open source software that its project site says is freely available on GitHub. PrestaShop SA holds the trademarks. A hosted edition exists, and the category record notes strong European payment and invoicing modules, with uneven module quality. We could not load a PrestaShop pricing page, so no plan figures are given here.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if you want a self-hosted European shop with payment modules and a lighter footprint than Magento.
WooCommerce is the open source commerce plugin for WordPress, and its site says it powers more than 4 million stores. You choose any host and add from hundreds of marketplace extensions. The plugin has no platform fee, but updates, security and hosting stay with you. It does not mention B2B on its home page.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if content is central, you already run WordPress and a smaller catalogue will do.
BigCommerce lists Core at 39 dollars a month, Growth at 105, Scale at 399 and Performance from 1,499 billed annually. Plans step up on trailing sales, Performance is where price lists and advanced promotions appear, and the Open Payment Provider fee falls from 2.0% to 0.6% down the tiers. Embedded payment providers carry no such fee.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if you want a hosted platform with B2B functions but no servers to run.
Shopify's plans run from Basic at 28 euros a month, or 21 billed yearly, to Advanced at 384 and Plus from 2,100. Fees for third-party payment providers fall from 2% to 0.2% up the tiers. The trial is 3 days free then 1 euro a month for 3 months. It is hosted, so you do not run any infrastructure.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if you want to stop running servers and accept a monthly plan plus app costs.
Ecwid by Lightspeed adds a shop to a site you already have. Plans go from Starter at 5 a month to Venture at 35, Business at 65 and Unlimited at 149, with product limits of 10, 100, 2,500 and unlimited, and no setup or transaction fees. It fits a downsized catalogue rather than an enterprise one.
Switch from Adobe Commerce if the business has shrunk and you only need a shop on an existing website.

03
You want to rebuild on TypeScript with no GMV fee
Medusa: Medusa Cloud lists 29, 99 and 299 dollar plans with a 0% GMV fee, and the FAQ says you can self-host later.
04
Your B2B quotes and approvals are the reason you chose Magento
Shopware: Quotes and purchasing approvals come with Evolve from 2,400 euros a month; the Community Edition carries no licence fee.
05
You want to stop operating servers altogether
Shopify: Plans start at 28 euros a month on Basic and run to Plus from 2,100, with hosting included.
04
When Adobe Commerce is still the right choice
Adobe Commerce stays defensible where the catalogue, promotion rules and B2B pricing are too intricate for hosted plans, and where a team and agency already know the platform. Adobe lists supported releases to 2029 for 2.4.9, so a shop on a current version has a clear path. Leave when the estate is on an old release, or when the licence and agency bill exceed what the shop returns.
05
What moving off Adobe Commerce involves
01
Check which version you are really on
Look at your release number and patch level against Adobe's lifecycle table before planning anything. A shop on 2.4.4 or 2.4.5 is already past standard support, which is a reason to move soon and also sets the deadline for choosing between an upgrade and a replatform.
02
Catalogue data moves, custom logic does not
Products, customers and orders can be exported, but promotion rules, B2B price logic and custom modules must be rebuilt in the new system. List every extension and integration first, and decide which still matter. Keep the old URLs mapped with redirects to protect search traffic.

Questions about replacing Adobe Commerce
6 answers
How long does Adobe support each Commerce version?
Adobe gives each version three years of standard support from general availability. Its lifecycle table lists 2.4.9 (released 12 May 2026) to 31 May 2029 and 2.4.8 to 31 May 2028.
Versions 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 get one further year of extended support, and a cloud enforcement date follows.
What does Adobe Commerce cost?
Our category record lists it as quoted per organisation. The Adobe product page did not load for our checks, so we state no figure. Ask for a written quote that separates licence, hosting and support before comparing it with the published plans of other platforms.
Which alternatives charge no share of sales?
OXID states a revenue share of 0 euros, Medusa Cloud lists a 0% GMV fee, and Ecwid says it charges no transaction fees. Shopware and Saleor price on GMV, and BigCommerce moves you up plans on trailing sales.
Which alternatives are open source?
WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Medusa, Saleor, Sylius and the Shopware Community Edition are open source or open core, and you can run them on your own servers. Hosted options include Shopify, BigCommerce, Ecwid and Wix, where the vendor runs the infrastructure.
Is B2B possible outside Adobe Commerce?
Yes, with conditions. Shopware places quotes and purchasing approvals at its Evolve plan, OXID sells a B2B edition, BigCommerce offers price lists at Performance, and Sylius names a preconfigured B2B setup for wholesalers among its customer examples.
Can I run an alternative on my own servers?
Medusa, Saleor, Sylius, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and Shopware's Community Edition can be self-hosted. Medusa's FAQ says you can export data from Cloud and run it yourself. You then own upgrades, backups and security, much as with Adobe's on-premises edition.
