TalentLMS alternatives: 11 learning management tools compared

Teams look beyond TalentLMS when the plan ladder starts to pinch: branches and learning paths are counted per tier, the user bands climb quickly, and the Pro plan adds a charge per extra user. The options below range from other published-price platforms to self-hosted and quoted enterprise systems.

Short answer: The first three alternatives to TalentLMS in our learning management ranking are 360Learning, LearnWorlds and Moodle. The first three places are kept for challengers when the category has enough of them; the best-known brands come after that, in ranked order. Choose 360Learning if your own specialists should author and review the courses and the group is under 100 people. Each of the 11 alternatives sits in Best Learning Management System in 2026 and is described against TalentLMS.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

TalentLMS

#3 of 13 in our learning management ranking

  • Pricing: Free plan for 5 users and 10 courses; paid plans by monthly active-user band, published
  • Established in: Greece
  • Built for: A company that needs assigned training running this week
  • Not for: An organisation with sophisticated learning design
01

Why buyers look past TalentLMS

  1. 01

Branches and learning paths are rationed by plan

The pricing page we read shows Core with 1 branch, Grow with 3 and 5 learning paths, Pro with 15 branches and unlimited paths, and unlimited of both only on Enterprise. A company with one site and a handful of courses will not notice. A group with a dozen subsidiaries, each wanting its own portal, ends up buying the third tier mainly for the branch count.

  2. 02

The displayed price moves with headcount

Every paid plan carries a user band, from 1-40 on Core up to 801-1,000, and Pro lists $449 a month plus $6 for each additional user. The page does not say how that $6 interacts with the bands, and Enterprise only starts at 1,000 users. Budgeting a growing workforce therefore means asking sales a question the page leaves open.

  3. 03

Hosting and data location are not spelled out

The features page we read calls TalentLMS a cloud LMS and lists ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certification, GDPR consent tools and WCAG 2.1. It states no hosting provider or data region, and its body text and footer cite different editions of the ISO 27001 standard. An organisation with a residency requirement has to get the answer in writing.

What each one does differently

360Learning

France · Published

360Learning, from France, publishes one plan: Team at $8 per user per month for up to 100 users, billed monthly, with a 30-day trial mentioned in the FAQ. Business and Enterprise are custom. The idea is that subject experts write courses together instead of one administrator building them, so it fits where knowledge sits in people's heads.

Switch from TalentLMS if your own specialists should author and review the courses and the group is under 100 people.

LearnWorlds

Cyprus · Published

LearnWorlds, a Cyprus company, lists Starter at $44, Pro Trainer at $79 and Learning Center at $249 per month on annual billing, with a 30-day trial. Starter adds $5 per course enrolment; the higher plans list none. Active-learner caps of 1,000 and 2,000 a month replace the user bands, and the whole thing is shaped around selling courses.

Switch from TalentLMS if customers or members pay for the courses and you want a storefront in the same product.

Moodle

Australia · Published

Moodle is the name behind the open source LMS, with trademark held by Moodle Pty Ltd. Its MoodleCloud page lists Medium and Standard plans and a yearly AUD 160 fee for a custom domain on Medium; plugins cannot be installed there, while Moodle LMS and Moodle Workplace allow them. Someone has to administer it, and the page does not give plan prices.

Switch from TalentLMS if you have an administrator and want to extend the system with plugins instead of buying tiers.

eFront

Greece · Published

eFront comes from the same company as TalentLMS and is listed from $720 a month on the Registered plan (300 users) or $1,600 on the Active plan (100 active users), billed annually. Cloud runs on AWS, with 11 regions that include Frankfurt, Paris, Dublin and Stockholm, and an on-premises install is offered. Its pricing page mentions no free trial.

Switch from TalentLMS if you want to stay with the same vendor but need a chosen EU region or your own servers.

LearnUpon

Ireland · On request

LearnUpon from Dublin sells three products, each with a stated starting size: employees from 100 users, associations from 150 and customer education from 300. Prices are given only after a demo, and no trial appears on the page we read. Portals let one account serve different audiences with their own look.

Switch from TalentLMS if the same account must serve staff and external customers or partners from the start.

Sana Learn

Sweden · On request

Sana Learn describes itself as an LMS, LXP, authoring tool and virtual classroom in one AI-native platform, with an AI tutor for learners and generation for course makers. Its site states that Sana is now part of Workday. No prices appear on the page we read, so cost is a question for sales.

Switch from TalentLMS if you would rather have people ask an AI tutor than browse assigned course lists.

Thinkific

Canada · Published

Thinkific prices in tiers of €79, €159 and €366 a month on annual billing (the page we read showed euros), each starting with a 30-day trial. All plans allow 10,000 students and unlimited published courses; communities, administrators and video bandwidth rise by tier. A gateway fee applies when you use Stripe or PayPal instead of Thinkific Payments.

Switch from TalentLMS if you are turning training into a product for the public and want the shop and payments built in.

