Lofty vs BoldTrail

Lofty is bought by a US agent or team to get website, advertising and automated follow-up from one supplier. BoldTrail, formerly kvCORE, is bought by the brokerage and stretches further into transactions and back office across hundreds of agents. The question is mostly who signs: a team controlling its own tools, or a brokerage standardising everyone.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

Where they differ

  1. 01

    Who holds the contract

Lofty is quoted per agent or team, so the people using it can be the people who signed. BoldTrail is bought by brokerages, agents rarely control the contract, and an agent who leaves usually leaves the database behind. For an individual agent or team that wants to own its contacts, Lofty is the safer arrangement.

  2. 02

    How far the platform reaches

Lofty covers the front of the business: IDX website, advertising, lead capture and automated follow-up. BoldTrail covers websites and leads too, then continues into transactions and back office, which is the argument that works at brokerage scale. If the aim is one supplier for the whole operation, BoldTrail extends further.

  3. 03

One product or several stitched together

BoldTrail was assembled from acquisitions including kvCORE and BoomTown, and the joins show in navigation and reporting. Our data makes no such remark about Lofty, whose automation is singled out as its strongest part. That is a documented weakness on one side only, not proof of polish on the other, but it points Lofty's way.

Seeing the price before you commit

Neither publishes anything. Lofty is quoted with an annual contract, and bundled advertising spend blurs what the licence costs. BoldTrail is quoted per brokerage or agent, also annually, and the figure is set in a negotiation most agents never see. Both require a sales process and a twelve-month commitment to find out.

    Depends on the buyer

03

When neither fits

Neither is right for a team that wants a published price and a contract it controls. Follow Up Boss publishes per-seat pricing and has an open API, and Sierra Interactive publishes starting prices by team package with monthly terms available.

Lofty or BoldTrail: questions

3 answers
Is BoldTrail the same product as kvCORE, and how does it differ from Lofty?

BoldTrail is the platform formerly sold as kvCORE, combined with other acquisitions such as BoomTown. It is aimed at brokerages and includes transactions and back office. Lofty is aimed at agents and teams and concentrates on website, advertising and automated follow-up.

Can an individual agent buy Lofty or BoldTrail directly?

Lofty is quoted per agent or team, so an individual can be the customer. BoldTrail pricing is listed per brokerage or agent, but it is described as bought by brokerages and a poor fit for individual agents, who rarely control the contract.

Do Lofty and BoldTrail work outside the United States?

No. Lofty is built around the American MLS and is not meant for agencies outside North America. BoldTrail is MLS-driven and described as useless outside North America. Neither manages listings for European property portals.
