Narakeet vs WellSaid Labs

These two voice tools charge for different things. Narakeet bills the seconds of audio or video you produce, from packs paid once, and unspent credits do not expire. WellSaid Labs sells monthly or annual plans sized in downloaded minutes, with generating and regenerating unlimited on paid plans, so edits cost nothing until you export. Narakeet lists 946 voices in 112 languages and regional accents, while WellSaid's Starter and Pro plans list English voices only and keep all languages for Enterprise. One is registered in England and Wales, the other in the United States.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

  1. 01

Pay once per pack or subscribe by the minute

Narakeet describes its plans as one-time payments for capacity measured in the duration of audio or video produced, not recurring subscriptions. The 6 USD package gives 30 minutes at $0.20 per minute, and larger packs give cheaper minutes. WellSaid Labs sells a Free trial, Starter and Pro for individuals, and Business and Enterprise for teams, billed monthly or annually. Narakeet's pack route is simpler for occasional projects, since nothing renews.

    Edge: Narakeet

  2. 02

Editing a script without burning minutes

WellSaid separates generating from downloading. On paid plans, generation and regeneration are unlimited and do not count against downloaded minutes, so rewriting a line until it sounds right costs nothing until you export. Narakeet bills for the duration of audio or video produced, in increments of 1 second, and we read no free regeneration allowance. A producer who revises heavily will find WellSaid's meter friendlier to that habit.

  3. 03

946 voices against English-only individual plans

Narakeet's languages page lists 946 voices in 112 languages and regional accents. WellSaid's Starter and Pro plans list all English voices, and its pricing page places all languages and translation under Enterprise. For a localisation project covering many markets, the difference is stark. A team that only ever records in English loses nothing from WellSaid's limit, but anyone who needs a second language on a small plan has to look at Narakeet.

What the free tier lets you do with the audio

Narakeet's free account allows 20 conversions and a 1 KB maximum audio script, with no commercial use, no automation API, no SSML scripting and no batch audio creation. WellSaid's free trial needs no credit card and allows 3 download minutes a month, also without commercial rights. Both stop you from shipping client work before paying. WellSaid gives a bit more room to judge the product, and full commercial rights come with its paid plans.

  5. 05

    Seats, workspaces and security controls

WellSaid's Business plan adds up to 5 seats, a team workspace, invoicing and a Premiere Pro integration. Enterprise adds single sign-on, security controls and sample rates up to 96 kHz, and an API page describes a streaming text to speech endpoint with an API key and a partner programme. Narakeet's own page says larger purchases can be paid by invoice or bank transfer, but we read no seats or single sign-on, so team governance favours WellSaid.

Training data, refunds and where each company sits

WellSaid states that customer data and content are never used to train its AI models, on all plans, and its terms give a copyright agent address in Seattle, United States. Narakeet is owned by Video Puppet Limited, registered in England and Wales with an office in Woking, under English law. It offers refunds within 14 days for unused credits and takes payment in USD, GBP, EUR or INR. We did not see a training-data statement from Narakeet.

When neither fits

If you need a very large language list with team controls, or a cloud text-to-speech service billed per use, neither is a perfect match. Murf and ElevenLabs are the two other voice generators in our list to compare next.

Narakeet or WellSaid Labs: questions

3 answers
Do Narakeet credits run out if I do not use them quickly?

No, the pricing page says credits do not expire. It also offers refunds within 14 days for unused credits. Larger purchases can be paid by invoice or bank transfer.

How many minutes can I download on WellSaid's two individual plans?

Starter allows 20 minutes a month, which is 240 per year on annual billing. Pro allows 180 minutes a month, or 2,160 per year. Generating and regenerating clips does not count against those figures on paid plans.

Can I use the free version of either tool in a paid client project?

No for both. Narakeet's free account states no commercial use, and WellSaid's free trial has no commercial rights. Commercial accounts at Narakeet and paid plans at WellSaid are where use for client work begins.