Docebo

Canada · On request

Docebo prices on active learner usage, with a choice of monthly, yearly or registered active-user models, and AI credits counted separately. The Elevate plan covers the core; Enterprise adds up to 6 integrations, up to 10 extended-enterprise domains, two sandboxes and 100 API calls a minute. Add-ons include e-commerce, communities and a branded mobile app.

Switch from TalentLMS if you have outgrown a mid-market plan and need many domains, sandboxes and a named account team.

Absorb LMS

Canada · On request

Absorb markets compliance training that assigns itself by role, region or regulation, with real-time status. Its site lists more than 20,000 pre-built courses, 40-plus integrations including ADP, Workday and Salesforce, an API, and e-commerce through 70 payment gateways. Prices come through a demo or RFP form only.

Switch from TalentLMS if audit-ready completion records and automatic assignment matter more than a free tier.

Litmos

United States · On request

Litmos presents a library of ready-to-use courses beside its platform, plus AI-assisted creation, and its compliance pages mention automated certification cycles and role-level audit visibility. The page we read gave no catalogue size, price or Salesforce detail, so ask for those during the demo.

Switch from TalentLMS if you would rather buy standard compliance courses than write every module.

Canvas

United States · On request

Canvas, by Instructure, comes in three tiers listed on a separate page, with prices on request through a demo. Its site cites accessibility as a core commitment and says it works with over 1,000 external tools. Canvas Career is aimed at non-degree and professional learning, so it is the school-born option here.

Which alternative for which situation

  1. 01

You want experts inside the company to write the courses

360Learning: The Team plan is $8 per user per month for up to 100 users, billed monthly, with a 30-day trial mentioned in its FAQ.

  2. 02

You sell training to people outside the company

LearnWorlds: Plans run from $44 to $249 a month on annual billing, and only Starter adds a $5 enrolment fee.

  3. 03

You need your own servers or a chosen EU region

eFront: Cloud runs on AWS in 11 regions including Frankfurt and Paris, and an on-premises install is offered.

  4. 04

You have an administrator and want plugins instead of tiers

Moodle: MoodleCloud does not allow plugins, while Moodle LMS and Moodle Workplace do.

  5. 05

Your audit asks who was assigned what, and when

Absorb LMS: Its site describes auto-assignment by role, region or regulation and a real-time view of compliance status.

04

When TalentLMS is still the right choice

TalentLMS remains the sensible choice when you want training assigned within days and your own people to build it. The free plan allows 5 users and 10 courses with no time limit, and paid plans carry unlimited courses, SSO, an API, a custom domain and LTI 1.3. The features page lists SCORM, xAPI and cmi5, and the integrations page counts 41 entries, from BambooHR and Zoom to Stripe and Zapier. If your branch count and user band fit one tier, the price is easy to read and replacing it mostly costs time.

05

What moving off TalentLMS involves

  1. 01

Decide what must be exported first

Courses, learner records, certificates and the activity timeline are the pieces to inventory. TalentLMS lists SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 support and an external LRS option, so standards-based content should travel, while completion history needs an agreed export format.

  2. 02

Match branches and groups to the new structure

Branches and Group Supervisor groups have no direct equivalent in every platform. Map each one to a portal, domain or group in the target system before importing users, and check how learning paths are expressed.

  3. 03

Switch off the old integrations last

SSO, HRIS and Zapier connections will need re-creating. Run both systems side by side for one training cycle, then close the old account once certificates and reports match.

Questions about replacing TalentLMS

6 answers
Which TalentLMS alternative do we list first?

360Learning ranks first among our TalentLMS alternatives.

It has a published Team plan at $8 per user per month for up to 100 users, billed monthly, with a 30-day trial mentioned in its FAQ, and it is built around experts writing the courses. LearnWorlds and Moodle follow in the list above.

What does TalentLMS cost?

The pricing page we read displays Core at $119, Grow at $229 and Pro at $449 a month plus $6 for each additional user, with Enterprise on request.

It was unclear whether those figures are monthly or annual rates, and the FAQ mentions a 20% saving on annual billing.

Is there a TalentLMS alternative that can run on our own servers?

eFront offers an on-premises install and a cloud on AWS in 11 regions. Moodle LMS allows plugins and is run by your own administrator. Both need more set-up than TalentLMS.

Which alternative suits selling courses to customers?

LearnWorlds and Thinkific both centre on selling. LearnWorlds lists a 30-day trial and Thinkific a 30-day trial on every plan. Check enrolment and gateway fees before choosing.

Which alternative handles compliance training best?

Absorb describes auto-assignment by role, region or regulation and real-time compliance status, and Litmos mentions automated certification cycles. Both sell by quote, so ask for a test with your own audit questions.

Does TalentLMS have a free plan?

Yes: up to 5 users and 10 courses, with no time limit and no credit card needed, according to its pricing page. The page does not state a trial length for paid plans.
